I know ,and understand why that I am in the minority when it comes to a black snd a green wheelie bin . They suited me for 8 years before I moved back to Hereford. I have said before , and I will say again , it must be managed right , houses which are not suitable for two bins should not have two.Simple! Likewise householder who are unable to move their bin(s) to the allocated location for collection should be assisted by the Refuse Collectors ( think it happens now ). The photographs that Megiland and Roger have posted are a sad indictment on our Society , where has the pride gone. There is a motto flying around Hereford "who cares who pays - as long as it's not me ! " it appears that the Council will , at some cost clear this rubbish up . Perhaps the Council should be chasing the apparent offenders. Having said that , maybe , just maybe the issue of a black wheelie bin ( made in the UK ) will stop some of this anti social behaviour . I will also add that the two week collection I received in South Devon from 1995 for 8 years was , in the main , I think , with a Labour Govt. In power . I am sure that the "experts ' will soon post the dates they were in Power.

Further to my last , if the Council do decide to go ahead and issue householders a black wheelie bin I hope that it's made in the UK and not Germany ( like my recycle bin )

We had both black and green wheelie bins in 1995 in South Devon. Had no real complaint with them , the only problem we experienced was when we had a turkey / chicken carcuss and the collection day was a week or more away , I then stuffed the carcuss into a carrier bag and dump it in a Council waste bin. I accept fully that not all houses are suitable for one ,let alone two wheelie bins , that's where the Council MUST use common sense ( oh dear !) and plan accordingly .

Why oh why has it taken so long to make an issue of it. - and I am so glad it is now in the public domain , I get the feeling that Cllr Chappel was probably getting very frustrated when he worked as a Care Worker , seeing how things needed to change but was unable to do it - now , hopefully he can shout from the top of the Shire Hall and I know that Bobby and I , with others , will be there to support him . I could have probably worded my thoughts better but , in short , anything we can do for the less fortunite in society to make their difficult life better we will.

Just completed the parking questioner ...........left the last page with the most questions on blank , one of the first questions is a list of nationalities including Welsh Scottish , Irish etc the explanation is that it's to ensure that they receive answers from the complete cross section of society , I do wonder what happens if they do not. I am sure that wiser grown ups than me will put me right

Yep that's the one , it's good that they have turned the pub car park into a Pay and Display with very fair charges , I presume that it subserdises keeping the pub open .

Since HCC stopped the 2 hour parking concession for the over 65 some 2 years ago I am proud to say that I have never paid HCC to park in one of their car parks . I usually park in one of the Supermarket car parks - do my shopping at the store then , if required walk into town for banking , coffee at Ascari etc. When I have to park all day I use the pub car park in Eign St ( name escapes me at the moment) £2 for 4 hours or £3 for all day.

Today I saw it all , just ! I drove up Edgar St intending to travel up Eign St towards Whitecross , approaching Bewell St Traffic Island I joined the right hand lane ,my correct lane , an Audi 4X4 decided to move, quite aggressively into my lane in front of me, no problem , to old for road rage , we drove around the Traffic Island , keeping very correctly in the right hand lane , once we had cleared the Island and were driving very nicely into the slip road for Whitecross the Audi driver realised that he/she had make what is commonly called a cock up - the driver realised that the car was in the wrong lane because the Audi wanted to go south towards the ASDA island . Before my very eyes the driver moved to the left into the next lane , this action forced the car travelling in Lane 2 into Lane 1 , if this action was not taken it was apparent that the Audi would have hit the red car in Lane 2 . However this action caused the car in Lane 1 to swerve into the Tesco car park entrance and the bit of Bewell St where the taxies go. It's apparent that all the signs are there telling drivers which Lane they should be but - something must be confusing strangers to the area.

Thank you Paul for a very comprehensive post . As I said earlier , I wish you and the organisation the very best of success . I am sure , however , there will be times when you will feel that you are banging your head against a brick wall - keep banging - the unbelievers will surrender .

We have all heard of Shakespeare County now we have Dippyhippy County . Can not see you getting Detention . If GDJ decides that you still deserve Detention Bobby and I plus, I am sure others will be protesting in High Town. Well done.

