  1. Ridiculous - it's not as though he's suddenly upped and gone (like someone else ...) - they've had ages to advertise for a full time replacement. Looking at the job requirements/description, it's no wonder the Council are in the mess they're in. "Ability to develop long-term relationships and networks external to the Organisation" says it all really.
  2. They would have us believe that the hub is still on the agenda, but we don't want to rush into things do we? Travel by any means other than car is to very, very low on the agenda for the present cabinet.
  3. I see that the site is now up for sale for £1.1million ... can't see that flying off the shelf anytime soon. One shop when available to rent at £70k pa. All the Council's weasel words about 'getting on with it' and 'compulsory purchase' seemingly worthless. Same old ...
  4. Seems like form of one sort or another is the only qualification needed for admittance to the upper ranks of Herefordshire Council!
  5. It's private property - they can make as much mess as they want to, but it's not a prosecutable offence. Noise might be a different issue or failure to leave if requested by the owners.
  6. I suspect it's not much more than a compilation of local media reports. Until someone from within the Council spills the beans in one way of another, this has been well and truly locked down by the closed doors cabal, which of course merely serves to highlight it and fuel speculation. I note a temporary appointment to replace Mr Robinson has already been made on a mere £800 a day agency fee.
  7. Herefordshire Council's craptapula website isn't working/is working veeerrryyy slowly at the moment, again, but let's hope that this application is dealt with on merit (or lack of it) rather than on the money at stake, as we saw with the 'recladding' of Blueschool House, which was a gross abuse of the planning process by self interested councillors. Given that the sale price is over £0.5m, I'm not optimistic. Yes, a request for listing has been made.
  8. Agreed - look at the railway station drop off parking - 50% for disabled! Ridiculous.
  9. Bottom line is that they're competing businesses - the Hereford University Centre came about very quickly once the NMiTE was mooted, and they already had an established set up - it was really just re-branding (ha!). However, with no campus, staff or money, NMiTE is going to have go some to be ready for pupils for the revised date of 2018/19. To be fair to them, they're proposing something quite radical and different to the established education model anyway, but then so was Robert Owen ...
  10. Perhaps the emphasis is changing at Holme Lacy as well - Wilsley House up for sale now, OIRO £480k, with planning permission to convert to dwellings and build houses in the garden.
  11. Agreed, all credit to Bob Matthews and the Independents for digging their heels in on this - not before time. Where are IOC? They seem to have slipped off the radar all together - do they still exist? So, by my reading, we still don't know the real figures. Let's take the latest figure of £17.5m spend to date minus £10.5m land acquisition = £7m, presumably made up of fees and pre-start works, inc the world's most expensive hoarding at £800k, by Balfour - another nice unchallenged earner for them. That leaves a mere £9.5m to build the wretched thing if the oft quoted figure of £27m is to be believed. Could it possibly be the project will go over budget? Anyone know what the contractors tender figure was? Will we ever know with the Council repeatedly and arrogantly confirming its closed door policy?
  12. Tragic. A steaming turd would be a suitable logo.
  13. Mrs Chave was the wife of Dr Chave, of Chave and Jackson. With my pedant hat on, the title of this thread should say Herefordshire Council, not Hereford Council, which is the Town/City/Parish Council. I am reminded by the slightly huffy letter from the Town Clerk in HT today, keeping the long standing (and rather pathetic) animosity between Parish and District on the boil.
  14. Via David Whitehead, local historian; Moor House was given to the Herefordshire County Council by Mrs. Chave in the 1960s to be used as a Museum of Herefordshire Rural Life but the Council never implemented her proposal. The old Civic Trust investigated the status of the gift but could not find anything that indicated that the fulfilment of the bequest was binding. The Trust got Widemarsh Common and the grounds of Moor House designated a Conservation Area – albeit opposed by most councillors at the time – this was in the 1980s. The Council have treated the building very badly but turned down the recent application for more parking. It is both Grade II listed and in a Conservation Area.
