There was certainly a lot of love shown to Freedom Church from Bretherton and his chums News - City regeneration to promote centre of freedom for ... newsroom.herefordshire.gov.uk/.../city-regeneration-to-promote-centre-... 15 Nov 2010 - City regeneration to promote centre of freedom for young people ... is to be retained as part of a new urban village planned for the centre of Hereford. Hereford Futures, the company set up by Herefordshire Don't confuse their handing out of lollipops etc with the Street Pastors. As I understand it the Street Pastors are organised by Venturer or something similar. On a completely different note what on earth happened to those 800 homes that were to be built they certainly would have eased the housing crisis in Hereford. Why are people not jumping up and down about these?

Of course he is aware of Hereford Voice he was on the verge of suing them at the time of the election

Thankfully they have come to their senses posted on Facebook Hereford Table We really appreciate the comments that people have made on social media and the Hereford Times website, about our effigy pole. At no point did we wish to offend anyone, that was never the intention; all we wished to do was raise the profile and encourage people to come to our Fireworks display at the race course this Saturday evening, allowing us to raise funds to distribute to local charities and good causes. We have listened to people's comments and we greatly appreciate the time they have taken to contact us and let us know their feelings. "We are therefore NOT going ahead with the competition," commented Luke Conod. "I would like to thank people again for their comments and for taking the time to contact us and hope to see lots of people at the race course this Saturday, helping us raise funds for our local charities and good causes and having a great time. Over the last 12 months thanks to the help of people in Herefordshire we were able to help local charities and good causes to the tune of over £30,000," Luke continued to say. Like · Reply · 1 · 1 hr

Well here we go then BBC Hereford & Worcester added 4 new photos. 9 mins · We had a huge response to yesterdays post about sign cleaning in Herefordshire by Hereford Voice campaigner Colin James. We've finally had a statement from the Herefordshire Council contractors who're responsible for their maintenance .......... it says .....Balfour Beatty carries out regular highway inspections across Herefordshire. As part of the programme of activities undertaken, as agreed with the council, Balfour Beatty reactively responds to any case whereby a road sign is obscured or poses a health and safety risk. Balfour Beatty Locality Stewards monitor the quality of the road signs in their local area when conducting their regular inspections. Attention is paid to cleanliness, reflectivity, correct positioning and visibility of road signs. Locality Stewards will clean and provide initial and routine maintenance if signs are loose, twisted or incorrectly positioned, paying particular attention to those signs placed at accident cluster zones. The safety of the public and our workforce is our primary concern and we ask that any member of the public voluntarily cleaning road signs does so while taking the appropriate health and safety precautions.

Pity Morrisons didn't keep some of those parsnips back yesterday - only three loose parsnips for sale when I was in there yesterday then there was 1!

Colin James the international jet setting Radio Star - BBC Hereford & Worcester added 4 new photos. 24 mins · Edited · Hereford Voice - a city campaign group - has been out and about on the A465 cleaning up the road signs. Member Colin James says it took him just 20 minutes to make the signs visible to drivers again. We've asked council contractors Balfour Beatty is it's their responsibility? Meanwhile Colin is encouraging people to clean the nearest signs to where they live as it would be a massive improvement, especially in the countryside. Villagers in Little Birch & Much Birch have already acted on his advise and say it's quick and easy to do and makes a real difference.

Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
Denise Lloyd replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Copied from one of Bill Tanner's HT reports dtd 15.7.15 when HT reporting was worth the paper it was written on "In May this year, HWFRS said it was no longer interested in the Bath Street site. An independent valuation has established a market value for the entire site upon which open market disposal can be based. The council says this valuation stays “commercially confidential†so as not to compromise potential offers. Already the site is starting to deteriorate due to lack of use, so early exposure to the market is recommended as security costs escalate. The current annual cost of keeping the site is around £100,000. This will create further pressure this year as the council’s insurers have insisted that the site is boarded up at an estimated cost of £80,000. It is proposed that the site is marketed through a commercial agent procured through the council’s financial procedure rules. The marketing costs, determined by competitive tender, will be recovered from the capital sale - indicatively they are 1-2 per cent of the sale price. Any capital receipt will depend upon the intended end use by the purchaser. The council sees the site as lending itself to a variety of uses, with any indicative value being difficult to estimate. As an example, if the site was to be purchased for housing the council expects the gross receipt would be more than £1 million." At this rate HC will soon whistle through the estimated sales value before even selling it - good bit of business HC well done -
Well done Morrisons for making a move on food waste

Brrrrrrrrrrr it looks so cold and almost wintry after today's sun

Apologies Colin my comment was not aimed at you in particular and I did not realise that you are an international jet setter! People put themselves up to become a Parish Councillor because they care about where they live. They do it for free. Meetings are held once every 6 weeks or more or less and the respective Ward Councillor should be in attendance. If a member of the public has an issue with their parish there is a 10 minute time slot at the beginning of each meeting when these issues can be aired. It will also be minuted that this problem has been raised. It will then be down to the PC's and Ward Councillor to address this issue and ultimately the Ward Councillor will be responsible for a satisfactory outcome. You know they stood to become Ward Councillors now lets get them working for the good of the county! And well done again Colin for your work today it does make a difference.

