Cabinet control of Herefordshire Council could end soon
flamboyant replied to megilleland's topic in Open Forum
Yes thanks Cllr Powell I was hoping you would do just that! Cllr Chappell I wouldn't count on IOC if I were you and I certainly wouldn't trust Cllr Bowen! I would be amazed if IOC got behind this motion, since at the moment they are conspicuous by their absence on recent topics. I am looking forward to Cllr Powell naming and shaming, it's about time the public knew exactly where the interests of our Councillors actually 'Lies'! Cllr Powell do you really think IOC will get behind this motion?- 70 replies

Cllr Powell thank you for the prompt response but mostly thank you for 'never once' shying away from a question. I truly appreciate you taking the time to respond. Perhaps a few other Councillors can take a leaf out of your book, after all when most of us voted I'm sure we voted on the understanding that Councillors would answer our questions, listen to our arguments and enter into discussions no matter how hard that might be! Cllr Chappell I was only pulling your leg, thanks for taking the time to engage with the posters on this forum, we may not always agree with you and you can bet your life we will vent our anger and frustration and scrutinise everything you say and do but please understand we have a good reason and the mendacious posters who grace this forum do so because they are passionate about protecting the people who have suffered at the hands of this current administration and they care about this great city, our children our elderly and our disabled. Instinct tells me your a good man Cllr Powell please keep posting, we are interested in your opinions. Do I think this forum and the mendacious meddlers are having an impact on what's going on? Without a shadow of a doubt Yes!- 70 replies

Cllr Johnson For the Leader of Herefordshire Council to specifically ignore questions from the people who unwittingly voted you into the position you now hold and abuse, it must be galling to see how unpopular you really are! How sad and very unprofessional for someone holding a Public Office to take to Social media to vent at the publics right to free speech! I myself do not have any future prophecies of doom and gloom, I will leave the fortune telling to you since it requires a very good imagination and you clearly are delusional! For now Councillor perhaps you can answer the following question? Which in case you've missed it, it's on the same page as your outburst/ letter. Rather than blowing the trumpet of your over priced suits please explain to the people of Hereford, why - Hereford Council has failed to deliver on promises to rejuvenate High Town? I was also saddened to read about the poor young man who has waited four years on the a Housing List only to be removed under the new legislation! Maybe you could explain to him why several members of staff under your administration managed to jump that hurdle!! Can you also advise who we complain to about your unprofessional outburst? This is not the way we expect you to behave....

Nice find Denise, it's sobering to see it in black & white! There was me thinking Public Sector workers were in the middle of a pay freeze! Makes it all the more hard to take when it's common knowledge that for the select there have been pay increases and roles created to the detriment of our County, our children and our elderly!

Tory party using council website for party political matter
flamboyant replied to gdj's topic in Open Forum
The advert states- The incumbent must be aware of the health and safety regulations pertaining to their work at any time and should take steps, wherever necessary, to protect the health and safety of others in the office. The incumbent’s principal place of employment is in the Leominster office although this can be flexible. The incumbent reports to the Chairman of the Committee of the North Herefordshire Conservative Association. The 'Incumbent' already has a job or have I got that wrong? Wiki- The incumbent, in politics, is the existing holder of a political office. This term is usually used in reference to elections, in which races can often be defined as being between an incumbent and non-incumbent(s). For example, in the 2012 United States presidential election, Barack Obama was the incumbent, because he had been the president in the previous term while the election sought to determine the president for the current term.... Are they trying to be clever or am I being dull? Why can't they speak plan English!! -

Lol!! Biomech who rattled your cage? I'm guessing you're a bit miffed over the black bins? I would save this fighting talk for when it all goes pear shaped, which it will! -
I totally agree with Dippy about anonymity, hopefully the following link will explain why many people remain anonymous http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/aug/01/public-service-whistleblowers-treated-shockingly I have been here and I'm still suffering the repercussions. I would never ever admonish someone for hiding behind anonymity, nor would I ever encourage them to forgo that protection. For speaking out your character will be assassinated, you will be labelled a liar and a trouble causer, your friends will abandon you because they fear they too will be targeted. They will guarantee your protection but then they will try every trick at their disposal because they want you out. In truth your life becomes a living nightmare because you tried to do the right thing. You are well respected Cllr Powell and have always responded to my questions when asked and I hope if I ever step on your toes you will come out fighting! I have no allegiance to any party or any Councillor and I won't think twice about attacking from behind my cloak. The cloak I was forced to don by the current administration...

Good evening Grid Knocker, I heard a strange thing on Saturday when I was buying my haddock in the butter market. It would appear that there were talks about the Council kicking out the traders and moving in the Councillors! Have you ever heard anything so ridiculous? That's another question for the Councillors that frequent these pages but prefer not to comment.... Is there any truth in this rumour? Because if there is I'm certain that will be the straw that broke the camels back!