  15. Not proofed very well - I got to page 5 and there is 2. Over x business supported with grants or business advice. 6. Facilitating the building x number of new homes over the past three years. Page 6 - Herefordshire has very low unemployment, x% as of Jan 2016, nding jobs is not an issue within the county, however in 2016 Herefordshire nds itself within the bottom (x%) of local authority areas across Great Britain in terms of average weekly wage. They couldn't even be bothered to bang in some fictitious figures. It's amazing how mediocre 'the best' can turn out to be (or perhaps not). One other thing - HOW MANY quarters can a City have? I see a 'River Quarter' and a 'Business Quarter' emerging along with the six or seven other quarters ... Gave up at that point.
  16. Lovely building, no doubt sadly neglected by the Council whilst in its ownership (see Bath St Working Boys Home et al) and part of Bramers fire sale of anything and everything to pay for the Link Road. Yes, it would be interesting to see how they came to own it - they have an unpleasant record of disposing of property left to the people in perpetuity. I expect someone in the Civic Society might know.
  17. 138 supporting documents and 11 drawings! I expressed concern at the consultation that the proposed accesses into the site were completely inadequate - they haven't changed them.
  18. From the report; 2. Matters in relation to related parties From the work we carried out, we identified one related party which was not disclosed. This was the South West Audit Partnership. The accounts have been updated for this accordingly. 8. Disclosure - Value £200k - Related Parties - The disclosure of related party transactions has been revised to include the South West Audit Partnership.
  19. Here's the management structure as at May 2016 - obviously the graphics department can't keep up with those jumping on and off the merry go round, so it's inevitably out of date. www.herefordshire.gov.uk/media/8060619/directorate_structure_chart_may_2016.pdf
  20. Josie Rushgrove appears to have been promoted to Head of Corporate Finance in the wake of PR's resignation. You could spend hours lost in the disjointed labyrinths of the Council's website trying to find who the monitoring officer is - I did, and I couldn't.
  21. So, we finally get the press release dated 5 September published on the IOC website today; 16 September 2016 /0 Comments/in News /by PaulNeades Director of Resources/Section 151 officer resigns. On May 23rd 2016 members of Herefordshire Council were informed by the Chief Executive that the director of resources, Peter Robinson, had been suspended pending independent enquiries that were deemed necessary. The chief executive emphasised the importance of maintaining confidentiality and discretion while the enquiries were ongoing. Failing to do this would be, he said, potentially damaging both to the individual concerned, and to the integrity of any subsequent investigation. On Friday September 2nd 2016 the chief executive formally announced that Mr Robinson had resigned as Director of Resources (S151 Officer) and Hoople MD designate with immediate effect in order to resume his career in interim management. We the undersigned wish to make it publicly known that we have never been fully briefed in confidence about this very serious matter. It is our understanding that the only people who have been involved in this investigation have been the chief executive, the leader of the council and the council’s monitoring officer – with support from outside investigators. It is our considered opinion that it should be the norm for the council’s employment panel to be involved in such a matter, or at the very least for the panel to be consulted before a final decision is taken. Elected members are understandably concerned at this turn of events but we recognise we are constrained by law as to what we can say publicly in such circumstances. We do however feel that now the officer has resigned, Opposition Group Leaders – as elected members’ representatives, should be allowed far more information. Otherwise the general impression will continue to be “it’s all going on behind closed doors again…… so much for transparency and accountability… nothing changes†Cllr Jenny Bartlett Cllr Terry James Cllr Bob Matthews Cllr Anthony Powers Opposition Group Leaders on Herefordshire Council 5 September 2016 I think we can safely assume now that those 'outside investigators' were, and continue to be, the Police.
  22. Terrible decision - classic 'do as we say, not as we do' move by this shallow and corrupt council. The offer of free money, no matter how bad the outcome for the built environment, was always going to be too much for them resist. The Ward Councillor should be ashamed of herself. Let's see how long it takes before this version of the customer service centre closes all together.
