  1. Hey Dippy , yes the weekend went very well -only just recovered . Paper plates , all recycled .Brought to much beer and wine but ,Hey Ho I guess it will be drunk in the fullness of time !! Re Armed Forces Day , I am on a Military Charity Stand 1000 to 1200 if you are passing.
  2. Received -1 from somebody - I will accept opinions - if the person is prepared to post a comment . To explain- this person "groomed" vulnerable females then slept with them whilst on duty - so we are paying him to do this !! It's not right - made worse because he had been warned and fined by his employees previously for a similar incident. If somebody wishes to support this person please take the time to post your comment. Thank you.
  3. Note that the Flag Raising On Monday has not yet made the HT - am I surprised NO . I do not believe that the HT have any interest in reporting matters relating to the Armed Forces - and I believe that this is because nobody from the paper has any knowledge of the Armed Forces . In Hereford we have one of the best Regiments in the world so HT wake up , taste the coffee and support our Forces. If the HT have no knowledge of the Forces I suggest that they find a knowledgable ex SF and pay him a retained ! I have emailed the Editor of the HT with the above .
  4. Thank you - guess we will ******Colin, hand up , just given Aylestone Voice -1 when I wanted to give him +1 , can you amend please. Aylestone Voice - apologies.
  5. Mrs Ubiuqe and I are starting off the week , as we have done for the last few years by holding a BBQ this evening and a Curry Lunch tomorrow for 15 men I served with as Boy Soldiers at Bradbury Lines , Hereford between January 1957 and April 1959 , we then scattered all over the World as Regulars . Of course , their wives and partners are coming too - so it's busy but very enjoyable weekend , sandbags will be pulled up into a circle and stories told , in the main starting with " Do you remember when .......? Happy Days ( most of the time ! )
  6. Dippy - that's amazing and very comenderable - you have actually read to 121 -
  7. Wasn't going to do anymore comments but I couldn't ignore twowheelgood comments , he is talking about a different stretch of country lane . I posted the below in December 2013 in the Pothole Post - I have since been advised that that it cost £23000. Add that to the £10000 it cost to clear the Travellers Site between Burghill and Tillington .........said enough .. With all theses potholes around the County , some of them really dangerous both for cyclists and cars why , Oh why did the Council contractors and Balfour Beatty spend all week preparing and tarmacking the whole length of the single lane road running between the entrance to Stretton Nursing Home and the road which runs between the Bell PH at Tillington and Credenhill , a distance of over 500m . No more than 20 vehicles a day use this road. Unbelievable waste of time and money. - our money .
  8. For an elected Councillor to say what she said is unbelievable We have fallen Into the trap the Council wanted us to , soon we will be standing at the side of the road and throwing our recyclable stuff into the recycleable wagon and the next week Into the rubbish wagon. All they want us to do is pay their expenses via the Council Tax . THATS MY LAST POST - HAD ENOUGH - just like my best mate Bobby 47
  9. Thank you Roger for enlighting me with that information !!
  10. I emailed the Editor re the missing two words describing the accent of the alledged attacked , and good on him - he has replied Hello Ubique The story - that did not make this week's print edition - that has been earmarked for next week's issue and has the missing phrase in it. Sometimes web versions of our stories are abridged and that is what has happened on this occasion. Thank you for contacting me. Clive Joyce Editor Hereford Times
  11. LBJournel , I wish you well , enjoy your holiday and live for today .
  12. The paper was free in the City but we that live in the " Sticks" had to pay 50p for it . I also thought that it was a better paper than the HT - thinking perhaps that the HT might now reduce the cost of their paper bearing in mind that it's possible that more advertisers ( except Biomech ) will use the HT for advertising . Always sad when people lose their jobs , wish them well .
  13. Bobby old mate , this is a sad time - you must have your reasons which ,of course I will respect . As Dippy has said you will be missed.. It was you that encouraged me to come onto this site , not by asking or suggesting I joined - it was your supurb posts / rants that encouraged me and I should think others joined for the same reasons . Nobody got away with critising your comments - they only did it once and realised that they had walked into a bear trap and moved over to the side of logic and fair play . Bobby ,hopefully we can meet up for a jar or two. Thank you for your past support.

