Old Market - What's With All The Wood?
Ubique replied to Colin James's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
I agree with all the above comments - I also accept that vehicle fumes and smoke ( from car fires etc ) has to be "removed" somehow . Having said that ,there must be other ways which serve the purpose and are pleasing on the eye , especially alongside this major through road . -

From BBC H and W.... Hope that this is not considered off post, I do believe that it has been mentioned earlier in this very long but important Post Fire service boss Mark Yates returns back surgery funds Continue reading the main story Related Stories Fire boss 'claimed for back surgery' A chief fire officer has returned £3,000 of taxpayers' money used to help pay for private surgery. Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue's Mark Yates put the payment towards a £5,090 back operation. It was suggested he should consider resigning but the brigade said the partial reimbursement cost less than paying somebody else to cover his role. Mr Yates said he had returned the sum because he did not want the issue to harm the service's reputation. "It has become apparent that the payment I received has left some staff and members of the public disappointed," he said. "It was never my intention to cause such feelings and I do not wish for this matter to cause further controversy and potentially harm the great reputation of the service - I have therefore repaid the £3,000." Labour councillor Peter McDonald had said Mr Yates, who earns £120,000 a year, should think about stepping down after the news emerged in the Worcester News. "The fire chief has done the right thing," he said. -

A plea to the Council on behalf of Rosé Tinted Rags.
Ubique replied to bobby47's topic in Open Forum
Bobby , your words must pull on the heart strings of anybody with an ounce of compassion , that to my mind must include the majority of the people that live in this County. I thank my blessing that our two lads are both fit and well , I cannot start to think how hard it is for the parents and grandparents of innocent children who have a disability . What I do know is that we have a duty to ensure that the less able are given every chance in life - they will , of course need the help and support of the Statutaty Agencies as well as the layman - hopefully Social Care etc are working in the background to resolve this sad situation soonest. Bobby , I know that if anybody can keep this in the public domain you can , keep banging on , my friend . -

From the HT Police investigation in Eign Gate, Hereford - update 9:11pm Sunday 30th March 2014 in News ONE person has been arrested in connection with a police investigation in Eign Gate, Hereford. Part of the pedestrianised area was closed off yesterday morning, as was the subway running below Victoria Street. Police, through the Southside Cops Twitter account, announced today that "one male" had been arrested. Officers said the arrest was related to a CID investigation at "a casino". Police tape yesterday surrounded the Cashino Gaming store in Eign Gate. Cashino Gaming, on its website, describes its business as a new name on the high street that represents the very best in the adult gaming centre market. -

What gets me is that West Mercia Police are Public Servants who are serving the public 24/7 and thank you for that. I have said before and guess what I am saying is that I am says it again - it's just a pity that the Civilian Support Staff ( Press Office ) do not do the same. This incident is for what ever reason is in the public domain - the Hereford Times have not stuck their noses into the story so we can only presume that it's a non story and the pedestrians walking down Eign St who had to cock their legs over the barrier to cross the dual carriageway, at their own risk were wasting their time. Was expecting the local Police Inspector in full body armour with 6 radios hanging from the convient clips to say ,do not worry , this is an isolated incident, the beggar who frequents the tunnel will be there again with his imposing poise . Rant over -
Bobby , must say that when I saw the heading and your post I was wondering what to expect ! but in my opinion it's a very sensible piece covering a number of points giving the reasons why the UK is a very good ,tolerant Country to live and work in. I know that there are a lot of different opinions on the subject - as there are on a number of other subjects and as long as they are argued / discussed in the correct manner I am happy.

Cllr Hubbard - What Bobby said ( twice) is the truth , will also suggest that if you receive a complement from him it's worth gold. Take your time Cllr with your thoughts regarding standing again and make the decision that is right for you and your family.

‘It was essential that the design should break down silos,’ explains Richard Woolley. ‘ One advantage of reading the posts on the HV is that at even my late stage in life I learn a new meaning of a word - silos . Also learnt that Silos ,while beneficial when used properly , can be abused . One of the behaviours that is prevalent in silos is local optimisation where decisions get made that are good for the silos , but may be bad for others or the company , my research also suggests that it can push people to become very secretive and not want to share anything with the people they should be sharing information with .

