From the HT today 1600hrs. Interesting developments , ......... " Herefordshire's new university has announced that it will be based at the Shire Hall and in St Peter's Square. Do you think this is the right location for the university's headquarters? " The HT are carrying out a Poll / Survey .. Guess I know the result !

Only yesterday morning I witnessed a man riding his cycle down Whitecross Rd towards town , he was on the Alms Houses side of the road , on the pavement ,near to the Hospice Charity Shop / warehouse . Nothing unusual you are thinking ......... My attention was drawn to him because there was a small child aged about 3 / 4 years of age sitting on the handlebars with its legs dangling over the front wheel , going on from that the cyclists was wearing a cycle helmet , the child wasn't .

ATM Machine In The Old Market?
Ubique replied to H.Wilson's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
Hope it's more secure than the one that was in Aldi ,Ledbury ! -
This was the town bound pavement between the Church and the Alms House , going on from that , yesterday on the same stretch I saw what I think is called a pedi- cycle ( a pedal cycle with a large box attached to rear ) riding towards town on the pavement . Because the traffic was stationary I was able to observe his progress , at one point where the pavement narrows a pedestrian stepped into the kerb to allow the pedi cycle to pass. As I have said previously , I can fully understand the reasons cyclists ride on the pavement but they must show due care or take the consequences .

If the University take over The Shire Hall I guess and it's only a guess that the County Council will take over the vacant Starbucks premises or even the old Chads premises or at great expense , build a new building at the side of the new "link road " very cheaply , or that's what they tell us . ( Any local Crown Court cases can be held at the Magistrates Court renaming it The Justice Centre )

Can only agree with you , as one approaches the TLs in lane 3 there is a white painted arrow at least 3m long pointing straight ahead , then a few metres towards the TL the white painted arrow directs traffic to the right so it's going to catch out a number of motorists especially visitors to the City .

So we have time to book a day off does anybody know when the great and good will be cutting the ribbon and declaring the road open ?

I haven't a clue of the consequences but I now think we should send them a greeting card saying words to the effect " we have now left you " oh! and here's the bill for giving you the freedom you so like . Goodbye . I accept that it doesn't work like that but my way seems so simple .

Bobby you are right of course , one correction - after banning me they never reinstated me - there is more than one way around an obstruction. In connection with your last Sentance " Suck it up old soldier You've faced far worse ............That is so true and it rested well with me because the end result ( in the main ) was Freedom of so many important things which we take for granted including Free Speech.

As the BBC H And W said at 0900 - The Duke of Cambridge was attending the Cathedral re the SAS Stain glass window. I never mentioned names on the HT site but in their " wisdom " they deleted my comment .
-
You will be aware that during yesterday and today there has been a lot of Police activity around the Cathedral . Police officers in overalls with Spaniel dogs ( Search / sniffer dogs ) etc. At 0900 today BBC Hereford and Worcester announced what was going to happen at the Cathedral , named names etc. I added a comment to the HT article stating that BBC H and W did at 0900 announce what was happening today at the Cathedral - I mentioned no names or what was happening . Within a few minutes that comment was deleted . Why , no secrets were given out , it was in the Public Domain. I have now asked the HT why my comment was deleted - time will tell if I get a reply - I am sure that they check this Forum regularly .

Investigation launched following sexual assault in Hereford
Ubique replied to Colin James's topic in Police & Crime
I understand from the HT that a man has been arrested .......... I do feel that the Police have given out to much information relating to this serious incident, relating to both the apparent offender and the apparent victim . ( I will not elaborate further on my thoughts .) -
If that is true , and knowing this " Council " it is - that is unbelievable and once again shoved under the carpet until sonebody sneaks it out into the public domain !

Hereford Medieval City Walls Left To Ruin
Ubique replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Sad times - that area is part of this Cities history ........ I bet that in the old days the Gunners kept it tidy . -
They certainly use an offensive word when describing their wedding venue facilities at The Forge , Holme Lacy . In their Q and A section ........ " Is the site handicap accessible? "

The RSPCA Charity shop moved to Broad St , near to Ask about 4 weeks ago ........ I understand the move was due to rent increases at Commercial Rd shop .

When I was in Norway some 20 years ago Our Host drove us through a tunnel which went to the top of a view point . The Norwegians had cut a tunnel into the rock , two lane and high enough for a double decker - all the rocks which they tomoved were used to extend their new airport runway . Very efficient .

Last Wednesday I was walking in Commercial Road near to,the old Chads premises at about 11.30am heading towards the Station direction . Initially I was " admiring " the tarmac strip , a metre wide running up both sides of the road where previously there were block paving . When without warning a speeding cyclist riding in the same direction as me brushed my left arm as he road past . He then continued at speed swerving around other pedestrians . He continued across Blueschool St / Commercial Rd cross roads at similar speed with complete disregard for traffic and pedestrians , continued his journey on the left hand pavement towards the Railway Station . Without doubt a serious accident / collision will take place in the Pedestrian Area involving a Cyclist and a Pedestrian in the near future .

Thanks for update Denise .. Very interesting - the question is - where will it end - in a large payout to one and all OR That's the end , we have woken up - no more payouts ?

I had the privledge of driving down Whitecross Road from the roundabout to Ryland St ( collecting a hedgehog from the Vets ) at 4.30 this afternoon ,plus of course the return stop start journey . At this time I saw a number of cyclists on the pavements travelling at speed in both directions . My concern with cyclists who ride at speed on the pavements is the manner they "creep up " on pedestrians walking on the pavement in the same direction as the cyclist . They pass at speed so close to the pedestrian(s) without any warning - accident / collosion just waiting to happen . I can understand but not condone why they ride in the pavement to get from A to B .

Extra Money Needed To Complete Blueschool House
Ubique replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford City
Son of GK , I like that , well done . It's going to cost them more now because the one of the two sliding doors at the Public entrance had been smashed , now covered in plywood , well it was last Tuesday . -
Extra Money Needed To Complete Blueschool House
Ubique replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford City
I heard the same story as Son of GK , the fact that the Planning Application showed a lift doesn't mean that the work was carried out when it should have been . -
Thanks Ragwert , thought about that route previously - will try it .
