Well judging by the comments on FB it is true. The bailiffs moved in this afternoon.

They are saying over on Facebook that The Matabeau Hereford has today shut up shop. Speculation is that they have gone bankrupt. This I find incredibly sad it was the one cafe that I would have a cup of coffee in(they served coffee in a cup and saucer!) and their food was always pretty good. Great shame. The Chadds staff used to congregate there in the morning prior to going to work - sad old times

That is fine Colin - you are the boss!

Well I apologise I will ask Colin to delete it. I cannot be bothered to get into an argument about whether it should be posted on here or not

9 Months Since Accident On Notorious Hereford Junction
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
In my gripe about the state of the roads I should have added that because the gulleys/ditches have not been cleared out since Adam was a lad every time there is a bit of rain there are huge puddles. So you drive through them because you have to and hit a pot hole. I know somebody who has gone through 6 tyres since October 2016! -
9 Months Since Accident On Notorious Hereford Junction
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
Driving around the bone shaking roads of the county as one does the whole of the county's roads are in a pretty bad state - pot holes faded white and yellow lines and so on. We have not yet had a great of rain but we no doubt will in the next couple of months that alongwith any frost will rip up the roads even more. A huge sum of money was poured into the pot hole fund last year and again this year. Where has it all gone? Off topic slightly I know -
Why not?

I agree with Irena last year I had a little winge about the local football clubs swearing. Houses back onto the playing field families out watching the football and people walking dogs hearing this kind of language on a lovely Saturday afternoon was not good. The upshot of my winge I was ridiculed and told playing football and swearing go hand in hand.

A week or so ago this appeared on a FB site then was quickly removed so I did not have a chance to post it on here. It will be interesting to hear what Cllr Price has to say on this - he was fairly confident about receiving funding. Just don't know who to believe any longer. A bit surprised by Bob Mathews letter in HT supporting A49 Hereford to Ross conversion to a dual carriageway. But there again he lives in Credenhill

Nope same message for me - that's it then until Tuesday/Wednesday

Oh well I do not know then. A family that want to do the right thing - keeping their elderly parents and disabled child close to home - something that should be encouraged. I hope HC and the Snead family can work something mutually suitable out. I am sure the Snead family would rather not to have this issue hitting the press in the first place. I also trust that the HC website will not be down for too long I always check to see who the ward councillor is when there is a shall we say a questionable PA being discussed. I see it is Cllr Guthrie
-
Yes then there was a PA in Bromsash for 10 houses that was refused on grounds that have been ignored for other PA's. Decisions on planning applications appear to be far too personal and are not consistently carried out throughout the county. If as has been suggested on another forum this is a ruse to get the family to reapply and pay over even more money then the Council should hang their heads in shame. This poor little family need all the assistance and money they can get not be ripped off by their local council.
-
Well if that is the reason why do the Planning Department not say so instead of using some very unfortunate phrases in their refusal. If that is the case why was this not brought up in the pre planning advice?

