  1. Quick question ....does anybody know how much revenue the Council receive by us recycling our washed recyclables ?
  2. Just read every post on this story ,very interesting , could not see the answer to my question , below . One question ,which I am sure that the more knowledgable poster will know - is how much revenue does HCC earn per year from ,I presume selling all our washed recyclables ?
  3. Appears that this design would use a lot of electricity .... But ,hey , who cares ...we would pay our Council Tax without question. Even 5% !! If you believe that you believe in fairies .
  4. From today's Birmingham Post....... " POLICE recorded 23 domestic violence murders in Birmingham in the last three years – including 15 victims classed as ‘high risk’. The tragic deaths were revealed as part of the wide-ranging report delivered to Birmingham Community Safety Partnership. It stated there were 8,657 domestic violence-related offences in the last 12 months, with 7,230 victims. The report also reveals domestic violence offences now account for ten per cent of all recorded crime in the West Midlands and 28 per cent of violence against the person offences." The article, quite rightly reports that Domestic Abuse / Violence is under reported for a whole raft of reasons.
  5. I have a saying ,framed in my home which reads - " The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother " Not much more to say .
  6. Twowheelsgood -and Biomech I agree with both your comment re "wife" , in December I will have been married to the present Mrs Ubique for 50 years and if it's felt that a joint decision has to be made then it is - to suggest that the present Mrs Ubique is a slave is belittling how awful slavery was and not knowing her! In respect of Domestic Violence /Abuse it must be stamped out as much as possible and any initiative including this one by Cllr Chappell is very welcome. Thank you Cllr for your time and effort to support and publicise the cause.
  7. Circulatedby WMP today via their Blogtrott message service. Man Sentenced To Four Years For ‘Vicious’ Domestic Assaults Stephen Wakelin A Hereford man, who went on the run from police after assaulting his ex-girlfriend and hitting his uncle over the head with an iron bar, has been sentenced to four years in prison. Stephen Wakelin, aged 18 (DOB 31/07/1994), of Stanberrow Road, was sentenced on Friday (18 October) at Worcester Crown Court, after pleading guilty to assaulting his ex and using violence to enter her property on 25 May and also, a further charge of grievous bodily harm against his uncle on the same day. Wakelin was publicised as a wanted person following the incident, which began when he entered his ex-partner’s home on Flaxley Drive and punched and head butted her following an argument. His ex then fled to the safety of the nearby home of Wakelin’s uncle - who was out at the time - with her young child. However, Wakelin found her there and again assaulted her by punching her to the face. His uncle returned home and ejected Wakelin from the house. While outside, Wakelin picked up a bar to a dumbbell, which was lying nearby, and hit his uncle over the head with it. The police were then called and although officers arrived within minutes, Wakelin had already left the scene. Detective Sergeant Tim Powell from Hereford police station said: “Despite extensive enquiries in the days after the incident, we were unable to locate Wakelin. “We decided – due to the risk he posed to those involved in this incident – to circulate his details as a wanted person and as a result of this, a member of the public came forward with information, which led us to where he was staying. “We are satisfied with the sentence handed to Wakelin for this nasty and vicious assault, carried out in front of his young child, against people close to him. We hope that his victims are reassured by this sentence and feel safe in the knowledge that he will now be in prison for a number of years.†Wakelin was sentenced to three years in prison for the assault on his uncle, six months for the assault on his girlfriend and an additional six months for an incident which happened in March 2013 where he hit another person in the face with a baseball bat.
  8. Wish the Castle Green event as well as the Round Table event the very best of luck for good attendance , good weather plus well deserved funds . There is room for both events.
  9. On a lighter note - is it possible to float this Cabinet ......down the Wye ?
  10. Think that it's stretching the definition of "honourable" a bit......
  11. I thought something similar happened 12 / 18 months ago , if I am wrong I will soon be corrected , I suppose that the next change will be amalgamation with our near neighbour , Warwickshire Police.
  12. I will put my head over the parapet and suggest that when it reopens there should be a small charge to visit this wonderful building
  13. The sooner that local Councils get away from politics and serve the residents of the locality without being guided by Central Govt. the better . One of the problems with this council is that the majority of the ruling party have been elected by the villages they serve and if they keep them " sweet" they will continue to be elected . That is to the detriment to the residents of this City.
