Now I know why there were so many traffic jams in the City today .

Thank you Marc for a comprehensive honest answer . Appears that the ball lies with Central Govt. who do not appear to have done much to modernise the rules for these type of situations .
-
For Dippy. To sustain you through these long winter months pal.

26 November 2014 Share on pinterest_share FROM THE COUNCIL NEWS A sophisticated system for hiding illicit tobacco has been uncovered by a quick thinking trading standards enforcement officer at Herefordshire Council. The council’s trading standards team took a case against Mr Kursheed Kadir, proprietor of Zabka at 16 Eign Gate in Hereford to Hereford Magistrates Court on Tuesday 25 November, where Mr Kadir was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to undertake 150 hours unpaid work and to pay costs of £1,118 for supplying illicit tobacco. The court heard that Mr Kadir, who took over the business last June, was caught in the act of selling illicit cigarettes on 4 July by a council officer who was visiting the premises in respect of an unconnected matter. Council officers then inspected the premises, but were unable to locate where the illicit product was being secretly stored. On 29 July, with assistance from West Mercia Police, a warrant was executed at the premises and Mr Kadir’s sophisticated system of hiding the illicit tobacco was uncovered. Officers found that a wireless doorbell system was being used to alert staff located on the top floor of the premises, so that they could quickly move the illicit tobacco onto the flat roof of an adjoining building. A 60cm wide opening had been made in a solid brick exterior wall, so that custom made trays of illicit cigarettes and counterfeit hand rolling tobacco could be pushed through the hole in a matter of seconds. The opening was then hidden behind skirting boards and shelving, so that officers would not be suspicious when they inspected the room. However, due to the quick reactions of a trading standards enforcement officer at the start of the raid and despite being hampered by staff, the officer was able to catch the staff in the middle of sliding the illicit tobacco onto the roof. Mike Pigrem, head of trading standards and licensing, said “Illegal tobacco has strong links with crime and criminal gangs, so many of the people smuggling, distributing and selling it are involved in drug dealing, money laundering and people trafficking. Selling illegal tobacco is a crime and the council’s trading standards team is doing all within its powers to tackle this growing menace and potential health ‘time bomb’ within the county.†Patricia Morgan, Cabinet member for corporate services, said: “The council fully supports trading standards and the police in cracking down on the illegal tobacco trade in our county. Peoples’ health is at risk, as children and young people are often targeted by those who sell illegal cigarettes, making it even easier for them to get hooked on smoking. Cheap cigarettes also make it harder for people to quit and remain smoke free.†If you have any information on people dealing illegal tobacco products, please contact trading standards on 01432 261761.

Believe hand on heart that all my answers would be No..............but wondering what I would do in that position - I will never know . I think that I am a loyal honest person , OK some 11 years ago I received three penalty points for speeding on a elevated section of road in Newport S Wales , 36 in a 30' . So , yes I have broken the law . Was a bit p off with the location of the speed Camera as well. When I saw the post that Flam put up was wondering if they had a person / incident in mind . Note also the reference to men ......

From Here for Hereford FB Clouds looming for Herefordshire Council's plans for a Southern Link Road? Despite Cabinet recommending their preferred route SC2 (joining the A49 with the A465 across open countryside south west of Hereford) for approval, the Council's General Overview and Scrutiny Committee has called the decision in. The Committee will meet at 2.00 p.m. in Shire Hall on Tuesday 2 December 2014 to scrutinise the decision and possibly refer it back to Cabinet. See http://councillors.herefordshire.gov.uk/documents/g5296/Agenda%20frontsheet%20Tuesday%2002-Dec-2014%2014.00%20General%20Overview%20Scrutiny%20Committee.pdf?T=0 The Southern Link road was consulted upon as part of a South Wye Transport Package…

Should of added Mr Longmoor is about 76 years old . He was 74 when he was elected by others . I did not vote for anybody , nor I will in future ! I accept that because I did not vote a lot of money was wasted ...........I am sure that if people in Business wasted so much money on such an appointment it wouldn't take them long to be bankrupt . As I said earlier and I will say it again - the sooner West Mercia and Warwickshire complete the joining up to become one Force / Service the better it will be - and of course money should be saved .
-
What I have learnt - which might be good news to our younger poster - when you get to a certain age Chuggers come to the conclusion that either we have everything ( wrong ) or we are going from hand to mouth ( wrong again ) so Mrs U and I can walk past M and S with confidence that we will not be approached and commit ourselves to an unwanted Standing Order whereby the Chuggers receive a very high percentage of my first few Standing Orders.

With his health issues he should make the decision to step down - to continue for another two years drawing £75000 a year plus expenses etc. brings another thought ......money plus PCC Pension plus his Police Pension . A lot of us are released ( that's the best way I can say it ) from the profession we have served loyally for a good number of years BUT the PCC can " soldier " ( excuse the pun ) on way into his 70s .
-
Just my thought .........why do we and Warwickshire Council Tax payers need two PCC 's plus their Support Staff ? Warwickshire Police is the smallest Police Service in the UK and West Mercia not far in front ........added to that we have two CC plus their Support Staff etal . This Alliance between the two Forces is a merger except in name .....just get on with it and save money so that the residents of the two Police Services receive a better Service .

One presumes that if the "owners" ignore the Order HCC will take positive action to sort out this eyesaw .....wow , that will be worth waiting for !
-
Thanks Megilland , we can always rely on you for the answers.
-
Was this Company formed ....28/01/2009 after the fire ?
-
Megilland - if you are unable to ascertain who the owner is we must wonder why and what are the mysteries owners real intentions are ?
-
Thanks Greenknight , I will enjoy it .
-
Cllr please read my first paragraph where I said just that plus a bit more . I will further add that I do not want to get into a war of words relating to the PCC.
-
Greenknight , as long as the bags are "armless " and the " body " in charge of refuse aren't looking into it - guess we will have to use our " head " for security we could take it turns to keep an " eye "on it. We don't want to make a "grave " mistake because we haven't a " leg " to stand on . We could meet " PM " . On second thoughts this is all rubbish .

I am aware that the PCC has been ill recently - I sincerle hope that his recovery is full . Good to hear that he is standing down ....in two years . I personally do not agree with the PCC , the Post is expensive , suppose to be cheaper than the previous Police Authority .....was reading Midland News anspd saw that Northamptonshite PCC had cost , to date this year £400,000 more than the old Police Authority. In connection with "our" PCC Office some time ago I read that he had given West Mercia Police £1.5 million a year for 3 years to fight Rural crime - out of interest I emailed his Office to ascertain how and what they were going to do with this money .......easy question I thought ........well after about two weeks I received an acknowledgement that I would receive a reply in a given period of time , I then received an email asking for my phone number and availability because the PCC wanted to speak to me , gave times of availability, not suitable to him , gave more times etc . Was advised that he would phone in a three hour window , he didn't . Further exchange of availability, still no phone call so I gave in , surrendered etc .didnt hear anymore except a very slight apology . I know that some Posters would have taken it further , felt that in my time of life sitting in the sun away from the phone suited me. To date I have not read or heard how this money was being spent -
