Ah right, so as well as TK Maxx and Next, Fat Face, Clarkes and H&M and also leaving the town center as well then and River Island won't be back there - mind you, its been gone several years anyway So how many new actual shops are we getting? How many of these "new" jobs are actually people moving in from their current premises? By all means tell me I'm complaning again, but really, is anyone actually impressed with this? There's only 3 new shops, the rest we already have and are just moving - leaving spaces behind. Where are all the new shops we were promised?

Crime Police Hunt For Man After Cash Stolen In Hereford
Biomech replied to Colin James's topic in Police & Crime
How much money was it? How did he know the freezer bag contained money? -
And would you be speaking on behalf of all business owners when you say that their customers leaving "won't be missed"?

I accept that not everything can be maintained to 100%, 100% of the time. But there's a huge difference between some overgrown bushes and shop doorways full of sick and human **** and bins overflowing with rubbish and cigarette pieces coating the floor. I only go to town now to bank cheques, the next time I have one, I'll take some photos. But don't worry, Aylestone Voice has come up with the great idea that whenever we have a bad experience with anything, we should just tell everyone how amazing it was.
-
To surmise, the shopping experience, in it's totality, in Hereford is awful.

Actually the problem is that I resent having to travel all over town to find things that most people would consider common. I asked in Tesco and was told they weren't sold, I bought them on my 3rd trip to Wilkos - who didn't sell the ink. I thought Cartridge World was in Broad Street, I went there and saw nothing. None of this negates the fact that it's difficult to find basic items in Hereford AND that the place looks like a **** tip. If you honestly think that piles of sick, pi*%, curry and cigarette butts filling doorways with grimy windows with dicks drawn on them is acceptable, then I'm sorry but you're a ******* moron. Yes I can find fault, but only were fault exists. I can also appreciate things done properly, of which there is a massive lack in Hereford. All today has done is give me more reason not to go into town.
-
More fool me, I went into town today. Nothings changed, I need some ink for my printer, WHSmith was sold out, Cartridge World has moved to Holmer and the other places have closed. So I did the usual walk all over town looking for a basic product while being consistently hassled by the clipboard people* and finally picked up the very last 1 in Argos. While in town hunting for such a simple item (do you know Tesco doesn't sell pastry/cake cutters/shapes at all?), I noticed bins full to the brim, some with nappies stuffed in the tops, cigarette (phag is censored?) buts EVERYWHERE outside Tesco/Cash Machines and Chadds.... the only words to describe what I saw there is "f*** me". There are (penises) drawn in the dirt on the unbelievably filthy windows and the door ways are FULL of pi*% and vomit. Which basically brings me to ask - Does anyone EVER clean the streets? While I often drive through between 2am-5am, I haven't pulled an all nighter for a long time. I know I haven't seen a street cleaner out for over 10 years. If you can stomach it, I'd urge you all to just have a glance into the Chadds doorways next time you're in town. * Something needs to be done about them. Why can't they stick to a plot like the Sky salesmen?

According to this facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/esgpics/posts/405612439573605?stream_ref=10 Some people are pushing for a Burger King to be added to the list. Comments of more than 1 word seem to be against it, although it clearly has it's supporters. I like Burger King, but come on, another generic fast food place? I thought the purpose of the OLM was to bring people in, why would people come from outside of Hereford just to go to a cinema they already have near them or to eat a Burger King or McDonalds which are 2 a penny? Surely you need to get people coming here with unique shops, activities etc? Someone in the comments suggested a Hereford Steak House which I think would be a fantastic idea! We have world famous beef known around the globe.. and yet we have no steak house. Surely the definition of insanity? ............

I really don't see the problem, it's the general discussion area of the forums and yet still pertains to council and government cut backs. What if this was a cyclist who died due to a pothole in... Cardiff... would that be acceptable news for here? Are you saying then Glenda that people need to die in Hereford due to cutbacks before it becomes relevant? NHS funding, potholes, overpaid made up jobs etc etc are all national issues that effect everyone. I don't know how it is run now, but about 10-15 years ago I was in trouble in Hereford city, I ran to the police station only to find it closed. The A&E Here may well still be open, but it's cutbacks are having an impact on peoples lives. Perhaps Colin could edit my post to include "a North London A&E"? My edit options are closed now

This is the general topics section is it not? And, I don't need to remind everyone I'm sure that, council and government cut backs happen all over the country so is relevant to how things are going here.

