From what I have heard this has been a huge rip off. No doubt the Council will get a nice bung for hosting it. What a missed opportunity for local producers of cider and sausages. Both of which this county is renowned for. Local produce could and should have been showcased. Who was it that said we are in it together - pah what a load of tosh.

This is interesting no response no offers to coordinate or arrrange a collection point perhaps one of the supermarkets will step up to the mark. Post election would be councillors would be falling over themselves to sort something out.

Many of people who view or post on Hereford Voice will know of people who have spent time in Bromyard Hospital convalescing. Sadly this is being threatened with closure. I am quite sure it will be a must have and well timed for the Christmas present wish list. Did anybody watch the Scientology and Jehovah Witness programme last night? I always thought Jehovahs were a bit deep but ok. Just goes to show you only need one or two bad un's for things to go all wrong. Even Fc can't be likened to Scientology. If the lady is to be believed they are something else and Tom Cruise is such a nice man just goes to show.

Ubique I think they are probably checking drainage and composition of the soil. I think they dig a length and see how long it takes for water to drain away. I've been trying to think of word and it is porousity. They have done much the same on the fields involved in the SLR.

I wonder if this is all going to quietly disappear or whether it is going to end up with an investigation. I can't see that it will go quietly away now that vast sums of money are evidently coming in from the USA. Whichever way you look at it is indeed an unholy mess. Once again are the Council partly to blame for a lot of it?

My home village - you also have 2 churches very close together. This came about because 2 sisters had a little fall out and the one said I vow to build a church before you can turn a stone. Hence Vowchurch and Turnastone.

I have a hypothetical question for anybody who is able to answer it. Should Herefordshire Council award a healthcare/social care package to Freedom Church. Do employees and Councillors have to declare any membership or interest in Freedom Church? Or is it like the Masons a non-declarable interest?

Cambo they may have changed the name. Were they Freedom Church Hereford on their previous registration as a charity? Or perhaps they have increased their scope for good works.

What is it about FC an article in the local rag and 5 or 6 hours later it has raised so much public interest. Are we envious of their ability to make zillions/their ability to con people/are we are afraid of our own vulnerability/or are we just fascinated by them and secretly despise them for their success. Perhaps they are like marmite. Channel 5 Monday night I think Scientology and Jehovahs Witness that might answer a few questions or pose some more.

Clarkester who gifted the old Plumb Centre to FC? As I was writing I think I remembered was it HC as "hush money" because they were being squeezed out by the OLM. Pete Boggs I thought some of the Councillors figured very prominently in the FC family tree already. Some very interesting comments being made on the Facebook Hereford Times page and it looks like the Welsh have FC's number judging by comments on the HT page I hope the day doesn't come when HC wished they had followed their example. I wonder what it is about FC that sparks so much interest.

So much charity work is carried out throughout the country and indeed the world. Many of these are religious based charities start off as being religious based but then something happens and some of the good charities become greedy and not for the right reasons. The leaders see the bright lights and think I wouldn't mind some of that and so money raising spirals out of control but not for the givng back to society but to give the bosses a standard of living a lot of people can only dream of. I think the contributors on this forum who are suspicious of religious charities can be forgiven for not grasping that Venture is a good one - it is all very confusing. The Diocese of Hereford is advertising for the appintment of a Childrens and Young Adults Safeguarding Adviser. As Greenknight asks it is a wonder where our Council Tax does go when so much of the good work done is carried out by charities. Let us hope that those employed by the Council on very handsome salaries are earning every penny of their renumeration by controlling all these different sectors of care for Children and Young Adults. Let us hope that no scandal comes to light in years to come where religious people have abused their positions.

Mind you FC seem to be able to gather so many volunteers up perhaps they could set about litter and rubbish picking - there is enough of them around they will soon be running the show anyway.

I expect FC are kicking themselves that they haven't got in on this one. There is no denying that both FC and Vennture do do admirable work, But the shame of it all is that they have to mix religion in with it all and then make their particular charity a money making exercise. Once a charity starts to make money it no longer is a charity it becomes a company and taxes become owing. I assume that HC are funding Herefordshire Families First Am I happy paying my council tax to fund a religious charity I don't think I am comfortable with it. Charitable giving should be a personal choice and I know which ones I would happily donate to. There is a time and place for religion and this kind of charity work is not that place. Now that Bill Tanner has left the HT we will longer have the incisive reporting that we have become accustomed to. Hereford Voice will have to fill the gap and to publish this shocking report on lost or stolen personal information within the Council. What is being done about this and who is responsible for sorting this out. God knows there are people in HC who are certainly paid enough to sort it out. Perhaps HT will pick the story up from these pages and do a little further investigation.

Losses continue in chief executive Leo Quinn’s first set of results Balfour Beatty has slumped to a £150m half-year pre-tax loss, in chief executive Leo Quinn’s first set of results as boss of the troubled contracting giant. The £150m pre-tax loss for the first half of 2015 compared to a £58m pre-tax loss for the same period last year. Over 2014 as a whole Balfour made a £304m pre-tax loss. Balfour’s UK construction services business made a £145m operating loss in the first half of 2015, compared to a £59m loss in the first half of 2014. The US construction services business joined its UK counterpart in the red, posting a £41m operating loss, compared to a £12m operating profit last year. Balfour said the overall loss was in line with market expectations as set by a £150m profit warning issued last month - its seventh in three years. Balfour sought to reassure investors that it expects 90% of its historic problematic UK contracts to be resolved by the end of 2016. Quinn (pictured) said: “Inevitably the headline numbers set out the consequences of the historic issues that are now being tackled.†He added that despite the ongoing losses his “conviction†was that the firm would achieve “superior returns†in the “medium termâ€. He said the firm’s ‘Build to Last’ transformation programme was “on course†to meet its 24-month targets to generate £200m of extra cash and cut £100m of cost. The firm’s overall revenue was down marginally to £3.47bn, down from £3.56bn last year, while UK construction services revenue also dipped slightly to £1.12bn, down from £1.14bn.
