  1. HT report here http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/12920473.Hereford_traffic_lights__out_of_sync__/?ref=mr&lp=3 Another reason to get rid of the damned things. I understood SCOOT is managed from Worcester, as a hangover from the old H & W days - they have up to date software, which works, we do not. Even when it is working, I see no evidence of intelligent management of the lights.
  2. Tragic. I cycle this road several times a week - there was really no reason for this to happen apart from the unmown grass. I found the Knowledge Centre Manager's comment callous and uncalled for. It is not the general public's responsibility to report each and every overgrown verge - BBLP are paid very handsomely to deliver a service, which they manifestly failed to do. It is interesting that the Council, their paymasters, and who are ultimately responsible, are nowhere to be seen. Let us hope that the Cabinet Member/s responsible reconsider their priorities. As for the Knowledge Centre Manager job title - give these people proper job titles so we all know what they do or don't do.
  3. Sounds horribly like Common Purpose indoctrination to me. Since when was 'Human Interaction copyrighted'? This is not what is required to produce engineers!
  4. This is all very true - as someone who cycles the length and breadth of the county, I see first hand and close up the damage done by increasingly large tractors and trailers, often driven by 16 year olds at high speed whilst texting or talking on the phone. The tyres are not for road use and break up macadam very quickly and the vehicles are often wider than the road itself. Plus of course, the sites themselves are serviced by articulated lorries with their own destructive qualities. Just a thought - should industrial farming sites be situated on industrial estates which are designed for heavy vehicle movements?
  5. Architype are involved in a current planning application for 90 houses in Marden, a similar approach to the Kingstone scheme they designed. 35% of these are to be 'affordable housing'. That's a big scheme in a smallish village, notwithstanding the high level of landscaping and so on they propose. IOC may well have a councillor in place at Marden by the time this application comes to committee.
  6. Taking down the IOC website 2 weeks before the election can't be a smart move.
  7. The most recent planning application was by McCarthy & Stone for 'Erection of retirement living housing for the elderly, (category ll type accommodation), communal facilities, landscaping and car parking. It was refused in May 2012. English Heritage objected, citing the loss of a building of good quality (albeit neglected) would cause considerable harm to the significance of the conservation area (hmmm, Bath Street anyone?). They say Victoria House is an early twentieth century house showing the influence of the Domestic Revival. Oddly, the Conservation Officer did not object, nor Hereford City Council, nor Hereford Civic Society, who merely cited the the lack of renewable energy as a missed opportunity. Ultimately it was refused as the applicants failed to make adequate provision for affordable housing. On that basis, it would seem that a future purchaser may well be able to demolish it, subject to satisfying that criteria (or prevailing legislation). Of course, there will be different councillors making the decision next time round ...
  8. Mr Seb is suddenly noticeable by his absence.
  9. I regularly come across a planning application that has one or more documents that should be with another application. It's not really a confidentiality issue, as they would all be in the public domain anyway, but it does mean that the 'other' application is missing documents which may be crucial as to how it is assessed.
  10. No idea, but it's definitely making a bid for freedom.
  11. There's a surprise - see my thread started the other day about the total inadequacy of this essential resource - it invariably breaks down over a weekend. The millions spent on IT and still it doesn't work - and they've just agreed to pitch another £0.5m into the IT kitty!
  12. Its to the right of Henryka's - what used to be Past Times. It will have 35 covers with a possible 15 more upstairs.
  13. It's H & M - payback for deserting High Town perhaps ...
  14. To quote the great bobby47 'It’s a dog. With fleas.' I need to access it several times a day for my business. The planning section has had endless problems over several years - slow, doesn't work, dead links, false searches, not loading. I log faults regularly - in fairness they are acknowledged and sometimes fixed, but inevitably re-occur. Today is a new low - the whole site disappeared. Yes, herefordshire.gov.uk just went. Completely. Just a third party log in. How can this possibly happen??!! And … it's back. Until the next time. E-government? Seriously?
  15. It was rhetorical question - I merely picked up on your interesting factoid.
  16. Did that include the big one standing empty on the top of Hafod Road? Just what is happening with Brockington? It was supposed to pay for (some of) the Shire Hall and Plough Lane luxury refits. That didn't work too well did it?
  17. Interesting that none of the items I log via fixmystreet have shown up on these reports since we've been able to see them (except perhaps the 'ad hoc c/way defect for Aylestone Hill near the copper kettle' - there are two blocked gullies here I've been reporting for two years).
  18. I'm more concerned about the chronic lack of capital letters and full stops from seb with a little S than I am about what goes in bobby47's back passage! IT literacy - dear Lord! Welcome, Seb!
  19. The new canal basin has been repositioned north of the inner link road, some distance from the original basin (Jewsons), which we were originally told was to be reinstated. The new basin is substantially smaller, in fact the otters get a better deal with a bigger land grab. The new basin is squeezed up against the inner link, a 'proposed development site' and the railway - an unlikely go-to leisure destination. As to who is to pay - who knows? dippyhippy - yes, the council do ridiculous really well!
  20. No roundabout - just traffic lights, and with 5 sets along its length, including those at each end. Coming from Aylestone Hill, you will only be able to turn left onto Edgar Street - tough if you thought this was an inner relief road - further adding to the standing traffic at Edgar St roundabout, already the City's most polluted spot at the moment. Bless, we're going to get an 'otter resting place' though, in amongst all the 'future this' and 'future that', so that makes it all good. There is a plan here http://www.herefordfutures.co.uk/Content/NPA%2010393%20P301%20REV%20B.jpg
  21. Shouldn't that read 'quicker than Jarvis up bobby47's drainpipe'?