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
flamboyant replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Does anyone recall this post from another thread? Just in case we forget I wanted to remind everyone! bobby47, on 17 Sept 2013 - 10:49, said: Jim, Yes being a Councillor is difficult. I couldn't do it. Im not good enough, Im certainly not clever enough and so I choose to do this. And 'this', sitting behind a keyboard is no small task. Our job is to vote you into Office. When you do well, we shower you with praise, and some of you get to become Mayor and have the opportunity to switch on the Christmas Lights. But when you do bad or worse sit back and do nothing then we use this technology to voice our views. This is what it is and our democracy is all the better for it Jim. Yes, there are down sides, sometimes without trying I can hurt another's feelings. We all can but I say it's a price worth paying to make sure our local leaders do what they are expected to do and graft and earn their badge of office. Do I feel sorry for Councillors who work hard? Not in the least bit. I hope when they finish their day they are knackered. They choose to embrace this Office and 'stand'. Now, after reading this I'd like you to press the button, raise the Rone Atkinson topic and tell me what you think, even if its to tell me to get stuffed. Hi bobby on the Rone / Atkinson thread look at who get's what and who claims expenses etc I for one didn't stand because of any pay in fact I didn't know you were paid the ethos behind it was ok but it was never going to happen I get the very basic salary and I work very hard for it I offered myself up to be chairman of the health scrutiny committee and not take the extra money to do that job which is around £12,000 per year twice as much as my allowance I did that quietly behind close doors but the new Tory leader choose the former leader of the council of full salary to do the job my concern was we have are backs against the wall financially and we were going to lose the scrutiny officer the two cllrs that put this up had just been shuffled out of a position which they were in receipt of extra allowance , I felt I was and am good value for money check my record if everyone involved would have done it including senior management I would have voted for it but as I said how much was posturing I'm not sure. Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
flamboyant replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Megilleland if you don't understand the figures we are all doomed! If there's anyone out there who has a shred of hope of deciphering Council Math I'd put my money on you! If I had any that is... The simulator like everything else the Council do is a crock of Crap! Cllr Johnson have you ever visited your back offices and looked at how efficient they are? I think not! So how exactly are you going to make efficiency savings! I think you took the word of one of your self serving minions! Try running an audit on the staff in your directorates and find out what they actually do, you have several managers that you will struggle to find, unless you know their home address that is, there's a tidy little sum you can save! Don't even get me started on the 2pm finish Friday afternoon! You can not run a business from the comfort of your arm chair! Then I suggest you do an audit of how many exit packages we are paying aggrieved staff because one of those overpaid suits made yet another mistake that cost us dearly!- 427 replies

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
flamboyant replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
The Councils balance the budget web page is http://youchoose.esd.org.uk/HerefordshireCouncil They want us to make the decision on where cuts should be made, they will make them where they please and claim it's what we wanted! Notice you haven't been invited to participate by post! So unless someone's trawling the Council website which I doubt you would never know it existed! Plus the simulator doesn't break down the service areas! I'm also confused about the inclusion of roads, wasn't that already budgeted for? No I was not trawling the Council Website, someone sent it to me! Lol- 427 replies

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
flamboyant replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Yes you're right Dippy but I was rather hoping that Cllr Rone, Cllr Kenyon or maybe even Cllr Johnson could confirm it and the reasoning behind it? Since the figures quoted would pay for a full time administrator in Children's social care. Who are particularly short staffed with at least 4 members of staff absent with stress due to staff shortages! Two of whom are on the verge of being admitted to hospital! When exactly are the Council going to get their house in order?- 427 replies

I would still like a response to my question Did Cllr Rone & Cllr Kenyon receive an increase in pay/ allowances for taking on these extra responsibilities and was an additional post created? I am trying to evaluate the Councils Austerity measures and I'm trying to establish if those measures extend to Councillors?- 427 replies

Well done Megilleland you don't miss a trick! The mighty Hoople have saved Herefordshire Council so much money they choose to hide it from Public Scrutiny! I hear Plough Lane staff have recently vacated the top floor of Plough Lane to make way for Hoople ! Council staff are hot desking around the remaining Council buildings, it would be funny if it weren't so tragic! Picture this scenario, I arrive at Plough Lane at 8:30 to commence work at 9:00 but all the desks are taken, so I gather up my belongings and race to the Nelson Building only to find that all the desks have gone! I then high tail it down the road to Franklin Barnes it's now 9:15 and I'm exhausted the sweat is pouring off me and I almost dropped my laptop twice! I'm now ensconced in the smallest office you've ever seen and it's like a bl.oody oven!! Dam!! I've left some confidential papers on someone's desk in Plough Lane so will need to go and collect them at lunch time but first I need to ring someone in the building and get them to go on a covert mission to find those papers!! It's now 9:45 and I'm struggling to log in to this bloody computer and my feet are killing me!! I'm getting paid to run around Council Office buildings I'm behind with my workload my stress levels are through the roof and I'm deeply concerned the vulnerable adults I'm supposed to be working to protect are at risk! And if one more person asks me if I'm using this desk all day I swear I will scream!! Yes Hoople are doing a wonderful job, but then so would I if I wasn't running around looking for a desk!!

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
flamboyant replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Welcome Hillbilly, my confusion stems from the toolkit the Council have produced (see below link) which clearly states that each of the localities officers are supported by Lead Officers from a Herefordshire Council. https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/media/2667926/engagement_toolkit.pdf Hi Dippy, I was clearly told by a Councillor that the plan is for calls to be directed straight to localities officers and cut out Customer Services. Perhaps one of the Councillors could confirm? It seems silly to ring the Council who then ring Balfour who then ring the Localities officer, or do they ring the Lead Officer who then starts the chain of calls? Also are we talking about two, three different reporting lines? You can either ring your Parish Councillor, or Customer Services or the Localities a Officer, or was that the Locality Lead, employed by Herefordshire Council? Is anyone else confused? No, read the toolkit you will be! Lol- 427 replies
