Difficult area ... And possibly costly ... Is that why the lower hanging fruit is aimed at? Like dropping a cigarette end?

Cannot Purchase Hot Food In Hereford City After 1.30am
Roger replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
I forgot to mention ... I got stuck in Shrewsbury on 9th November and had a muffin/coffee at the Town Centre Maccies at 4.30 AM ... Open all night ... Why can Shrewsbury accommodate all night food and not Hereford ? Seems to me that the local official cliques have their own ingrained mindset ...- 291 replies

Red herring that one ... Pre-loading is a well known way to get a cheap booze fix ... Adults who pre-load then go to the pub ... Where the service happens .. The area that the Council won't touch appears to be serving drunks in the pubs/clubs (And I admit that is VERY hard/costly/risky) ... Easier to sting a supermarket for an underage sale to tick a box ...

The facts are straightforward here. The folk get unbelievably drunk in town at certain times and the 'fallout' is dealt with by certain measures being put in place. Chip/kebab shops are shut at 1.30AM and now a 'volunteer' drying out centre is opening. I know for a fact that licensees generally are really trying their best to be as responsible as they can but the drunks keep getting served till they are either falling over or fighting. Should more be done to prevent the need for this drying out place to be there at all? Drunks routinely served --- Link (2014 one) is a general one and not Hereford ... I gather just 10 people were prosecuted last year for serving drunks ... The DM says it was 3 in 2010 ... I do know that fixed penalties can be issued for this (and undoubtedly have been) but that probably just hits the barman/barmaid in the pocket. Seems to me that the emphasis is mopping up the fallout on the cheap and not tackling the underlying cause. Probably because the cash ran out years ago ...

'Pastor' is a 'Christian' Religious name ... I won't be going down supporting any religious route to sort out street drunks ...

Ta for clearing that up! I think you are 'out of touch' to even mention that to be honest!

Little info on the HT link about how this will deliver/work ... How do people get there? Is it the self reporting homeless drunks' who want somewhere warm to hang out? Or some vulnerable drunk woman escorted there by a 'street pastor' ... Too little info on the HT story to form an opinion really ... I'd also add that I hope any of these 'volunteers' are subject to very enhanced 'CRB' type checks ... As we all know what happened in the Jimmy Savile situation ...

Location: Converted old 'Youth Court' Opening: About Saturday 13 December 2014 Hours: 22.00 - 04.00 Facilities: Assessment area/recovery space/supervised sleep-off room (and hopefully a toilet) Staff: Unclear on qualifications/levels but believed to involve 'street pastors' Hereford Times

This subject started up a huge debate on the HT facebook page and they ended up having to delete the item due to inappropriate comments. So they make it today's front page and launch the debate again on facebook ... Hereford Times (comments enabled on story)

I'm not sure to be honest. But I seem to think it has to be completed within 12 months. It's more a probation thing which I've never got involved with ...

I'm losing track of whats going on at this Zabka shop ... Ali Omar Shukir had it in January and was up in Court for the same tobacco type charge in August. He got 300 hours unpaid work. This Kursheed Kadir fella seems to have then owned it from June. Subject of this latest case. But the application for an alcohol license (mentioned on the Zabka thread) is in the name of the latest owner called Zardashit Karem SALH. There's probably a 'Mr. Big' behind this shop and new managers/owners are slid in as and when required. There's been at least three in 10 months. Just seems to be a front for organised crime.

Can't believe the site censor blanked out my word there as I used the @ sign in f @ g ....

What about the Council enforcement people who sort out dog droppings and people dropping *** ends? And fly tipping? It's not rocket science to add illegal street trading to their remit? Although I do appreciate dropping a *** end is easier to prove than illegal street trading!

I didn't think Hereford United were speaking to the media at the moment but BBC Hereford + Worcester have used their Twitter account to advertise that the Club will be issuing a response to the audio clip on the Andrew Easton Show after 5PM today ... In an earlier tweet the station provided a link to the recording which was described as 'fake'. So I assume that's the way the response will be heading ...

Would the Council have be so generous if the Islamic Centre people had chosen this location as opposed to their failed bid to move into the Magenta Computer shop?

The PCC Election in the West Midlands recently .... (held as the sitting PCC died) reportedly cost £3.7 Million to hold ... I don't know who paid that ... Probably a Central Govt. pot of money ... With the massive budget cuts being imposed the PCC has got very limited scope to impose there own personal mark or make any difference. The area's to cut will dictate themselves ... 80% of costs are staff salaries so cutting down on buying paper clips is not going to achieve anything ...

Walked into town today and the oldish fella I normally see selling perfume had two wheeled trolley's of Pashmina's in the road outside M&S at 2PM. Drove through the route in my car at 5PM and his new location was on the pavement about 4 feet away ... I presume he only moved as the road opened to cars at 4.30PM ... An obvious example of someone not being a pedlar but actually street trading ... Costing him about £12 a year in fees ... What if you put all the gazebo type stalls in town on wheels and moved them a few inches now and then? Same difference really ... Save a packet on renting a pitch off the Council ... Or the AA man and his lecturn selling breakdown memberships? Put it on wheels and move about a bit ~ avoid any Council fee ...

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
Roger replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
I'm not averse to getting me hands dirty or helping out but we are talking an industrial volume here. When the Council did actually do a proper job up Churchill Gardens it was not just a couple of green bags worth of leaves ... It was truck loads ... :-)- 427 replies

Fire was October 2010 ... So 4 years and one month since the fire ... Too long in my opinion ... The only logical solution is to raze the whole sorry shell to the ground. And rebuild it sympathetically ... Having done that tho the prospect of a new tenant(s) is questionable as that area has high rates and the Council seem to have moved to 'street food' with gazebo's ... No rates there ...

We don't want any 'rag heads' here was one post ... I think the HT are far too safe with their Editorial decisions ... Also with their totally random permissions on comments on articles ...

'Street cleansing' ~ just more Council speak ... I got about 3 foot of leaves behind my house that have fallen from the Council trees (they fall in October) ... Usual mud bath a result ... I perceive contact with the Council over that to be pointless ...- 427 replies

This is not about giving Bill Longmore some slack as every post I have ever read anywhere understands his health issues ... It is more about the fatally flawed system and more locally it is about apparently getting Barrie Sheldon as PCC for the duration (as that is what i perceive it to be) on the back of no votes ...
