Turkey has been trying to join the EU for donkey's years and as far as I'm aware the UK and USA still support that application. Germany is against. Looking at the map Aleppo in Syria is about 30 miles from the Turkish border. And there is some serious Military Action going on there between various factions.

Not sure why you need a foam pot of stuff for a 'sit down' ... I'm assuming it's peas ...

How 'busy' would it have to get here before the 'brake' was applied? Very subjective that one. And you would need cooperation at the other end to make it happen. And even then it would not work particularly well. All this with the backdrop being that we're not in the Schengen Zone and already take fewer than probably anyone. Then you got the situation where you potentially ban the low/no skilled EU worker (who can very probably speak our language) whilst waving through some people from the Philippines because we are short of nurses ...

Everyone wants volunteers to do stuff for free ... Even Theresa May (Home Secretary) BBC I'm not sure what Planet she's on but skilled computer workers (not typists) can get £300 a day doing Consultancy work. I've got a friend who does it. There's a shortage in that sector as well. So people ain't going to do it for free unless they got some philanthropic tendency or more money than sense ...

I'm not going to defend Bill Wiggin, as he seems to have his fingers' in several lucrative pies, but have we any evidence of any disgruntled constituent who has not had a concern dealt with, to their satisfaction, that they'd raised with him because he had taken his eye off the ball?

How big a part? 30 miles or 30 yards? Where are you going to be able to navigate to/from? Aylestone Park to The Swan? Pie in the sky idea. By all means restore it when we've sorted everything else out. Roads are shot, bomb site is still there in High Town, Homeless are sleeping in doorways, Soup kitchens feeding the waifs and strays ... Council Tax is going up when we get less services ... etc. etc. ...

Unless you want a haircut or buy some food there is very little incentive to go into town as you can buy absolutely any product from Amazon and get it delivered through your door in less than 24 hours. And there's no parking to pay for.

Herefords Voice has now been deleted from the cycling thread comments. I think the H.T. people must be reading this forum ...

I see the comments on the Maylord Cycling story are still visible under the handle of 'Hereford Voices'. Seems like half baked amateur hour moderating just to delete a post as opposed to suspending the username until he/she chooses a less confusing one ...

Was that the NIMBY comment? Never saw a lot wrong with it meself. But I can't remember what it said word for word ...

I think the poster, who seems reasonably intelligent to my untrained eye, is being deliberately controversial. But fair enough! He/she has a point tho about housing. There is a chronic shortage Nationally and so do we try and protect a rare newt or meadow flower/hedge or get people housed? That said I wouldn't want it by me!

French drug trial leaves one brain dead and five critically ill French health minister travels to clinic in Rennes, where all trials of the drug have been suspended One person is brain dead and five others are seriously ill after taking part in a drug trial for an unnamed pharmaceutical firm at a clinic in north-west France. The French health ministry said the six patients had been in good health until taking the oral medication. It did not say what the new medicine was intended to be used for, but a source close to the case told AFP that the drug was a painkiller containing cannabinoids, an active ingredient found in cannabis plants. The Hereford Times has every right to report the story as it was a Public hearing but I too would question the Public Interest in this case. It seems that a very poorly and elderly gentleman has succumbed to an operation that was a 'last throw of the dice' where the outcome was grim at best. No real news here other than to say RIP ... I don't know if this is an example of increased Court reporting from the HT generally recently? There seems to have been an upsurge from where I'm sat reading ...

Just been listening to PMQ's ... The only domestic Political story this week has been the Junior Doctor dispute/strike ... Corbyn forgot to ask a single question about it. We had his 6 questions ~ which were all about Housing. A valid topic but I found his tactic a bit strange ... Perhaps he felt vulnerable on the Doctor Subject? Or unsure about what to ask? Plus we had a return to the Bah Whoo type of exchanges as well. Back Bencher's getting a bit wound up!
