  1. I never know which sub title I should put a forum under so just randomly choose. Anyway with the new subscription charge for the Hereford Times can some well informed person tell me and anybody else who may well be interested that if you pay for the HT digitally do you have an actual HT to read on line (similar to the way Hereford Journal used to do it) or do you just have access to certain reports that are posted online by HT? Further more if you enter a shop and buy a copy of the HT I think I am correct in assuming you can only access a certain amount of reports on line Clarification required I took out a monthly on line HT sub but don't think I will keep it going if there is not a copy of the HT to flick through on line
  2. One good thing is that they mostly use British produce but it is sad that people cannot replicate a greasy burger with dubious fries or whatever takes their fancy at home!
  3. So many people have worked so hard during these times - it has been one of the good things that will be remembered. The innovation the effort and sheer determination to do good things by so many people is uplifting. Hope Hillside stays open now should never have been closed in the first place.
  4. Yes indeed it was some fire and thank God for the prompt actions of the fire service - it could have been really serious and with every thing so tinder dry very quick to take serious hold on neighbouring properties. Thankfully no one was hurt
  5. Noticeably less litter around during the lockdown but come next week when KFC and Macdonalds open the litter will reappear. Did I dream it or is their a move to print the reg no on the container so that it can be traced back when the driver chucks his litter!
  6. Excellent news the speed some drivers travel is frightening. Hope they spend some time in Kingstone!!!
  7. Poor little girl and the poor desperate family - so very sad for all concerned
  8. It is and it gives hope that people work so hard to bring on these youngsters and develop talents probably hidden. I have to admit I did not even know this place existed. Excellent work
  9. Excellent work well done the people behind this it is stunning. Hope farmers and supermarket/shop workers also had a mention. I am sure they are there amongst all the others mentioned who are working so hard to keep the country going in these times.
  10. Having said I am often appalled by the amount of advertising banners or whatever they are called that are adorning the big white house on the right hand side(as in entering Hereford) of the Tesco roundabout Belmont Road - A465. I do not know if they are still there have not sat opposite the house queuing to get into Hereford of late
  11. The Spring 2020 edition of the PLACE magazine is now available online https://2f27d1a1-5531-4b3e-b837-81de58e3b73a.filesusr.com/ugd/f03364_676bf77e888641a59a09a02590bfd24e.pdf
  12. Perhaps if and when we come through this horribly cruel time we can explore the possibilities of producing more of our own PPE - we must try in future to be more self supporting of essential goods
  13. Sorry mate but my common sense does prevail - farmers are essential and their continued good health is essential
  14. I contacted both Jesse Norman and Bill Wiggin regarding closing footpaths that run through farm land during this period. I had an acknowledgement from Wendy who I imagine is Jesse's PA Since then I have heard NOTHING from either Jesse and Bill. Disgraceful. Compare and contrast now and Election time. Have they both gone to ground or is Jesse using this time to write another book? People have long memories
  15. Let us hope the children are kept at home as much as possible and not roaming the streets
  16. Gareth Ratcliffe 1 hr Later on today there will be a Facebook group set up looking g for community volunteers to join to support the statuary services in the event of community help needed to respond the covid-19 outbreak. This page will help coordinate support for most vulnerable in our community. Please look out later for more information Thank you to the residents who have already contacted me offering support This is a post from Councillor Gareth Ratcliffe Powys CC it has a coloured chart which I am unable to copy over from Facebook but it is certainly a very good idea and perhaps one that Herefordshire Council could adopt
  17. At our Parish Council meeting a little while a go we had a presentation from Gemma Johnson who gave a presentation on Community Hubs which in theory is a good idea https://mycommunity.org.uk/resources/community-hubs/. Another one is the Smart Water set up by the Police but this is so expensive and has to be done as a parish/group and with the ever decreasing precept there have not been many able to do it. Communities do come together in times of need - look how so many volunteers worked tirelessly for the poor souls who were flooded. The problems seem to arise when individuals are in need and these are not necessarily being picked up by Social Services or at one time would have been the District Nurse. Many neighbours are afraid of being considered interferring or nosey. There are a lot of good young people however there are probably too many who roam.. I know not the answer to roaming youngsters. It is a real concern that so many social clubs of which many of the elderley consider a life line are being postponed because of Coronavirus and this is where somebody should be checking on those people but who? And of course through some of these clubs the older people were at least getting one good meal
  18. Golden Valley Action Group liked John Wilson @JohnWilsonNQ Apologies to anyone trying to visit the Hereford Times website. We have technical problems that we are working hard to fix. We'll be back online as soon as possible.
  19. Off here too - BBC Hereford and Worcester posted this on their Twitter this morning https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-51854911 If you all remember there was a member of HC staff arrested a couple of years ago well this is the case that relates to the arrest - well I am assuming it is. All a bit sordid really.
  20. It does seem to be all very dramatic but because there is not yet a vaccine for this it is causing a lot of concern. For all those that have not under lying health issues it probably is not a huge problem however those with long term illnesses have a suppressed immune system and this is where the real concern is. To look at it another way if it wiped out half the population the survivors would say why was this not taken seriously at the outset - so personally I think we should be aware of it and take as many precautions as possible. Do not really understand why people are panic buying - toilet rolls sold out in Tesco yesterday and soap of all kinds wiped off the shelves - oh well each to their own.
  21. A great pity we cannot sack HC in it's entirety and then re employ the ones worthy of their posts and basically start over again on salary scales that are in keeping with the rest of the county. Which reminds me where is the Chief Executive cannot think of his name?
  22. The cost the devastation this disaster will cause to so many companies shops and individuals does not bear thinking about. Hereford town was nearly on it's knees as it was what this will be do to it I do not know. I trust HC will set up a "Cobra" type committee to get Herefordshire back to some form of normality. It has to be a priority surely. Individuals and companies have to know where to get assistance be it finance or some muscle and HC has to be the first point of contact.
  23. ? your reply sorry do not understand!
  24. I bet the reported rats are running for their lives - watch out in the neighbourhood because they will set up home close by!
