Sadly this country is propped up now by charities. Probably more now than ever. Some of the charities are absolutely excellent giving what should be in a civilised country automatically offered by the government - Hospice - support of disabled young people and their families - support of injured serviceman - Air Ambulance and so on. As has been clearly demonstrated their are questionable charities with hidden agendas which is a shame and muddies the water for well meaning honest charities. Roger stop and think what would this country be like without these good charities? I personally cannot imagine

Herefords Skills Club for kids with Autism may have to close due to lack of funding! They will be holding a table top sale in December and are hoping for any kind of fund raising ideas or offers! The Dutch branch of the Church of Scientology has lost its tax status as “public welfare institutionâ€, and the tax benefits that go along with it, in a ruling made by the court in The Hague on Wednesday. The court decided that the sales of the Church’s expensive courses and therapy sessions are clearly aimed at making a profit, and thus it does not belong on the tax authorities’ charity list. Scientologists believe that there are two major divisions of the mind – the reactive mind and the analytical mind, according to Wikipedia. The reactive mind stores painful and debilitating images, “engramsâ€, that move people further away from their true identity. The Church promises believers that they can get rid of these engrams with special techniques and eventually achieve a “clear†state – a sort of super human with a clear mind. The Church offers courses and therapy sessions to work towards this “clear†state, and these quickly cost thousands of euros. The court ruled that these courses cost significantly more than commercial educational institutions’ average school fees. “If providers on the secular education market had similar prices, prospective students would experience it as prices for top education by top teachers in prime locations.†The court finds the prices to be very commercial. According to the court, Scientology consciously seeks profits to fill its purse and was able to build “substantial wealth†like this. The Church can still appeal against this ruling, but it is not yet clear if they will. A spokesperson called the judge’s ruling “discrimination based on religious beliefsâ€. This ruling puts a provisional end to a long ongoing process that started in the Amsterdam Court two years ago, according to newspaper Trouw. Back then the court ruled that the Church of Scientology does not have a commercial character because it gave courses and therapy sessions to poor Scientologists as gifts. Now I don't know the answer to this otherwise I would not be asking. It has occurred to me farmers get subsidies we all know whether you agree with it or not is not the point and I strongly suspect that owners of woodlands do also. How Church By-Laws Protect Pimp Preachers From Being Sued Pimppreacher.com Commentary Has anyone ever wondered how pimp preachers and abusive churches protect themselves from being sued for misusing the offerings? One of the best methods abusive churches use to shield themselves from lawsuits concerning pastoral or organization misuse of funds is found in their by-laws. This excerpt from Christian Fellowship Church Ministries International’s 2001 by-laws is an example of how church by-laws are used to prevent a church from being sued. (Disclaimer: the actual church by-laws may have been updated since then, but for illustration purposes the excerpt is used.) Church Members Rendered Powerless The first two paragraphs are fairly common remarks made by churches concerning the role of believers in supporting the local congregation. A good number of churches even make statements like the one in the second paragraph. What is really troubling is the remark in the third paragraph. This statement says that once the money passes from the parishioner’s hand to the offering plate, the parishioner has absolutely no say in where that offering goes or how it is to be used. That’s right - no say! Zero! Nada! The offering money can be used for anything the church wants, and specifically the pastor if he or she has access to church funds. If a parishioner realizes the money is misused, there is little that can be legally done. By-laws like this often hold up in court, and the financial loss is not recouped. (C.M. If the preacher gives persuasive enough messages, the number of people will grow, as will the pastor’s bank account and lifestyle. What Can Be Done? Going to court is a drastic last resort. Even if the parishioners win the case, the legal fees and court costs deplete what could have been a well-deserved compensation settlement. There are ways parishioners can protect themselves. 1) When visiting a church and considering membership, ask for a copy of the by-laws to review. If the church is reluctant or unwilling to grant the request, chances are they have something to hide. 2) When filling out an offering envelope, mark specifically where the offering is to go. Often church members don’t do this; the offering then goes into a “general offering†which could be used any way the church or pastor wishes. 3) Request the annual financial statement. If the pastor’s income is absent or there is a section marked “miscellaneous expenses,†questions should be raised. If no honest answer is given, stop supporting that church. 4) Confront the pastor directly and let him or her know there are legitimate concerns about where the offering goes. 5) Social media is a good means to spread the word and warn others. 6) As a last resort, seek legal action if sufficient evidence exists to file a claim. Ragwert if like me you had witnessed the indiscriminate slaughter that foxes are capable of you would call them a lot worse than vermin. I have seen slaughtered young lambs chickens geese and ducks. As for the last time I saw a fox I saw a dead one back in the summer. Foxes leave a scent and quite often around the village I have smelt where a fox has been.