  15. Two arrested following dog attack in Leominster Two people have been arrested following an incident in Leominster this evening. Police were called to Bridge Street in the town at 6.35pm after two dogs are believed to have attacked and caused three people to be injured. The dogs, believed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a Bullmastiff, were seen attacking one woman in the street. Members of the public attempted to assist and Police managed to restrain one of the dogs. One woman was taken by air ambulance to hospital and is believed to have serious injuries but is currently in a stable condition. A further two women are also believed to have suffered injuries and received medical attention. The restrained dog, believed to be the Bullmastiff, has died at the scene. The other dog has been taken away and seized by police at this time. Police remain at the scene as they try to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this incident. Officers would like to reassure members of the public and thank people for their support during this incident. The arrested individuals, a 21-year old man and a 26-year old man, remain in police custody at this time. Anyone with information about this incident should call police on 101, quoting incident reference 0597S 310514.
  16. I am registered with the WMP to receive their Press Releases as I presume the HT is - I received the Police Press Release about 1700 last night. I read in one of the Nationals that a man - believed retired Police officer had to stab his neighbours dog to death because it attacked his dog and him in his garden I have always owned rescue Golden Retrievers , two of our previous dogs were attacked for no apparent reason other than the fact that we were walking along a lane - our dogs on a lead - by sheep dogs and injured . I now always have a heavy walking stick with me when I am walking our present rescue Golden Retriever , Charlie . I would have no hesitation in using it to protect our dog , plus of course what the University of Life has taught me ! even to killing the other dog if needs must. Sad to hear that other human beings just watched the attack and did nothing- but sadly , I have learnt that people do not want to get involved for what ever reason . Times are changing perhaps not for the better. Sincerly hope that the victims make a full recovery. I have rambled on but mean every word
  17. Actually Dippy - we have now move on - it's three days a week but no snickers ! And it's still Aldi wine .
  18. Dippy - the mighty Meatloaf - that's music we turn up loud.......! ( before anybody is thinking about the neighbours we are fortunate enough to be far enough away to not upset them !) We also agree with your sentiments . . Do what you can to help the less fortunate in life - as I said in an earlier comment - when doing it please try and be non judgemental . You will feel good about the whole situation .
  19. When I changed our callender to 1st June the quotation was " To have grown wealthy , wise and kind is real success "
  20. Guess that we will not be invited to Fffiona leaving do ?
  21. What I will say is that if you come across a Veteran or a Member of our Armed Forces who need help / assistance please direct them to one of the Military Charities . To qualify for assistance a person has received one days pay. The Charities are non judgemental - all they want to to is help , the help and assistance also extends to their family. Herefordshire County Council have signed up to the National Military Covenant - part of the Councils involvement is to allow SSAFA and The Royal British Legion ( TRBL) to hold Military Charities Help Desk on Tuesdays ( SSAFA) and Thursdays ( TRBL ) at Franklin House Customer Services between the hours of 11.00 and 15.00. No appointment necessary , just turn up . I know that since the Military Charities Help Desk has been up and running 15 months ago lives have been changed for the better , so please be the Charities eyes and ears - there are still a number of Vets both young and old who need help but for whatever reason do not apply for it. The 24hr Tele Nos. are SSAFA local Tele No :-01432 273932. ( Answerphone out if hours ) . Tele No. TRBL 0808 802 8080. 24 / 7 SSAFA 0845 130 0975. 24 / 7
  22. Colin , it's just my thought for the day , actually , one of the Posters will know that it's my second thought for the day - is it worth you , as our leader asking for a meeting with the new Editor to explain HV policy etc , how we can help the HT as well as the HT helping the HV etc.
  23. What about Tom Jones " The green green grass of Hereford " As an aside I am having to cut my grass every 4 days - first time ever , previously it was once every 7 days - just finished and my cheap gardening gloves have made my hands blue - not with cold but dye.
  24. If you go onto the Council webste the information is there under Planning , it appears that anybody can object , but I am sure they have rules about a high number objecting - apologies that I am not savvy enough to give a link to their web page !