Thanks Colin , I misunderstood what our friend Bobby was saying. Senior moment - will only get worse but with the help of people like you we will struggle on .

The NHS pay for these people who's "illness" is self inflected to receive treatment , but a child with life limiting illness is refused apparent life saving treatment . Mrs Ubique and I get very confused as to how the human race priotise NHS treatment. As I have said in previous posts we are very content that we are in the twilight of our life . ( As an aside , some 8 years ago Mrs Ubique and I travelled , over 3300 miles for her to receive treatment for breast cancer , OK it was spread over 24 days but.........)

When I watch the Jeremy Kyle Show ( sometimes) I realise how uncaring / unloving sex becomes , hear that one person lies down. ( for lack of a more used word ) with three / four members of the opposite sex within 24 hours , sad and unbelievable . Mrs Ubique and I were only saying this morning ( before a nice bottle of Aldi wine ) we are so glad that we are in the twilight of our life . We like Bobby and Hippy plus other Posters know very well what is wrong with Society but know that we haven't a cats chance in hell of putting it right . They will reap what they sew !!!!!!

Re new location for the Fire Station , just a thought , might have been considered before in this very interesting and worthwhile post. With a bit of planning and design could not a part of the City Bus Station area be considered , appears to be a very good location , central and with very good access onto the major roads of this City . -

Felt that Cllr Hubbard's post was an interesting insight into the decision making system relating to the Fire Service requirements. Thank you Cllr for the update , it is appreciated . I accept that ,if there is a need for a new Fire Station it will have to be located fairly central for operational reasons. -
Herefordshire CC Press Release Hereford link road public inquiry to be held 18 March 2014 The proposed city link road in Hereford took another step forward today as the Secretary of State for Transport and the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government announced a public enquiry will be held in April. Negotiations with landowners along the line of the proposed road to buy their property by agreement have been ongoing for a number of years but in March 2013 the council made a decision to invoke compulsory purchase powers to secure the land in case we could not reach agreement with any of the landowners. Following the making of the orders by the Council on 23 August 2013, a number of objections to them were made. As required by the relevant inquiry procedure rules for both orders, it is necessary to prepare and serve upon each objector, and the Secretary of State for Transport and the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, a Statement of Case for each order explaining the Council’s case for them and the reasons for the making of the orders. The council’s Statements of Case were served upon the objectors and both Secretaries of State on 9 January 2014. The inquiry is the next step in the process for the link road proposals and is an opportunity for Herefordshire Council to set out its case for the road and for those who have objected to be heard. This Inquiry will be held starting on April 23 at 10am at Gardiner Hall, Royal National College, Venns Lane, Hereford HR1 1DT

Dippy , a very good Post . Not many Cllrs , if any , want to put their heads above the parapet and give their views on what is going on. They appear to post very quickly when they want to post good news , bit slower when they appear to know that the news is bad. -
Bobby , hope that you make a full recovery and there are no after effects . My recent experience with this hospital is a year ago when I decided that my left thumb was in the way of my axe whilst I was putting the Xe into its cover . Do not laugh. Went to A and E The treatment that I received was excellent , told that I would have to return the next day to have the ligaments joined up as there was no Consultant on duty to do the OP that night . OK that's fine , the lovely nurse then gave me a cup of coffee and a ham sandwich .............a few minutes after I had scoffed the Sarnies a Consultant came into the room and said " Right Ubique , we are ready for you " Nurse said " he had just had a drink and food " .........OK .give in. Told that they would phone me to fix up,a time for the Op......I now go home after 5 hours .......ringing in my ears was " Nil by mouth from midnight !! " 0730 the next day tele call , Please come to the hospital by 0815 , which I did , Still Nil by Mouth , When I collapsed in the ward due to dehydration at 3pm they had to put a drip in me ...long story short , I went to the Operating Theatre at 5pm . They then did a super job. Mrs Ubique and I have had many discussion about the NHS and the limitation we want them to do when push comes to shove . Nobody , but nobody will shove anything into a place we do not want it - just control the pain . Done my time , on a bonus , 30 score and 10.
