Old Market Car Park Prices Announced
Biomech replied to Alex's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
Let's not forget what we have seen in the past. The hospital is ridiculously expensive for parking - so people park in Morrissons or that new cheap on. The same thing will happen here, people will opt to park elsewhere, the streets, courtyard(?) maybe, Merton Meadow before it goes. And Tesco. And as anyone who has been in Tesco when it's at capacity will know, that causes huge problems with traffic, gridlocked in the small one way system and often backed up out of the entrance and onto the roundabout. I think as Roger said above, the streets are going to be fuller in the surrounding areas. -

I see what you are saying, but normally when you go somewhere shopping you have a much bigger choice - like Cardiff or Worcester, for example. These are just the same shops that we've already had but now with addition of expensive parking. I suppose if you're not from Hereford it may be different, but as someone who lives in Hereford, the closeness to the city is a convenience, this parking takes away that convenience. I don't want to have to pay for parking just to see if they MIGHT have something that I want to buy. Like I say, I don't tend to shop in Hereford anymore, when I do go in it's literally 10 minutes to grab something or do the banking, I don't want to be paying £1.20 for 3 minutes in Next picking up a jumper. When you go to Cardiff or Cheltenham, you generally go for more than just a look, you might have dinner as well - which, of course, you can do at the OLM, but as a local, going into town isn't a day out or a trip (sitting in traffic aside). As I've mentioned before, go to the Metro Centre in Newcastle and all of the parking is free. I'm lead to believe that the council will take the money from parking. Perhaps then the issue is that they want the money not the shops. Because it's quite clear that offering free parking would be hugely beneficial to the shops and surrounding areas. If you listen to the radio, you often here of the Crown Gate in Worcester offering parking for £1 all day. -
HA-Herefordshire Council On Own Over Western Bypass
Biomech replied to Frank Smith's topic in Open Forum
They probably don't want to be lumbered with the inevitable onslaught of bullshit, secrecy and bad decisions. Personally, I can't blame them! -
It was indeed a play on words / sarcasm By all means Colin feel free to edit :)
-
But their position or lack of in the league is completely separate to them going under for having no money and dodging tax right?
-
Oh no Colin, you misunderstand - the POWER was out, the whole grid was down, people in the houses were left in the dark :P

Are there a LOT of bike parking bays? I was under the belief that the council wanted to push walking and cycling more, but if there is only the usual or a few amount of places to lockup a biike, it kind of goes against what they are saying. Do you notice how the charges per hour go UP as well, normally you get a discount for bulk, but in this case you're paying more per hour the longer you stay. It starts with increments of £1.20, then £1.70 then £2.30, so for your sixth hour - according to that information, you're nearly paying double. -
Or so I hear - the power was out all down Edgar Street last night. Just want you want on a Friday night

Ah see, Roger points out that WH are closing some outlets, that'll keep the day time drinkers and gamblers nicely away from the OLM. Funny though isn't it, how they don't want betting shops clustered, they wouldn't want sex shops clustered, yet are happy to pack in as many foreign food shops as they can into a small space.
-
I don't know what their motive is, but I'm pretty sure it will go through as it will enable the council to keep the day drinkers and betting shop campers further away from the OLM, taking them away from William Hill so as to not tarnish their beloved monollith

Guess where I won't be parking :P I bet Tesco is going to be hit with an increase in parking for OLM access, that's going to cause problems with traffic. -
New Odeon Multiplex Cinema Opens May 22nd
Biomech replied to Alex's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
I just wanted to clarify, I meant the picture quality in the cinema, it's the same for all cinemas. -

The quality in the cinema is horrendous really. But it is god for a big screen and the sound. Personally I like going to Worcester or Gloucester because it's a bit of a trip out then. We have a cinema now, so the economics behind it aren't really that different, the benefit now is more choice of film -

I didn't even know we had to have yellow bags as well! as the green ones and the black ones and purple ones and the orange ones.... Hey, maybe they'll buy us all yellow wheelie bins as well! The mixture of rotting meat, animal faeces and decaying tampons sounds quite delightful, maybe Boots will pick it up for their perfume range

They can do indeed. I find the hardest thing is getting through on the phone, it's engaged from 7.50am every day. You really just have to keep hitting redial until you get through. But again, it's people abusing the doctors. If you've burnt your hand on the grill, run it under water. If you've twisted your ankle, rest it. Personally, I ignore everything until I HAVE to go to the Dr's and then when I do I try and go with a hitlist of things so I can get lots of things checked and questions answered in the one appointment.

Herefordshire Council In National Press: Welfare Assistance
Biomech replied to gdj's topic in Open Forum
Holy ****! So, how many councillors on here are going to ignore the question: "What happened to the unspent money?" -
My opinion; While the "Asda" part is sensationalised for the paper, the underlying problem of directing people to drop in centres is understaffing, closing of departments and too many patients - some of which shouldn't be there. A drop in centre should be an addition, NOT a replacement.
-
I think this is the crux of the problem, every day we see more and more how people are too stupid to take responsibility for themselves, it's these people who waste resources. People who post on facebook "My little girls got a temperature and they said I have to wait 40 minutes for an ambulance". I've been to the Asda drop in a few times, the first was quite good then it got worse and worse with the waiting times. They have a massive strain - from my experience and others - from foreign nationals going there. Indeed, staff have commented that the large influx of foreign nationals has caused delays as, obviously, an increase in footfall and the language barrier. The last 2 times I've been have had average waiting times of 6 hours, and you can't can't leave, you have to wait. But like I say, when it first opened I went down after half of my tooth snapped off. I was given a dental appointment 30 minutes later and while I was in the chair I was surprised to discover that they were doing a full temporary fix right there!
-
Slightly sensationalised of course http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2608649/Patients-advised-to-Asda-urgent-medical-care-NHS-units-shut-staff-shortages.html Patients were advised to go to Asda for urgent medical care after NHS units shut due to staff shortages

Traffic Lights Campaign - Part -Time Lights 7pm-7am
Biomech replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
It's got to the point now that if I'm stopped at a red light at 2am if I can see clearly I'll go anyway. There have been more times than I care to count in the day that the roads have been more than safe to pull out of yet we're stuck sitting behind red lights.- 82 replies

The other week I noted a lorry coming out of that side hole in the OLM on edgar street and realised that if they need to go North they have to manouvere their artics across 3 lanes of traffic to get onto the roundabout. The one I saw do this had some difficulty with the high levels of traffic. So what's the deal there?

Councillors Responses To Lights Out Trial
Biomech replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
And we all know why that is don't we. -
"With just a matter of weeks to go.......and a run of sought-after new names currently being signed up to take the smaller store units" I'll let you come to your own conclusions. As for Well that's just pure bullshit spin. Doesn't really count when your base consists of current users moving premises.

Oh Mick, you've just made a school boy error - you asked a question directed at those in the know and expected to get an answer :P
