Graham Powell has resigned from the Cabinet!
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
I don't know TWG left his position is different to being suspended and why add it to the report of Graham Powell's sacking from Cabinet? Perhaps one of HC people who read and indeed contribute to HV would like to confirm deny comment!- 76 replies

This has now been reported in the hard copy of the HT with a few more comments from Tony Johnson and David Harlow. The last two sentences in the report will cause a few eyebrows to be raised and I wonder at the significance of the comment. I will quote word for word what it says so that there is no misunderstanding - Quote begins "Meanwhile the Hereford Times understands a senior council officer has left his position with Herefordshire Council. However, the local authority had not responded to an enquiry from this newspaper regarding the situation at the time of going to press." End of quote Strange comment to tack onto this report. Does anybody know who the Senior Officer in question is?- 76 replies

I think Steve W is allowed to nominate a replacement speaker well I think he is anyway. My money is on David Harlow being selected as a replacement speaker. If not this really puts the pressure on Jon Johnson to do the right thing by his residents. I was thinking about the traffic last night following Ragwert's comments about Belmont Road. Traffic is like water it will always find a way out. If the traffic is bunged up on the A49 drivers will either stay on A465 or skip across at Walnut Tree Avenue. I rarely see HGV's travel to the Asda roundabout down the A465 to go to Rotherwas. Don't forget there is a height restriction at Pontrilas on HGV's so this prevents quite a few HGV's using this route from Wales. More use the A49 route where there is already a route to Rotherwas. One of my concerns is the amount of traffic the Clehonger will displace onto the Clehonger/Madley/Bridge Sollars leading into the Roman Road/Kings Acre route.

No they are very tight on time with the speakers and in a way I can understand that. My Ward Councillor Jon Johnson will be speaking alongwith Steve Williams both of which are Cons be very interesting how they decide to voice an opinion!! Follow the party or follow your people!! I hope the objectors have pulled some really excellent speakers out of the hat. With each speaker allowed only a very short time to speak they have to be clear concise and able to speak in public without getting flustered - literally every second counts I am not disagreeing with you Dippy posted this the same as you posted yours - great minds and all that

Glenda now that it appears the Auditors have done their report and it has been received by HC (hence the actions of last week) HT can publish their report - we await the HC vetted report with baited breath.- 76 replies

You have to hand it to the HT they knock early on Friday and then when they come back on Monday or Tuesday depending on whether it is a Bank Holiday they trawl through FB and HV and get the hint of a story and then report on it. Bring back Bill Tanner I say.

Graham Powell has resigned from the Cabinet!
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/14524669.Councillor_dropped_from_Herefordshire_Council_s_cabinet/?ref=mr&lp=5 There is immediately a huge question mark over this - Johnson is saying GP resigned the article is saying GP was shuffled out and replaced. One is telling the truth the other is nothing more and nothing less than a bare faced liar - which one? GP had done remarkable work on the Fastershire and many other projects there was no reason to sack him so why? And to be replaced by a relative newbie who would not really know the ways of HC - a whole lot more to this than meets the eye I think. Is somebody going to spill the beans or do we really have to keep on speculating?- 76 replies

Hereford Link Road
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
With Mr Robinson having been suspended for what reason we can only guess at but it must be something pretty awful and related to the mis accounting on the Link Road. Whether this was through human error or wilfully carried out remains to be seen. Either way it will have enormous consequences and bring under the spotlight other figures that he has worked on. The enormity of this situation does not really bear thinking about and I question whether decisions as county changing as the SLR and indeed the sale of the Council Farms should be made by a Council who are in danger of losing credibility. -
Graham Powell has resigned from the Cabinet!
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
To summarise what we the public know officially and what has happened in a week of HC Peter Robinson suspended following closer inspection of figures submitted regarding the Inner Link Road Graham Powell resigns from the Cabinet but will remain a Councillor David Harlow a Con is selected to fill the gap in the Cabinet Jess submits 2 letters of objection to the SLR - a Con MP against the thinkings of a Con Council not very encouraging All coincidence or is there trouble brewing in the camp -- 76 replies

There is a road on Graham Powell's patch called The Slough it runs as you travel through Vowchurch/Turnastone up to Michaelchurch Escley and goes uphill for a couple of miles. Now if you want to see a rough bit of road that probably would take a near top prize. Quite surprising Graham P usually manages to get his roads fairly well maintained - oh well. Oh that £35m how much more wisely it could have been spent

I think I am correct in assuming this is the relevant PA - nice to see they source locally for their professional services! Got it now all 216 pages of it yes not surprised. Despite my own personal feelings I have to salute the Planning Officer Kelly Gibbons she must have lived slept eaten the SLR for the last however many years and much toil and effort has been put into producing it with quite considerable opposition. I think it was always going to be a done job. https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/documents?id=08356e2a-23e4-11e6-96d8-0050569f00ad