  14. This was posted in May - now September , any update ?
  15. Rest in Peace - condolence to your family and friends
  16. Jim Kenyon said .....Don't hide behind a screen and judge me you dont know me if you want councillors to engage tell us who you are otherwise people will not responed to anything you say in the future . Cllr Kenyon - you did not ask me about not responding to Biomech posts so I will continue to do it . David Williams ( there ! )
  17. From Cllr. Chappell " if you were not so patronising I might bother to spell it correctly. " sounds a bit aggressive or assertive from a Cllr. As for Bobby being patronising - I believe that nothing is further from the truth - he says it as it is !
  18. I have given much thought to this topic - wasn't sure wether to comment or not - however , Bobby is correct , what Cllr Kenyon said was , in my opinion , spin . Not incorrect , but not the full story and if one is ,for whatever reason unable to give the full story please credit the voting public with more intelligence . I am also sure that this young man accepts his error, was not the first and certainly will not be the last to be misguided . I wish him well.
  19. Bobby47 wrote I am aware of the views of Councillor Powell but Id like to know what our other Councillors think about the Rone/Atkinson proposal and explain to us why these two lads didn't receive any support for what was a thoroughly good and well intended suggestion. That is a very good apology Bobby , appears that the "other Councillors " who were very quick to chastise publicly Cllrs Rone/Atkinson are very slow in giving their reasons - or perhaps they are forming a Committee or Sub Committee to give a collective reply . Personally ,I believe that they are hiding under their stone and afraid ,singularly , to reply to a simple question.
  20. I notice that this story, circulated to members of the public who register with the WM Police for their Blogtrott circulation has not yet made the HT website. This happens quite often particularly when the Police are asking for witnesses etc. It's good to see that Colin is once again taking the lead.
  21. Living out in the sticks this paper has not been free for a number of months - if it's purchased from our local village shop it costs 50p. I think also that its 50p from a supermarket in town.
  22. If you are asking me why I left the HT posting , the reason is simple - it's not a paper which truly serves its Community - my recent example is as follows - I have registered with the West. Mercia Police to receive their public circulations ( blogtrott s ) their most recent one related to an assault at Yates in Commercial Rd. Hereford. The Police were seeking information of an assault apparently involving the groups involved which happened earlier the same evening. I received this circulation , checked the HT report on this incident. 7 lines on nothing. - no mention of seeking witnesses to the assault that the Police were interested in - so I copied and pasted the below - guess what - I have been deleted without explanation , and no further comments allowed. This is from a " newspaper " that was blowing its oun trumpet about being complemented by a Crown Court Judge for publicising a Court case. Witness Appeal Following City Centre Assaults - Hereford Police in Hereford are appealing for witnesses following an assault at a city centre bar, in which two men were injured. The incident took place just before 11pm on Thursday, 15 August, at Yates’s on Commercial Road. One of the injured men received a fractured skull after being assaulted outside the venue by another man. This man was part of a larger group involved in an earlier altercation inside the bar between the victim and his group of friends. During that previous altercation, one of the victim’s friends was also assaulted and received facial injuries. PC Ashley North is investigating the assault. He said: “We arrested three men in connection with this incident shortly after it was reported to us. Those men have since been released on police bail while we continue our inquiries. “We are now specifically appealing for witnesses to the earlier altercation and assault, which both took place inside the bar. “The victim was assaulted on the dance floor and then at the top of the stairs. If you were in Yates’s at the time and saw what happened, please call us on 0300 333 3000 quoting reference 719-S-150813. “People can also pass on information anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.â€
  23. Prior to retiring and moving back to this area we lived and worked in South Devon , in 1995 after a lot of hue and cry the Council issued suitable area two wheelie bins , one green for recycling the other black for household waste. The bins were collected/emptied on alternative weeks . I must say that we never had a problem with smell , seagull / unban fox attacks etc. as we did pre wheelie bins .Within a short period of time householders were praising the Council for this initiative. There are , of course locations where this type of collection is unsuitable.

Biomech said .....Although I'm of the opinion that everyone is treated the same - until they open their mouth, that's when I make my judgements. By taking all of the non heterosexual people into a group, it's just causing segregation and treating them differently ;) It often makes me laugh when people in an argument have to point out that "I'm black and I...", "I'm Irish and I...", "I'm *** and I..", "I'm a gypsy and I...".... Well I don't care what you are, I'm not going to treat you differently until you give me a reason to :) Biomech ...I agree with the above paragraph 100% , nothing more to add.
  25. Hey , Bobby and gang , I am a follower - unles I see or hear something against what I and many other have been sent , with the Queens shilling , to sort out.
