Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Looks like an excellent job hope Hereford Housing charge HC for the work and double time for Sunday working. Reading the comments on Facebook Your Hereford and HC a lot of people are very angry about the lack of grass cutting. Perhaps the anger has been brewing for sometime and this has just tipped it over the edge I do not know. Hope they all remember this state of affairs when they come to put their cross on the paper next year!- 427 replies

"Theyre havin a laff aint they" What planet do these people live on cor blimey in competition with the likes of Birmingham/Manchester/Liverpool. These people can't even get the basics right. There is really is no hope.

It is not only people moving from organisation to organisation within the Council it is people leaving the Council who somehow pop up in positions where they can use their former knowledge and expertise to even further their career and naturally help their new employer to greater profits. Only this week I have heard of a former Planning Officer who quite recently was handling the somewhat more complex PA's having left the Council and moved to a national house developer. This same person is now employed by a local developer/contractor where no doubt his brain and knowledge will be picked to pieces. I am amazed at there is not a clause in the Council's Employment Contract forbidding moving into a similar position within the private sector. I worked for a company where you had to wait 3 years before you moved to a similar role.

There is no guarantee that this PA will go to Committee. I believe it is dependent on how much public interest there is and the local Ward Councillor has the option of calling it in. Some say the Planning Committee is non political but alas reality is it is and with so many Cons on the Panel I fear that the writing is on the wall for many PA's! I had reason to attend 2 Planning Committee Meetings last year and without boring you all with too much detail it certainly was an education. I urge anybody who has the time and inclination to attend one. Dippy Hippy I am sorry your trips to lovely Hay did not bear any fruit in one respect but I am sure just going to Hay reminds you of how with careful planning a small town can develop and remain a pleasure to visit. With regard to what to object to in a PA some advisers say stick to only material planning matters other say to put everything in but don't ramble too much try to stay factual. If you put everything in it might just strike a chord with a voter who is wavering on which way to vote. Anything is worth a try. Slightly off topic but still to do with planning matters in the HT this week there is a small notice in the bottom left hand corner of page 26 regarding a proposed PA for 90 houses Hereford side of Clehonger. The notice is entitled Public Consultation does this now tick the box for Public Consultation? The notice refers you to visit website - www.your-views.co.uk/clehonger - this link does not work. I emailed Gladmans (the developers) at lunchtime to say the link does not work and still have not received a reply. Lovely to see such an efficient company are planning on changing the face of the countryside. Sorry to put this on this forum but I felt it was worth commenting on and probably not worth starting a fresh topic. -

Anybody and everybody can object either by writing or by e mail -
In the Core Strategy it seems to assume that it will be a Western Bypass. When was this decided in favour of an Eastern Bypass? Or better still when was it discussed? Apparently and I have not yet read it there is a section stating 106 monies although specified for such and such will once the Core Strategy becomes a working document be transferrable to another "worthie" cause. Is nothing the Council writes worth the paper it is written on?

And judging by the lack of skill used to fill the potholes I certainly do not think BB have the expertise to put right the wrong. Oh what have they have done to our once beautiful county?- 427 replies

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
Denise Lloyd replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
What a lot of people do not probably realise is that it will be more untidy when they cut it. I doubt whether the cut grass will be taken away and because of the recent heavy rain and people walking on lush long grass a lot of it will not be cut. Unless they return pretty quickly after this first cut and cut it again it will look horrendous. They have in a nutshell buggerred it up for the year. The one way funnily enough is for sheep to graze it right down and then it might stand a chance of recovery next year but I am sorry to say unless some fairly drastic knowledgeable action is taken on all this uncut grass it will be spoilt forever. What an excellent money saving little exercise that was. Less than a year now and counting.- 427 replies

Another very good organisation is the CPRE (Commission for the Protection of Rural England). Whilst they are more concerned with rural areas they have a designated Planning Department and have written some excellent letters of objection. One of the PA's they played an enormous role in was the Home Farm Belmont PA. It is worth perusing their website and maybe making contact with the local chairman. -

This might be considered a daft idea but as we all know Hay Festival is on this week. It will be swarming with people with plenty of clout. If anybody is going to any of the events perhaps it would be a good idea to somehow put the word about. National coverage is needed if any difference is going to be made. Just a thought. You don't have to go any event you just mingle with the crowds and people watch you never know who you might just see! -

Good letter in HT from JB of HCS -
Yes I was going to suggest Hereford Futures I think I wrote a little while ago how they are all intertwined. I think I used company check or Duedil on various directors and it is fascinating how so many of them are connected either by blood relation/marriage/business. Where Wilmont lives at Church ViewTarrington there are so many intertwinings it's like pigs around swill! The one thing that does puzzle me I could not find much on Johnson did he not hold any directorships prior to joining HF?

Lack of grass cutting around the city and county!
Denise Lloyd replied to maao's topic in Open Forum
Phillip Price is or was a farmer and I never saw his farm look untidy. Everything was neat and tidy. So with that in mind why does he think us plebs will put up with this state of affairs. It is a total shambles. Talk about going from the sublime to the ridiculous when you are sat in the traffic in Newmarket Street on one side you have the sublime if that's your bag on t'other you have overgrown grass chipped paint on the bent tatty rails. No I have had enough of being short changed I demand a refund. The council tax we pay over each money is not pennies it is a LOT of money and I hate squandering my hard earned cash and like to think we are getting a bit of value for our money - we are not - I feel insulted that they think we do not have standards and will happily put up with this. Well we won't I too voted today! -

Off we go again another hair brained very costly exercise. Our suits do not seem to understand tidy as you go along. -
Yes this massive very glossy document printed on B4 paper was printed off and at least one copy was given to each Parish Council in the county for comment. The cost of producing this would no doubt have been enough to keep every single blade of grass the Council owns nicely preened throughout the year. It would have been enough to undo some of the hardships the vulnerable and elderly are suffering because of the cuts that have been thrust upon us. Is our money being used wisely?

Bobby I think you must have worked at the same companies that I have. Brown nosing goes on in every company BUT eventually wait long enough and they all come tumbling down and the crows come home to roost. Take note you highly paid suits!!

Litter, flytipping, graffiti and other eyesores
Denise Lloyd replied to Roger's topic in Newton Farm
What false economy this is. It will take longer to cut and it will take longer to restore to it's former glory - green grass. If a private garden is left untouched it is a devil's own job to get it back. In my travels over the weekend it occurred to me that when housing developments are built the Council always specify an area of green/play area which the Council are responsible for the upkeep thereof. How fed up these people who bought their houses facing these green areas must feel. The majority of us try to keep a reasonably tidy garden but this is being counteracted by the damned weeds blowing because of the failure of the Council. HC would have been well advised to keep joe public on side and then they would have the support they are obviously looking for. However bad things are at the Council I expect they still pick up their big fat pay packets at the end of the month. Things are only really bad when that doesn't happen - I know! Could somebody please explain the last para to me. -
I seem to remember Tony Johnson I think it was saying or writing that Geoff Hughes has 4 roles within the Council. Spreads himself thinly so does he really earn £120k or is he just paid it!