Planning Committee Approves Southern Link Road
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Planning
Copied from Facebook Hereford Visions shared Herefordshire Transport Alliance's photo. 19 mins · FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: A49 proposed to take traffic off M5 & M6? In the Council’s submission for funding for the Hereford Transport Package, it has been generously proposed that the “bypass will make the A49 an alternative for M4/M5 traffic to ease congestion on the motorway network.†In questions to the full council meeting last Friday, Carole Protherogh, the chair of HTA asked if the Council could provide statistics for the likely resulting increase in through traffic, both car and HGV, on the A49 between Ross on Wye and north of Leominster, and they would confirm that these figures will be widely available in public consultation on the bypass in the future?†Councillor Price replied “The A49 forms part of the strategic road network managed by Highways England, which is responsible for maintaining journey times for longer distance traffic. Modelling of the strategic road network to 2040 identifies increasing congestion on the M5/M6 corridor with only limited deterioration on the A49 corridor, most notably in the vicinity of Hereford city. This modelling information can be viewed at: https://www.gov.uk/…/attachment_…/file/387222/npsnnprint.pdf The large local majors bid submitted by the council referenced this information and noted that, with a bypass for Hereford, the A49 could have an enhanced role and provide an alternative for some traffic on the parallel M5/M6 which is forecast to become increasingly congested. As modelling work is progressed the scale of this will be established, and will be made available when it is completed and agreed with Highways England.“ The document Cllr Price refers to is National Policy Statement for National Networks 2008 This outlines the considerations needed in transport planning and has an illustrative map showing relative congestion. In the meeting Carole asked a supplementary question: “Cllr. Price is unable to provide even a guesstimate about the potential volume of induced traffic, on a road which otherwise is expected to show only a limited deterioration in respect of congestion. As a result of this 'under the radar' carrot for funding, can he comment on the likely results of this increase in through traffic, which will have no direct economic benefits for the county, and in terms of increased air pollution, road safety, highway maintenance, and general impact on communities along the whole length of the A49 through the county produce a degradation†Councillor Price was not prepared to answer in any detail but referred again to the National Policy Statement, and said all the issues will need to be explored and that it is “a very big question,“ but that much of the extra traffic will be coming to Herefordshire because of economic growth etc. In an interview after the meeting Carole Protherough, chair HTA said “ Cllr Price has agreed that the Council in its major bid is promising that the A49 would become a relief road for the motorway system, attracting additional traffic with destinations such as Wales and Bristol. Far from reducing through traffic this is likely to pour much more on to our road system, including increased freight traffic, with no benefit for the county. The village communities between Ludlow and Ross, many bisected by the A49 , will be severely affected . As we know the A49 already has a bad accident record. The Herefordshire public is totally oblivious to this almost hidden agenda, believing heavy traffic will be alleviated by a “bypass,†whereas in fact it will be increased. As Cllr Price has said, it is a "Big Question." One of course, he has yet to answer.“ -
Again!! Another terrorist attack in Germany

Shocking and sadly probably more to come - this world is in a very dodgy state -
I think Allpays business model was undermined when BT supported by the government and council money came in and took the jam ie the easy and lucrative work leaving Allpay to deal with the leftovers. Allpay led the field in inspirational delivery of Broadband in this county pity the Council did not build on it and recognise what a good idea it was. I am paying more now for my broadband since Allpay pulled out and as more houses new and old are connected in the area so the speed will decrease - so sooner rather than later I will be getting a poorer service - and they call that progress It is high time BT had some serious competition they should never have been allowed to have near monopoly on provision of Broadband but beware adverts are not always what they seem
-
In fairness to the staff I think they have to take unpaid leave for some of the days so some I am sure would prefer to work

Plans to Convert How Caple Grange to Boarding House
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Planning
Lucky pupils lodging in such glorious surroundings and yes very quick off the mark for both the Cathedral and Colin J -
Rather than start a new topic I will resurrect this one but felt I had to post a link to an article I read in the Telegraph yesterday. In fact I had to read it several times and keep checking the date of the paper. Did not Allpay do what the Conservatives in their wisdom think would be a wonderfully innovative solution to poor Broadband speeds in rural areas? And what exactly happened to Allpay's Broadband? https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiOm-Wv0P3QAhWEIsAKHdrdB2MQFggkMAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.telegraph.co.uk%2Fnews%2F2016%2F12%2F16%2Frural-families-poor-broadband-may-given-vouchers-spend-getting%2F&usg=AFQjCNHbCVByjFxi-eR2Pswp4DMNoih--A&sig2=UWJX9sqDndPMQIZNYru3aA Admittedly this may not be of any interest to the city dwellers of HV but I think there are readers on here from shall we say the more rural areas of the county and indeed the country. Of course there is another consideration just how much of our money has BT Fastershire cost already and still it is not performing.