Dippy, so much for education ... It's worth it ...... Wonder if / when's one of our Cllrs went to school and learnt their Tables . Remember when we were give a task of learning verbatim our tables , they are embedded in my mind after quite a few years .

Hey Dippy , had to smile when I saw the Reporter from Midlands Today being "protected " from the starling droppings by a very large umbrella .

Thank you magucroundabout for translating Mr Dearing. "Speak" From HCC press release today .......... Councillor Philip Price, cabinet member for infrastructure, said: “We would like to thank Mike for his commitment over the last two and a half years to establish Hoople as a significant service provider in the county. He has worked with both the council and the Hoople board to grow its customer base and deliver significant savings to Herefordshire Council. “We wish him the best of luck in his new role and for the future. “I look forward to working with the Hoople board to successfully manage the transition period and see the company continue to go from strength to strength.†Reads as if we will follow them to the promised land.......?

In connection with CPTED which I believe in strongly , I am sure that in the old days , going back to the 70 /80/90 both West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police had Crime Prevention Officers covering the area , might be under a different name , they also had Officers trained to Design out Crime , these Officers attended courses at the Home Office Crime Prevention Centre in Staffordshire and were tasked with liaising with the Local Authority Planners etc to view plans of new build and refurbishment including the refurbishment of housing estates . It appears that T4C have taken over this role if they had to give a presentation to the two Forces on CPTED . I certainly wish T 4C the very best of luck , the answers are in the main quite simple using common sense.

From the HT This morning (Friday), the company confirmed that Mr Dearing is to stand down in June to develop a consultancy start-up marketed to “change and transformation†in the public sector. Need I say more , I would if I could understand what he intends doing ?

Jonny I am sure that you are a level headed person however I must disagree with you , my decision is based on what was happening after WW2 in Eastern Europeon Countries when I was growing up as well as when my Father was stationed in Berlin in the late 1940s early 1950s not a place I would want to live , nor would I now , you only have to see the standard of living in Bulgaria , Rumania etc .and the past problems in East Germany. I do however agree with you about the politicians , it's just the young that feel this way I can assure you. Bobby is so right with his thoughts.................
-
Roger , in this day and age what you are saying ( with some inside knowledge I think ) is not very efficient . Having said that I see that there are some well paid jobs on the West Mercia Police website which might improve the system. There is also a very well paid job working for the PCC
-
The Press release does gives the dates of the thefts . It happens quite often with the West Mercia Police Press Office, staffed , I'm sure by Support Staff who may not know the relevance of getting this sort of crime into the public domain. If I am wrong I am.

Bobby , your post proves to the doubters that you can put together a well written article . Mrs Ubique and I often have a discussion about the EU - I will put my cards on the table and say that if there was a vote / referendum about stay in / leaving the EU I would certainly vote to come out . I am concerned about the ease in which they pass Laws which in the main only the UK comply with. Your comments about the poorer EU member countries are having a brain drain is so true - you cannot blame the youngsters for trying to better their life but it is to the determent of their mother country. Should also add that the length of your post suggests that you have time on your hands with the Wye being in flood and you are unable to dangle you hook in the river.

Not another open and shut case ! ( feel for the householders who have had their gate stolen - it will probably finish up in a scrapyard some miles from this County )

Grid Knocker said .............For my money, Violette Szabo is the most shamefully under-recognised of them all (put her name into Wikipedia's search engine to find out what she did) Could not agree more, a very courageous lady . -
I agree K Butt , but there is a difference in "Proof" between Crimimal Law and Cival Law , the sign " trespassers will be prosecuted " often seen on private property is called a " wooden lie " amongst those that know the Law. You only have to see how long it takes to remove squatters from buildings and private property .

The latest photograph taken by Colin clearly shows barb wire running parallel to the path at a height which could injure pedestrians including the most vulnerable children passing along this path , I am therefore surprised that nobody has seen fit to report this to the Authorities. This appears far more dangourous to law abiding users of the footpath than earlier photograph of the perimeter of the hotel.
-
Whilst I do not want to get into an arguement with any poster I must say to K Butt that if a person of any age climbed over any fence or passed through a gate onto private property with the intent to recover a ball etc that would NOT be a criminal offence . To prove a criminal offence one of the requirements must be intent to do a criminal, act.
