Until the start of this new system every other week they collected both my household rubbish and my recycled bin , all put in seperate compartments in the same vehicle . My question is why didn't they continue this system in my area , OK , we live in the Country and maybe this system wouldn't work in the towns but it worked in my area , this would save them travelling around this route about 26 times a year .

Biomech -Good Morning , just another thought , many , many years ago my hobby was Stamp Collecting , people gave me stamps for my collection ........My question is. .....as collecting grass appears to be your hobby would you like others to help you increase your grass cuttings collection ?

Should Pedlars travel from house to house selling their wares immediately for delivery - Betterware springs to mind ( if they are still in business ) Just guessing now , is it Hawkers who can sell there wares in towns but are not allowed to go from house to house , If I'm wrong it's nothing new ! Some Councils also insist on Street Licences , presume to main reasons , 1. Revenue for Council 2 They can control the number of Licences issued whereby , if I am correct , somebody can get Pedlars Certificate in one Police Area which allows the holder to carry on their business anywhere in the UK ? Or maybe just England. Tell me more O wise ones .

One of the Counties NHS bosses said on BBC Hereford and Worcs that the patient went to ASDA drop in because he felt that he had the symptoms of an infectious disease ......perhaps , he should have stayed at home and sought assistance from there . Just a thought . Good to hear all well , hope he makes a full recovery. Sure that there will be a full review of the action taken from the initial action taken by the Drop In Surgery ,Ambulance First Responders right through the system .

Herefordman75 - Thanks for that info - problem is that anything similar is a fair target in the lane , the tractors and other farm vehicles are trying to make the lane wider by running over the verges - only started this year when the Coop Fruit Farm was sold to another Company . As an aside I spoke to the driver / attendant of the household rubbish vehicle last Friday , for the first time in the 9 years we have lived here the Refuse Vehicle came down the lane rather than up . Spoke to the New Driver / attendant ( the only person on the vehicle - ) he apparently has been given a list of properties on his Round and a free licence to decide his route ! Has agreed to place the bin further back from the road . Further to that - I worry about Biomech grass cuttings so here is my tip of the day , the wheelie bin is placed up to the back of the bin and once contact is made with the clamp it's automatically lifted up and tips the contents into the cart without the lid opening until the bin is verticle sooooooooo perhaps it's worth a try . Once it's on landfill it will soon blend in .

I think that Mr Jones is trying to deflect attention from the Welsh NHS . There is a recent very bad report criticising the Welsh NHS.

Thank you for the update Marc , very interesting - may the initiative continue - there has been quite a bit of discussion on the Black Bag / wheelie bin post about HMOs which may not be licensed and are generating more black bags than are allowed in the one wheelie bin.

I hope people know that the Police will accept surrendered firearms at any time , you do not have to wait until a Surrender Campaign. When my mother went into a Care Home 3 years ago Mrs U and I had to clear her home and found two .22 pistols , I wasn't able to ascertain from my mother who suffers from dementia- ( now 93 ) where they came from -with hindsight I believe that my Grandmother who lived for some time in the USA carried them in her handbag in the USA . I as NOK certainly didn't want them so I surrendered them at Hereford Police Station . I advised the Clerk what was in my bag and where they were found , assuring her that they were not loaded and presented them to her . Completed a surrender form , job done.

It's my Household rubbish collection day tomorrow - my decision is , shall I get up at 0625 tomorrow to put my bin out at the curtlage of my home or do I do it tonight . Let me explain my problem ( well one of them !) we live on a country land 3 m wide. Coming up the lane just before our home is a bend, visibility around the bend is restricted . The front of my home is about 5m back from the edge of my boundary , it's all hard standing which vehicles use as a passing place - I have no problem with that - the problem that I have is that for the last 9 years I have placed my bin / black bagby the house so that the bin people have to roll it an extra 5m to the vehicle . In the past this has allowed vehicles using the lane including many farm vehicles a layby to use so that vehicles may pass in safety. The new collectors, for whatever reason ( think that it's their instructions , which are black and white with no discretion ) have been placing the bin on my property but only a smigin off the lane . If I am at home I can rescue the bin quickly otherwise it's parked / dumped correctly on my property but within the firing line of vehicles using the lane. Rambling on but I am glad to read on the bin that it's the property of HCC so I presume that they will replace it if damaged by vehicle etc I will finally add that I am going to ask / request that the bin people do return the bin closer to our home

As GDJ said , these restriction , however much they are needed just move the problem elsewhere . I believe that the Council should be thinking park and ride from the edges of the City , I suppose that they won't because they would loose money on the long stay parking in the City . A good example of moving the problem on is because of the Pay and Display parking at the Leisure Centre , Homer Rd. A good number of people using the Leisure Centre ( not me ) now park on Homer Rd. The Council have now had to put down double yellow lines the City side of the entrance for a distance of over 50m . I can fully understand why - visibility for vehicle exiting the Leisure Centre was restricted . Wether the lines are legal is another discussion point but it has desired effect . Also some users of the Leisure Centre now park on the Business Park by Halfords etc.

Just wondering if the Council are aware of these houses of multiple occupancy .? Don't they have to be registered with the Council ? Must add , nothing has hanged in my house - one and half bags of household rubbish and a ful recycle bin. I am sure that Megilleland can advise me on how the Council propose to save ( I think ) £500000 with the new collection system . And is that before or after they have paid for the black wheelie bin including delivery etc and adjusting the rear of there vehicles to take wheelie bins plus the purchase of new vehicles ? Thanks dippy , amended . Hope my previous didn't offend anybody .

Attended St Peters Sq this morning for the Armistice Day Service . Very good turnout considering the adverse weather . We did wonder that because of the weather the primary school children would attend , as they have done on previous years. They did , full marks to their teachers and helpers for taking the time to escort the youngsters to the War Memorial . It doesn't end there because I am sure that prior to their attendance the children had been doing Projects etc. on the reasons why they attend the WM on Armistice Day. Thank you from an old Veteran . ( who like Slim has lost very good mates just doing their job ) RIP COMRADES.

Ubique replied to Colin James's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
Slim , thank you for taking the time to do a "Review" . If you enjoyed the meal etc. after your experiences in Japan it's a very positive sign. Hopefully you can translate what Dippy posted a couple of posts ago ........ Do I need to take the matter further ? You will note that Dippy received a ticking off from the Adminstrater for drifting off post so he / she is a law unto themself it appears . -

My new collection day is Friday's - Boxing Day is on a Friday - can understand that there is no rubbish collection that day - but according to the Council website we will have a collection two days later on the Sunday - that's OK by me if it means that as many workers as possible get to have Christmas with their families.
