Five people have been arrested during an anti-austerity protest outside Downing Street against the new government. The Women's War Memorial in Whitehall was defaced with graffiti during the unplanned rally, which started outside Conservative campaign headquarters. The crowd, estimated by police at 100 people, then moved on to Downing Street to voice their anger at David Cameron's party, a day after he claimed victory in the General Election. A police officer and a member of police staff have been injured. The officer is being treated for a suspected dislocated shoulder, while the member of staff suffered a cut lip after being struck by an object. Play video "Anti-Austerity Protests In London" Video: Anti-Austerity Protests In London Both are being treated in hospital. Three other officers were assaulted but did not need hospital treatment. No members of the public are believed to have been hurt. A police spokesperson said: "Officers are working to minimise disruption to all road users and members of the public passing through the area." Four of those who have been arrested are being held for a variety of offences under the Public Order Act, the force said. The other has been arrested on suspicion of assault on police. In Cardiff, anti-Tory protesters took part in a rally at the Aneurin Bevan statue in Queen Street. Singer Charlotte Church was among the estimated 200 people to take part. She was pictured with a placard which read: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more." A group calling itself the The People's Assembly Against Austerity claims it is organising another demonstration in the capital on 20 June.

Good shot of the " Bag Lady " Just wondering if there are too many Chain eating house within the OLM . I accept fully that like water Commercial premises must find there own level and either survive or die . -
Just wondering , and it may be a simple answer ........ 1. How did a Church come to own this land ? 2. How much are the possible house builders paying to the church if Planning Permission is granted ? 3 . What will the church do with the 6 / 7 figure sum they will receive from the house builders ? If it's been asked and answered before just guide an old man to the post . Thank you
-
Glenda , we have never met BUT I know that you have been a very good, respected Cllr who worked very hard for your Parishioners, you have served your Patch with so much enthusiasm - the residents you served owe you so much ........you will be a very hard act to follow . Please stay healthy and happy .

Could not agree more , when I saw the % vote and the seats in Parliment for each Party it was unbelievable to my mind , I am sure that others have an opinion also . As an aside , I have felt privileged to read all these Posts , there are so many knowledgeable Poster on this site , and for that I thank you. I also believe that a very special thanks are due to Dippy , he / she has kept us all interested and involved in the local Elections with untiring energy and a few bottles of red ( he / she know how I feel about that ! )

Wow ! Leave the County for 15 hours and returned to 127 emails all relating to the Local Election - I am very sorry to read the results , sadly , as said in a number of comments the Independants and IOC split the votes allowing the Cons to win the seat. I am sure that there will be some serious thinking between the two Parties. Sad to hear that Glenda and Charles were not reelected it's their Wards loss. Dippy , second bottle of wine - you know what that classes you as !
-
Dippy , after all these years I have learnt to deny everything. " Mr Ubique , how much alcohol do you drink in a week ? " Me " don't drink , gave it up in 2012 when you told me I was a binge drinker because I drunk two thirds of a bottle of wine on a Saturday and Sunday and nothing during the week ". And I keep,a straight face ! Tiger tops could get me started again ! Roll on 3pm Friday.
-
Greenknight ....have you ever tried a Tiger tops ? To keep it on post I believe that we will have the same two MPs tomorrow - just hope that locally we are IOC / Ind.
-
Guess that somebody would pick it up .. Role on 3pm Friday.........prior to that I am having lunch with some reprobates I " worked " with in 1965 ..... Will just have to go easy on the leomade !
-
Greenknight , my knowledgable friend , yes you are correct .
-
Greenknight said .........My dear chap "ruck" ...You should be setting an example to the young uns and what about the newbies they are going to think this is an extremist site! Hopefully the young uns and newbies will do some research and realise that Robert RUCK is the IOC Candidate for my patch. Had to smile at Greenknights second paragraph , perhaps my imagination was running wild or it brought back memories !
-
Sincerely hope that IOC sweep the board , I also hope that there is a Ruck involved as well !

Apart from the twenty-odd bishops that sit in the House of Lords? Never a truer word said !

Part of this land is graded Flood Zone 3 by the Enviromental Agency . Means not a lot to me but there must be a reason / evidence for this grading . Having said that I am sure that the Builders / Planners will take this into consideration.........?

Adrian said on the Black Bin post t " I admit I do not recycle, but being single I can get away with one black back a fortnight, sometimes two. I am paying more for less service, so they can stick their recycling where the sun don't shine." And now has voted for the Green Party ! Appears a not thought through decision - I will , of course stand corrected .
-
Further to AV post........... You will wish to know that images from the Herefordshire Regiment archive of pictures taken in the First World War, including some at Suvla Bay, will be projected on to the front of Lloyds Bank in High Town, Hereford. This will be a remarkable display, with the live performances taking place on the evenings of 8 and 9 May between 9 and 11pm. The pictures are on a loop with each one projected for 15 seconds with the whole loop lasting a few minutes

Today my black wheelie bin was due to be emptied . It contained two black plastic bags and a 5 L empty paint container . To the layman , ( me ) it would be classed as plastic BUT printed on the side of this container were the words " Paint can - plastic - not currently recycled " When we returned from town the wheelie bin had been emptied and the empty paint container was placed on top of the lid so my question is - how do I dispose of this container ? ( OK , next week it will be in my recycle bin - if that fails it will be in a bag in the household rubbish bin )

Interesting that comments are not allowed in the HT relating to this story . Would there be a legal reason because one of the parties involved is apparently a Councillor fighting the forthcoming Election ?
-
Must presume that there is no evidence for the Police to act on - one persons word against the other person otherwise I should think that the Police would consider prosecution for sheep worrying or wilfully injuring the animal ( or something similar ) Hope that the dog makes a full recovery and the Cllr is not elected next Thursday .
