  1. Not realy sure what a Glock semi automatic or S and W revolver carried by the Police can do against far superior Fire Power ?
  2. Re arming all the Police Officers - I certainly have my doubts about arming the Police - I think that first of all there should be a full review of the core role of the Police . I have always presumed that it's the Traffic Cars who were the Armed Response cars , ( highly trained drivers , experienced , level headed Officers etc ) today the papers have reported that in each Force the number of Traffic Officers / cars have been reduced - hence , in my humble mind the support for Armed Response Officers . The Service wants dragging into the modern world - like a lot of large companies it's top heavy with management and a bit confused further down the chain. So many roles I thought were the role of the Police have been " farmed out " to other agencies. So as I said previously - let's have a full review of the role of the Police . ( But what do I know .....? )
  3. I was amazed as to how much a new leaser of the Plough would have to put up front - appeared to be over £15000 ( if I recalled correctly ) must put off a lot of potential applicants . One day Dippy I will tell you a story of my experience at the Cott !
  4. Dippy, just go for it - if you have never climbed before the sense of achievement when you put your hands over the top cannot be bettered , well it can , but only by one or two other events !
  5. Megiland posted the latest planning applications - shows that another pub , The Cotterial Arms , in Whitecross has made application to be converted to three flats .
  6. Bobby , just been reading the Bulls Banter for the first time - I would not wish to be associated with them , it appears that they criticise other posters for spelling mistakes , poor grammar etc . Not my idea of a friendly site . My suggestion Bobby is to forget them , as our friend Dippy said , stick with the HV . You are amongst friends who will critise and support your posts without fear or favour .
  7. Thank you Cllr for your post - surprised that a subject this important has not yet made the HT Internet pages yet . Think that twowheelgood has made a very relevant comment - it appears to be the quickest way in getting this part of High Town back to how it was oner 4 years ago. ( but what do I know )
  8. Re Wall St Traffic lights , I wrote to my Cllr some three months ago suggested that the junction should be made a hatched / box junction hopefully to prevent traffic on the main road blocking the junction , it was passed onto Richard Ball from the Council - below is his reply ........... Thanks for passing this on, I will ask the highway engineers who are monitoring this as the changes bed in to consider whether any amendments are required. The new road layout has generally been well received and allows more turning movements than previously. Whilst this issue will be considered, I understand that the designers original intention was to try to create a “shared space†feel that reduces street clutter and markings to improve pedestrian movements across the junction and effectively link the new development to the city centre. I hope this helps. 9. The climbing wall brings back so many memories - reaching the top of a climb , the pride in doing so , no bragging , it's just you and a very trusted mate - I learnt to climb at 15 and 1 month ( after I joined the Boys Regt Royal Artillery at Bradbury Lines in 1956 ) .we were transported up to the Llanberis Pass wearing supplied boots with studs , safety rope and get on with it ! No other way to learn - builds up ones confidence and trust in others who will never let you down -I then joined a group of boys , now aged men who I was willing to die for - no question . We still meet up every year, in April , draw up,a sand bag and chew the cud , that's after nearly 60 years . How many other groups of people do the same ? Twowheelgood - apologies , I have rambled on - but just wanted to clear my mind. Forget H and S , well bear it in mind , but let the kids enjoy themselves - a bit of danger ( to their mind ) is all part of growing up,properly !
  10. Looks like a super day out for the kids - wish the Organisers good weather , good crowd and super ,enjoyable day for all.
  11. Bobby leads a charmed life . I know that one afternoon quite recently he emerged from the Commercial waving The Sun / Guardian and to top it , the Daily Mail at a couple who had just left there - he was thinking , quite wrongly that this couple had left their papers - These papers belonged to the Commercial , delivered to and payed for by the Commercial All I can say , from information received that it was a very good job that one of Herefords finest was not outside waiting with their Tazer charged and just looking for a reason to discharge it . All the evidence was there ....
  12. Bobby , well written . Tasers £950 each - 18 hours training spread over 3 days . Sure that Roger will know the reason why our Community Officers etal look very paramilitary . Wonder why the U.S. Police wear their Body Armour / Stab Vests under their shirts whilst in the UK it's outside of their T Shirt . UK Police now look very intimidating at 10am in High Town. Perhaps the experts will say that by looking tough / aggressive it will calm down volatile situations .
  13. Whoops ! TRAFFIC
  14. Bobby , you always reminded me of a very timid person - you must of had a bad day ? ( nooooooooo, not true ,) You are a person who tells it as you see it - and why not . ( and thats from a person banned from the HT )
  15. Bobby .... I am confused - I know that's very easy for me ! What's the connection with Bulls Banter House and Balfour Beatty House ?
  16. Thank you Colin for taking the time to report and photograph this RTC . The HT have also published photographs on their story of this RTC. A queue of stationary , a wing mirror , a hole in Union St - did not want to look any further .
  17. Are the Council " looking into it " ( apologies , couldn't resist it )
  18. I known not a lot about planning applications - do we , plus all our contacts object to the planning application thereby making the decision to build this road to nowhere harder - will it then go to a Public Enquiry or will the decision be made by one Cllr ?
  19. The painful bit is when you get sacked / made redundant / retire etc - we want our chip back !
  20. Disgraceful - guess that they want to keep their Rat Catcher in a job.
  21. Will admit that Greece is not a country that I have been to or really shown any interest in - well this Topic started off by Bobby has really opened my eyes , it's an old saying that says " there are two sides to every story " well it's apparent from reading these posts that there certainly are . I have read , with interest , all these well written posts and I must declare that I am still sitting in the fence as to which side I should come out in favour of.
  22. Thanks Harry for the further information . Guess that there are two sides to every story - which way should I lean against ?
  23. Bobby - very well and simply explained .......just hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel - and it's not a train !
  24. Megiland said ......but you decide as there appears to be pressure to put this matter in the background. I hope that there is no pressure to put this matter in the background - if it's a recurring problem it's wants to be recorded , the Company / people responsible for this area should be held responsible - so that they can seek out the persons responsible for this problem and take the required positive action . If not it will continue . - luckily we have a super Poster on the case who, will , I am sure update us .
  25. Whoever we vote for in the General Election in this County will not make any difference to the end result ! I fully accept that voting in the local Elections are important .My worry is that so many of the Cllrs who make up the HCC are from villages within the County , if they keep their Parishoners happy they stand a very good chance of being re elected . Please correct me if I am wrong .