2 year old boy dies when his mother rushes him to North London A&E only to find that it's been closed down due to cuts. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2541890/Boy-2-dies-family-rushes-hospital-not-realising-A-E-unit-closed-NHS-reforms-causing-half-hour-delay-treatment.html Just another day in council/government service closures.

You best bet for success is to get registered as a charity. People are, rightly, reluctant to donate money to a "page" or "website" setup whatever the cause. Registering as a charity not only gives you credit, but is a requirement for corporate donations to be written off against profit - so without it, you probably won't get m/any donations from businesses.

How about they change a little - I don't know, NOT increase council tax by 1.9% - and then we can all save.

I popped a bit in the other thread here: http://www.herefordvoice.co.uk/topic/772-herefordshire-council-refused-my-hot-food-curfew-petition/ Essentially, I believe that the nightclubs serving hot food whilst forcing a curfew and refusal of longer hours on independent traders constitutes a monopoly - which is illegal

We Need Better Lane Guidance On Hereford Roundabout
Biomech replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford City
And, as I mentioned, I have just driven this... ridiculous. It's ok and it's usable if people actually do what they are supposed to. Coming from Steels I wanted to go to Asda Furthest right lane (4) into middle lane in front of the bus exit. That's how it's supposed to be (imo). Waiting at the lights I had 3 cars to my left (1st lane Ross Road) trying to force their way in to my/middle lane. Only for them to end up in the left ross road lane after the roundabout. Clearly they were all in the wrong lane on Edgar Street. Not only that, all 3 were sitting in the yellow box, several beeped myself and the cars in the correct lane and the cars coming from Edgar street - now having no where to go because these cars had filled up the yellow box - where also beeping at everyone. The yellow box is problem, it covers too many lanes and you can't see if it's clear on the other side because of the angle of the junction. Anyway, after sitting on the bridge for 10 minutes and then seeing the gridlocked queue trying to get out of Asda, I gave up and went home. I, stupidly, thought that the traffic would be slightly better at 2pm on a Saturday with less works traffic and no school running around. I was wrong.- 28 replies

We Need Better Lane Guidance On Hereford Roundabout
Biomech replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford City
I've just been around there (see next post) This is how I see it working. Steels approaching the roundabout . 1, 2, 3, 4 1 = Edgar Street 2 = Edgar Street right / New Market Street L 3 = New Market Street R / A49 L Ross 4 = A49 R Belmont Facing Tesco exit, new lanes; 1, 2, 3 1 = Into Tesco Buses / A49 L Ross 2 = A49 R Belmont 3 = Whitecross So imagine it exactly the same as before. Now all you have is the additional 3rd lane for those wanting to peel off to Whitecross and not sit in the A49 traffic for 2 hours. So.. Coming from Steels to go to Ross Road or Tesco Carpark, you go in the 3rd lane which becomes the 1st lane facing tesco bus exit Coming from Steels to go to Belmont or Asda, you go in the 4th (furthest right) lane which then becomes the middle lane facing the tesco bus exit. Coming from Steels to go to Whitecross, you go in the 4th (furthest right) lane which then becomes the middle lane facing the tesco bus exit, pulling off right into the 3rd/far right lane for W/Cross If anyone has an up to date diagram, I'd be happy to draw out the lines- 28 replies

Let's hope that they are a bit .... "Lively".... in the restoration of the Left Bank
-
Ah yeah sorry :P kind of went down the dire straight of high town.... On another note, I think you should follow the anti competitive / anti monopoly law angle on the hot food issue!
-
I see they have "repaired"? a pothole? outside HSBC.... I should have taken a photo. What is a slabbed street covered in interlinking grey bricks, now has a huge misshapen dump of black tarmac in the middle. Anyone know why they haven't fixed the hole(?) with actual bricks like the rest of the road?
-
I can't imagine that they would have got very far and only made themselves look like an idiot in the process
-
I wouldn't be surprised if a FOI found out the works only cost £20.00 and that the rest of the money accounted for fixing problems and was listed under something else :P

£1.25m? Christ, that's cheaper than a number of houses around here. You'd have to be a fool not to buy in for that price even for a resale heh. Well anyway, here's hoping they do something good with it and not just turn it into flats up top with charity shops below.
