Exactly. I know some have, but if they wanted to save the club they would be doing more themselves and stop letting fans throw away their money for no reason Indeed. But do people honestly think collection buckets are going to save the club? Much better off taking that money and donating it to a worthwhile cause. Saving a club that will not be saved is not a worthwhile cause. I'm absolutely convinced that football fans are blinded by their passion.

I think it's wrong that people are going out with collection buckets asking for donations. The club won't be saved, people are taking and wasting their money. You're basically collecting money for the directors pockets.

The 3rd alternative is that we do something ourselves. We open a Hereford Steak House, We open a new music shop. But the rates are extortionate, the council object and cause problems at every turn, it's just not feasible or worth doing. I'm currently looking at opening up a shop and after considering Hereford first, I'm now looking at Worcester as a more viable option.

That's the problem isn't it. There is no choice and (see next comment). I absolutely agree. But... we don't have progress. We appreciate that the OLM takes time to develop, but now we're nearing completion we find it's packed with shops we already have. So in essence all the OLM has done is shift the city across a bit. Likewise, a river side development takes time, but there is none. The left bank has been left to squander for years, nothing is being done. And that's the problem, I honestly don't think people would complain half as much if we had some transparency and if there was a final benefit or goal. Tell the people of Hereford that their moving the cattle market or Lidl to a new development on the river and you'd get nothing but disdain. Tell the people of Hereford that you're building a Hereford Steak House on the river or some kind of restaurant or relevant attraction and people would probably praise it. I just went into town, the amount of people running red lights was atrocious - but anyway. I was after some catalogue bluray films. ie older than 3 months. Asda and Tesco carry chart titles only, WH Smith only had a couple of straight to TV titles. And it dawned on me, HMV is the ONLY place in Hereford (afaik) that actually sells films and music. And HMV is quite expensive. Not too mention they didn't stock the titles I was after (blockbusters, these weren't obscure titles). I ended up buying most of what I needed from second hand shops. Had I not needed them for today, I would have ordered from an online company or gone to Worcester/Cardiff because of the choice. And not just products, shops.

So what is the deal with the idiots who run this city then? Serious question, how does this work, they are VERY clearly inept, who do they answer to? Surely there is someone above them that can look down and say "f*** me, what the f*** are you doing, you're all fired"? I don't subscribed to the notion that it's merely down to public votes. Someone in central government should be able to step in and clear them out for being unsuitable for the job.

We chunter because we know nothing that we do will be listened to. It's the reason half of us don't shop or go out in Hereford anymore. Nothing changes, so we just chunter away :)

lol I really don't understand how the people in charge are so blind to this city crumbling. All they have to do is open their ears too see and their ears to listen. Indeed, that's my take on it, as per my previous post about the tax/bonus scam Even that is in excess of what is required to live. I live on my own and survive on just over a grand a month. If I was part of a couple, the rent and bills don't really change, it just means I'm 50% better off because my other half would be paying the other half. The total cost of living would still only be just over a grand. Probably less in fact because I wouldn't have to throw out so much food.

Just got the council tax letter through the post - no surprise it's gone up despite an increasing lack of services...

You won't have a choice roxane, all of the shops from high town are going in there. Once TK maxx, H&M, Fat Face and River Island are in that leaves pretty much the tiny space downstairs in New Look as a place to buy mens clothes. Unless you're slightly older and shop in M&S. I'll continue to do my non food shopping in Worcester and Cardiff, far more choice. Edit: Sorry I forgot Next, I forget that because it's "out of town" at the moment, but that's going in the OLM as well. So much for the blatant lies that we'd get new shops and town shops wouldn't be moving.

Ah I see, so it's not the people having to pay these rates, it's an internal inter-company scam to generate more money like a tax/bonus scam. Write budgeted tax payers money off against paying for these houses, then the top brass gets a bigger cut. That Kip is spot on, I spent some time in Iceland and their roads were immaculate, here: http://goo.gl/EgKfmY Now zoom out in map mode and see how remote that road is. I saw ONE pothole. Which, in their defence was on a track road in the canyon of two intercontinental shifting tectonic plates. It was reported and the road immediately closed for assessment and repair. Some great comments by Kip on suing the council for litter as well. Fantastic, I hope to see a lot more of that going on.

I agree with Jim.... to a degree :) When things are beyond economical repair, you flatten them. Build a new fire station. I think the bigger issue here is what the council are doing with these sites and how they are trading them off and selling them £1 to the lowest bidder. I believe that is of bigger concern. I saw this picture on facebook this morning, I don't know was responsible for what happened here, but an old building was removed and whoever put in the new ones did a very good job. Someone states "I preferred it before", I think they are being pedantic because that is an improvement economically, structurally and aesthetically. Although I do appreciate many people like the old days and the old stuff. Personally, I'm not against change, I'm against change done wrong or badly.

I came down there yesterday and agree with whoever pointed it out above, there really doesn't appear to be enough width for 2 lanes. Maybe they are making them super narrow so people are overly cautious and drive slower? Of course, that's not going to bode well with the emergency services, buses and artics that use the roads

Perhaps this is well planned foresight! With the cost of cigarettes going up, HC have given us a place to rest and breath in car fumes for free :P
