Hereford Voice, leading the way for others to follow...
Adrian Smith replied to Hereford Voice's topic in Open Forum
Your Herefordshire is/has become the place NOT to go to, unless you want to feed clickbait, anti council goading and Today Is National (insert persons Christian name) Day crap! They claim they merely report news, in fact they appear in my opinion to sow more division and indirectly incite bile, but in a very disguised way by just repetitious controversial posts that they know will anger people.- 126 replies

Perhaps the Pot Trumps scheme could have the strapline of 'sponsored by every repair garage going' or a local tyre firm, as they are the ones benefiting from the motorists misery.

Great initiative. Hopefully the council get tagged into every one to shame them into sorting asap. The roads truly are horrendous, the worst they have ever been I would say.

Much as think the Lidl going there will cause issues, especially traffic/highways safety, this type of JR appeal on the grounds laid it is very unlikely indeed to succeed.

Who knows when or if this will be funded and come to pass, but for the western bypass I think it is wrong that the route is so close to Belmont Abbey and the tip of the housing estate there. NIBMYism - yes. Surely it could be diverted slightly further away.

I think the chair was acutely mindful of losing any subsequent appeal and the considerable costs involved to the council in defending any appeal. I normally slate the councillors but the crazy 'expert' opinion of the highways and transport officers meant there was no easy evidential way to turn it down, though those of us with enough knowledge and experience of the area can see the inherent problems that will manifest once the store is built.

Quite agree. It is madness.

didn't mind how it went either personally, but I was flabbergasted by the highways/transport modelling & so called expert opinion that there would no be additional traffic issues and/or highways safety risks. Its gonna be wild with traffic trying to exit the site turning right.

Over £200,000 To Be Spent On Anti-Terror Bollards In City
Adrian Smith replied to Hereford Voice's topic in Open Forum
Don't think so. It mentions no plans to change the current traffic regulation orders, so existing vehicle access times will be unchanged.- 5 replies

This will never get built. As for the western bypass who knows. I'm not against it, but the red route that was deemed best a few years ago was too close to Belmont Abbey and the Belmont housing estate.

Over £200,000 To Be Spent On Anti-Terror Bollards In City

Hopefully will never be needed but if you don't have them and then something happens, there would be plenty of recriminating and finger pointing...- 5 replies

Certainly respect both views above and there are plenty of grounds for objections. If the hotel could be replaced with community services such as doctors, dentist etc than I would be in favour of that, but that is not on the table and is akin to people wishing for things like Matalan, Toby Carvery etc at the former Debenhams store. Lidl must think that have a good chance of succeeding as they would not have applied. It will no doubt go to Planning Committee though and there are many dinosaurs on that who oppose most developments of any sort. If they refuse it, will Lidl appeal to the Planning Inspector who may or may not over turn it? Will take years not months to be concluded if that is the case.

Provided any highways/traffic issues can be mitigated, hope this gets approved. Lidl are a decent supermarket and cheaper than Tesco/Asda.

May Fair Pay Herefordshire Council £50,000
Adrian Smith replied to Hereford Voice's topic in Open Forum
Seems like a fair price both to the Showmans Guild and also for the the significant overheads in moving all the planters of which there is too many and which the public had no say over. Another one of Harrington's babies that he has now departed from having any responsibility over, but the costly legacy of having to move them each year remains.- 2 replies

Change Of Administration At Herefordshire Council
Adrian Smith replied to Hereford Voice's topic in Open Forum
Not sure I want/trust any of them to be honest. Being a Cllr is a poisoned chalice though thesedays. With no money, adults and childrens services swallowing up what budget there is, combined with social media (especially YH) stirring up hate - its not a role I would want! -
police don't provide specific cover for public events unless they are paid to do so. mayfair people provide and pay for this security I think

Three Counties Hotel - Public Statement
Adrian Smith replied to Hereford Voice's topic in Open Forum
So the key take away from all that is that : "It is anticipated that all arrivals to the hotel will be adult males" - no doubt young single males. No surprise really, but can only see negatives rather than positives for the city as a whole. Time will tell.- 3 replies

They are definitely here now, as seen a couple of groups of young single ethnic men walking down from Three Counties and Belmont Rd into town today.

Hitchener not Kitchener. I think many did not turn out due to: a) apathy b) seeing it as an already done deal with little chance of influencing anything c) waiting to see the (probable negative) impacts and effects once the mainly single men with nothing to do with their time arrive.