Here for Hereford has been trying to find out for over a week now, what the final Local Plan documents for adoption at the Extraordinary Council meeting on Friday 16thOct 2015 actually are. We have had no clear response and on Friday 16th Oct we found out why – no one really knows what documents are to be sent to the Secretary of State as the Local Plan for Herefordshire 2011-31. The newly appointed Monitoring Officer had to admit she didn’t know which Appendices of the Local Plan were being adopted when asked, but she told the full Council Meeting that she had been assured that they were on the Herefordshire Council website, somewhere! So much for Herefordshire Council’s Constitution requiring documents to be available for 5 days before a meeting. This rule is there for a good reason – so that Councillors can make a sound decision with a full understanding of what they are actually agreeing to. The meeting deteriorated further into utter confusion to the point where it had to be adjourned as no one had apparently received the formal Cabinet recommendation from the Cabinet meeting the day before. The Council agenda showed that the full Council was being asked to “consider the recommendations from the Cabinet meeting held on 15th Octoberâ€. With no Cabinet recommendation published or circulated there was technically nothing for Councillors to actually vote on. A typed notice of the Cabinet recommendation was subsequently circulated in the break on bits of paper. The recommendation as written made little sense to anyone in the public gallery or the press. I am sure we will find out what was actually agreed when the Council have typed up the minutes. We hope that Herefordshire Council will undertake training to ensure that Council meetings are organised and conducted in accordance with their own Constitution and that documents and recommendations to be voted on are published in accordance with meeting rules. It would seem that Council officers also need to have training on what is actually contained in their own Constitution. On notice of the Extraordinary Council meeting refusing public questions Here for Hereford had already challenged the Council’s decision to forbid public questions being asked. Public questions are clearly permitted in the Council’s Constitution and are an important way for residents to highlight matters of concern to elected members. Things were further confused when it became apparent to Here for Hereford that additional “minor†modifications had been added to the papers for adoption that had not formed part of the public consultation on the Local Plan that took place earlier in 2015. The reputation of the County is being brought into disrepute by the debacle that was observed at the meeting on 16th October 2015. It leaves many people wondering if this administration should be allowed to manage huge sums of public money and make important decisions that profoundly affect the lives of all residents living in Herefordshire when such an important meeting is conducted in the manner observed yesterday. A lot of the problem is there are a lot of new councillors who have not the working knowledge and confidence of some the more long serving councillors and it is quite natural to follow their lead. But now the Core Strategy is as predicted a working paper. Having read the follow this morning The House of Commons library has found that some families could lose up to £3,000 a year if the tax credit cuts are not reversed. Expert analysis for the Observer shows that in a two-child family with two parents working full-time, both parents would need to earn £9.55 an hour in 2016 to reach the same standard of living they would have had when earning the minimum wage of £6.50 in April 2015. I would urge any first time buyers receiving Tax Credits contemplating buying their first home to think very carefully before taking the plunge. I know I've been there it is a dream for a lot of people to buy their own home but before you take the plunge do your maths over and over again. Will your employer up your pay to compensate for the loss of Tax Credits. With the amount of houses being built if you can possibly wait people who are struggling at the moment as Glenda has said will have to sell and it may well become a buyers market in a couple of years - I may be wrong. Not many people will remember what happened in Bristol I do not know what exactly caused it but many people were left with negative equity and unable to sell their much loved homes. Until private landlords are bought to order the housing market will remain skewed.

Glenda and Maggie May precisely the point I am making. There are not the people in this county financially equipped to purchase a home. There are plenty of people financially equipped to rent. There is a huge danger now that the Core Strategy has been passed that there will be loads of houses built in the county but not the houses that are needed and probably not in the right places. So the problem of people waiting on the housing register will remain and probably only get longer. Now that the rule of 33% houses per new development of over 10 houses has been lifted this will only get worse. There are many many young singles wanting to get on the housing ladder. The Council and developers need to demonstrate imagination and be innovative and build what is wanted. Look how the flats at Bobblestock proved so popular all those years ago. Crest homes first offering very nice 1 or 2 bedroomed flats and then the cheaper but still nice studio homes opposite the supermarket. I could not get a mortgage for the Crest homes flat that my sister was selling (my mortgage broker told me to go and find a rich man) but bought one opposite the supermarket. It served the purpose and got me on the housing ladder. Developers need to look to build blocks of affordable flats and properties on top of shops so the youngsters can be where they want to be in town! But sadly there is not the income from blocks of flats and individual flats on top of shops that the council is so desperate for and the large developers just aint interested. So it will need some very strong minded Councillors to stand up and say how it really is. There is also a desperate need for sensibly priced one or 2 bedroomed bungalows but once again developers nor the Councill are particulariiy interested in providing these preferring to build life time houses

Predictable voting pattern which will probably be replicated at the SLR Planning Meeting. Are all the Con Councillors representing the views of the electorate or are they so terrified to step out of line. The newbies especially would feel that they have to go with the flow for a little while at least. It is a truly absurd system when you think about it. The staff at the Council are paid a fortune and trained for years to do their job - whether we agree with them is another matter. They make their recommendations based on knowledge and fact. Then you have the Councillors voted in not always for their knowledge but their personalities. They will never match the qualificationsand working knowledge of the employed Council staff and yet they are the ones that make the decisions that affect the lives of people forever. Put to the vote of the people of Herefordshire how many actually want to see 1000 houses a year built for the next 16 years. I know there is a need for housing but a need for so many I do question. 1000 houses a year that would mean that there are at least 1000 people in Herefordshire presently on the housing list who are equipped to afford a house. Perhaps I am looking at this in the wrong way does anybody else have thoughts on this?
