  1. Fortunately farmers are very resillient they have had to be Lamb prices are not good but this year could bounce back judging by the cost of breeding ewes farmers still have faith in the sheep industry. Potatoes well they are not good people preferring no prep option - pasta cous cous rice - even runnner beans can you believe it are going out of fashion preferring French Beans less prepping. Some SFS payments may have been delayed but the form is fairly complex but certainly not all payments were delayed. Anyway this is off topic and people have got to eat and my preference is for food produced in this country so farming may change but will not go out of fashion,
  2. The petition has now reached 100231 signatures. Fantastic response in just over a week. Thank you everybody who has signed this and for those who are promoting it. Please keep making people aware of it and signing it. Thank you.
  3. TWG it is not only a case of not wanting to rock the boat some of them are afraid to speak out and appear to be going against the flow. Off topic but still a little relevant whilst she is a Con there is a young lady Councillor (I think the Llangarron ward) called Elissa Swinglehurst who appears to be doing the right thing. She is on the Planning Committee and produces a monthly newsletter which is no nonsense and factual. She is very knowledgeable and comes over as a very likeable person I hope and trust the hardened Councillors do not try and shut her up. Definitely a person who has every intention of going far and I wish her good luck.
  4. Apparently parking bays have been painted outside the shop causing pedestrians to walk in the road to get around the parked vehicles. A violation already perhaps?
  5. The Central Government Funding is to go down this year but the following years will start to rise so it is only for one year that things will be a little tight.
  6. Meggilleland unbelievable amount of money for a year. Thirty eight million I had to read it several times and I am speechless!

  8. From a very reliable source I have known Ann for years Ann Anderson Received a phone call from BT, informing me that he was disconnecting me because of an unpaid bill.. He demanded payment immediately of £31.00 or it would be £ 118.00 to re-connect at a later date. The guy wasn't even fazed when I told him I was with Virgin Media, allegedly VM have to pay BT a percentage for line rental! I asked the guy's name - he gave me the very 'English' John Peacock with a very 'African' accent - & phone number -0800 0800 152. Obviously the fellow realized I didn't believe his story, so offered to demonstrate that he was from BT. I asked how & he told me to hang up & try phoning someone - he would disconnect my phone to prevent this. AND HE DID !! My phone was dead - no engaged tone, nothing - until he phoned me again. Very pleased with himself, he asked if that was enough proof that he was with BT. I asked how the payment was to be made & he said credit card, there & then. I said that I didn't know how he'd done it, but I had absolutely no intention of paying him, I didn't believe his name or that he worked for BT. He hung up. I dialed 1471 -number withheld I phoned his fictitious 0800 number - not recognized. So I phoned the police to let them know. I wasn't the first! It's only just started apparently, but it is escalating. Their advice was to let as many people as possible know of this scam. The fact that the phone does go off would probably convince some people it's real, so please make as many friends & family aware of this. How is it done? This is good but not that clever. He gave the wrong number - it should have been 0800 800 152 which takes you through to BT Business. The cutting off of the line is very simple, he stays on the line with the mute button on and you can't dial out - but he can hear you trying. (This is because the person who initiates a call is the one to terminate it). When you stop trying he cuts off and immediately calls back. You could almost be convinced! The sad thing is that it is so simple that it will certainly fool many. By the way this is not about getting the cash as this would not get past merchant services - it is all about getting the credit card details which include the security number, to be used for larger purchases. Please Copy And Paste This the second scam I have heard about in a week. The other was also a local lady who I have also known for years but the man phoning said he was from her electric provider and she asked for a number and it turned out to be the emergency gas phone line. Both these ladies very fortunately realised these phone calls were dodgy but it is a real concern that because these guys are so convincing it would be very easy for anybody to be sucked in. My golden rule nowadays never ever give your bank details over the phone whatever the circumstances.
  9. Well desparate individuals keep selling the family silver until there is nowt left and then declare themselves bankrupt!

  11. Slim whether they get paid a pittance they are still paid to do a job. I was paid minimum pay to do a job and was expected to put in as much effort as the Managers. Of course people in HC are looking for alternative employment it is a sinking ship (and I have worked for some of those as well) but is easier to find employment if you are in a job I know!
  12. Keep going at Environmental Health until they respond they get paid to do a job make them do it
  13. Since posting this on 23rd December there have been just over 4000 more signatures nationwide so with the help of Hereford Voice and other social media the target of 100000 signatures may well be reached. Please keep spreading the word.
  14. The hint is in one of my comments. Originally Allpay were to pick up the broadband that BT could not reach in the more rural areas but word is that Allpay and HC have had a fall out which is a great shame. However I think Allpay supply the wifi arrangements in town well they did anyway.
  15. The host company Allpay are a fantastic provider of exceptionally fast and efficient broadband and also a LOCAL company starting from very small premises. Sadly they are withdrawing from the broadband business what a shame HC did not work with them preferring to use BT. Allpay are already removing their equipment from areas and I alongwith many others dread the day they do the same In Kingstone. I am hearing nightmare tales of alternative providers and BT are not coming out in a very good light.
  16. Ragwert I stand corrected. It is not only the flood plains surface water anywhere causes a lot of flooding. Nothing to the extent that they are having in the North and North Wales I will grant you but it can cause quite substantial damage. Developers and planners should listen to the locals when they say the area floods. For every field that is built on the surface water has to go somewhere else and so on and so on In the comment of mine above I tried to copy a photograph I saw on FB which says it all and I thought I had deleted it all but sadly no oh well not a good day at the office.

  18. The rivers are not dredged nowadays in an attempt to save money. False economy and with many more houses being built everywhere the flooding issue will worsen everywhere