Well done Colin. Lovely day today better the day better the deed. The filthy road signs give such a bad impression of the county to any visitor. This issue should be routed through your local parish council and then they should contact the person responsible at Balfour's. The PC know the route and should be reporting the issues anyway as we do in Kingstone. We have a Balfour man (can't think of his position) attend the majority of the PC meetings. So basically sort your PC out try attending the meetings.

Chris C all done on Facebook. Yes please an full investigation in the care system is very long overdue. As Bill Thomas has also added there are a lot of cases of people and families working the system fairly well and they should also be fully investigated. Cars huge expensive televisions unnecessary calls when the family members are sat in the house perfectly capable of putting a meal in the microwave oh yes it all goes on in some homes.
-
Would you mind if I posted this on a forum on Facebook I think the people on there would have a few comments to make! Perhaps people would prefer to reply privately could you include your email address please. The whole care industry requires a major overhaul some of the things I have seen going on shocking.

Herefordshire Green PartyLike Page 3 hrs · Edited · Yay, another bloody nose for the tories, locally this time, and hopefully not the last. COUNCIL LEADERS SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT Herefordshire’s Conservative administration suffered its first defeat since taking power in May when councillors voted to save the county’s smallholding estate, writes Green county councillor JENNY BARTLETT (Leominster East). Hotfoot from attending the county council’s General Overview and Scrutiny Committee Jenny pictured) reports: “The long awaited report into the county's smallholdings estate was finally completed and presented for submission to the executive. Reflecting the split in consensus, the cross party task and finish group (of which I am a member) unusually presented two options - To retain the estate and secure its viability through a structured partial sale to provide viable starter and progression farms. Or: Sell the whole estate to pay for debt relief....thus paving the way to borrow more to pay for new infrastructure like roads? After a strongly argued debate the full committee voted to recommend keeping the county's smallholding estate. The vote came down to the wire and was carried by the chairman’s deciding vote. This was a small victory for the combined opposition against the city-centric, outdated growth agenda of the current administration and their short-sighted response to the challenges of austerity. Yes we need homes, jobs and infrastructure but they must benefit all of Herefordshire. Let us not throw out all that is good and unique in our beautiful county. This is the first time so far in this administration that the 'vote' has gone against the conservatives and cabinet's wishes. It remains to be seen how they tackle the thorny issue of going against Overview and Scrutiny's recommendation should they go ahead and sell off the smallholding estate anyway.†– Councillor Jenny Bartlett. Footnote: the county’s tenanted smallholdings are valued as a means of enabling new entrants to gain a foothold on the farming ladder (PB) Hereford Visions shared Herefordshire Green Party'sphoto. 2 hrs · Yay, another bloody nose for the tories, locally this time, and hopefully not the last. Has somebody acquired the Working Boys Home now? Who is the contractor responsible for the boarding up? -
Nice little letter has been posted on the PA website from Historic England. Sadly the letter is not dated and has not been date stamped by HC upon receipt. How on earth a satisfactory Audit Trail can be conducted when incoming mail is not date stamped remains a mystery to me. It used to be a disciplinary matter when I worked in admin obviously the same standards are no longer adhered to. In the GV Wye a glossy little magazine delivered free in the Golden Valley area. Councillor Graham Powell writes a short piece. A paragraph caught my eye and I quote "Once the Core Strategy has been adopted we can be confident that we will have regained control to prevent speculative development, communities will approve their own neighbourhood plans to describe change in their local area and put them in control of that change." And that is straight from the horse's mouth and word for word. Now I wonder will those few words come back and haunt anybody time will tell.

Chris I understand your dilema. There are many youngsters desperate to get into farming and nowadays I understood that these council farms were for that purpose. The problem as I see it the Council will sell off these farms causing terrible desparation to the tenants. They will be back to square one and probably have to start looking for alternative employment. The larger farmers will buy them up and there will no small farms available for people who want to go into farming. This vast amount of money will just disappear into the black hole of Herefordshire Council and will not be used for what it should be used for. The question is Chris do you want to see houses or land being farmed for production for food. This country is only 64% food self suffienct which is frightening really.

As I said tat attracts tat

Instead of looking at the ground space look at the buildings they are stunning and should be enhanced. Tatty shops buskers flame throwers how lacking class is that? No wonder some Herefordians have such a low opinion of High Town it should be made to look as inviting as say Phillip Morris/Elts/Saracen/Left Bank. Tat encourages tat. Let the ones who want run of the mill shops go to new centre and lets have a bit of class in High Town. Snob no just wanting to see something that once beautiful restored to it's former glory. The biggest stumbling blocks are the rates and rent how they can justify charging that I do not know.

BBC Hereford & Worcester 1 hr · Herefordshire Council is considering selling off its' 5 thousand acres of farmland. It could raise 48 million pounds - as massive chunk of the 60 million pounds the authority needs to save in the next 3 years. The land is a huge asset though and has risen in value every year for the last decade. At a meeting this afternoon the council's Scrutiny Committee will recommended either a partial sale will some starter and progression farms kept on OR the sale of the entire estate. The sale will leave 51 families without their homes and businesses. Ian and Lorraine Salmon farm 66 acres near Leominster - they've just had their first child Isobel and face an uncertain future..................... Does anybody know the outcome of this meeting?
