Hereford Times: 3:13pm Wednesday 30th April 2014 in News Strange that Fire and Police almagamating at Bromsgrove is a good idea, but not in Hereford. News release from West Mercia Police. Wouldn't it make sense to put the two services together on one site. Obviously not in Hereford.

This is taken from the H&W Fire Service website published Monday 28 April: Still no minutes published of the 26th March Policy & Resources Committee to background of when when decisions were taken. Came across this tucked away. Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority DECISION LIST - POLICY AND RESOURCES COMMITTEE – 26 March 2014 Agenda Item 14 Asset Management Strategy : Report Title Hereford Fire Station Resolution Resolved that: (i) the Policy and Resources Committee approve the proposed arrangement between Herefordshire Council and the Fire Authority to provide a new fire station in Hereford; and (ii) that the Policy and Resources Committee authorise the Chief Fire Officer to proceed with the project to completion on terms to be agreed with the Treasurer and Head of Legal Services and in consultation with the Chairman of the Fire Authority. Not much point in consulting anyone. They have already decided to press on regardless. Note the next Policy & Resources Committee meeting is on June 2nd, a couple of weeks after their consultation when they will be congratulating one another on another mission accomplished.

HA-Herefordshire Council On Own Over Western Bypass

Does this help explain who they are? -
Is this just a coincidence or is Jesse trying to find out what really bothers us local voters? Any one go?

Talk about hanging on with your fingernails. Still well done and lets hope they do better next season. At least it will stop the council turning the ground into a car park!

Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*

Meanwhile in Worcester. From H&W BBC radio: 25 April 2014 No retail shops - so it can be done. And all we get is more car park. Anyone know how much is planned to spend on tarmac in the future ie £27m on a link road, £130m? on a bypass and £20m on the county roads through Balfour Beatty. Yet when you go down Blackfriars Road the new tarmac laid for the OLM stops 200 yards short of Widemarsh Street! -
I like to look at the company information sites for information about these people. It sometimes comes up with links to other well known local characters and local organisations. I just wish I had the money to read some of their deposited documents. . For example: Hereford Society for aiding the Industrious (Not to be confused with the Herefordshire Cabal for aiding themselves) referred to here: Cllr Harry Bramer here linked to Herefordshire Housing and so on.

Yes the media are putting pressure on Nigel. I liked this comment from a reader in the Guardian the other day: I went to the UKIP meeting and found it very positive. A reasonable turnout for a wet evening and both MEP candidates expressed their views on the EU very well as did some of the audience through questions. I have got no idea who the other political party candidates are except that they want to remain in the EU and continue fleecing us for ever. Regarding UKIP locally I asked if they were putting up candidates in the local and national elections next year. Nationally they are, but I can't see this area getting a different party MP as its too blue. Locally I mentioned that if UKIP put up local council candidates it could split the vote and let the current regime in again. They need to talk to the Independents and IOC and sort out a strategy. Anyone who missed the UKIP political broadcast can see it here:

Agree Roger. There are several UKIP things that I am concerned about one of which is fracking. If it goes ahead on a grand scale there needs to be strict regulation on its operation and transparency on what chemicals these fracking companies want to chuck down their drilling holes. On another matter locally, concerning the working boys home, how many councillors have wised up and read the 480 comments on Hereford Voice. I don't think many have, the majority base their decisions on party lines and direction. We need councillors who can listen, read behind the hidden agendas and serve the public honestly. I like Nigel Farage. He always answers the questions put to him and because of the pressure to discredit him through the media every day, he is enjoying an unparalleled amount of publicity for his party. Good luck to him - after all you do not need any experience to be in politics just the votes.

This report The Farrell Review of Architecture and the Built Environment was mentioned at the Hereford Civâ€c Society last week. "The publication of the Farrell Review is an opportune moment to take stock, consider new thinking and identify areas to address in the challenges facing architecture and the built environment. Good quality places matter, and the Review quite rightly identifies the value of a PLACE (Planning, Landscape, Architecture, Conservation and Engineering) based approach to secure the benefits of good design". It is an interesting report to read - both the report on consultation and the conclusions and recommendations. 3.CULTURAL HERITAGE pps 67 to 75 Our built environment past, present and future Here are some snippets: Our built environment shapes our identity collectively as unique communities and as individuals. As Winston Churchill said, “We shape our buildings, and afterwards our buildings shape us.†It is the everyday places in which we all live that link our culture and identity. also “The distinction between historical and recent is redundant. All that is past is our history. That which is most ancient is likely to be valued more highly because of its rarity, and because less is recorded. Our recent history may prove to be enormously important to future generations so we should attempt at least to anticipate this.†Steven Bee (conversation with Farrell Review team) and “Buildings that aren’t listed should still be addressed in terms of their impact on the public realm. We should be less precious about the backs of buildings and think more about their fronts in terms of their contribution to the streetscape.†Hank Dittmar (Farrell Review Expert Panel meeting) Some of the worst design impacts over the past fifty years have been from road schemes, with over-engineered junctions and intrusive signage ignoring the context of streets where public life is played out. Places would be greatly improved if the people who make decisions about our built environment, such as planning committee members and highway engineers, were empowered by training in design literacy. Newly elected councillors who already receive mandatory training on financial and legal duties should receive placemaking and design training at the same time. In order to achieve this, there needs to be a momentous sea change led by professionals to better inform and educate those who make the all-important decisions. After all, it is in all our interests to ensure that every person responsible for making decisions about the built environment is able to read plans at the very least. -
Hello Roger. Here's 96 pages for you to read. Just a bit too much to put on the back of a stamp. OUT OF THE EU - INTO THE WORLD THE UK DOES NOT NEED TO BE IN A POLITICAL UNION IN ORDER TO TRADE AND OTHER INCONVENIENT TRUTHS Out of EU.pdf

I think I will pop along this Wednesday evening and see what they have to say for themselves. I think they are worth supporting over the EU, but it would be useful to know where they stand in the forthcoming local elections. We don't wnat them to split the independent and IOC votes so that the cons get back in - that would be too much.

Hereford Times: 3:39pm Thursday 17th April 2014 in News By Bill Tanner If we are to have "Localism" can anyone explain how Neighbourhood Plans are applied to the city wards? It appears the county council are only interested in rural parishes. Is the city council doing anything about this?- 54 replies
