A plea to the Council on behalf of Rosé Tinted Rags.
dippyhippy replied to bobby47's topic in Open Forum
Thanks for your input on this Jim, you're a top bloke! (I hope you, Mark, Chris etc. realise that my earlier comment was aimed purely at the cabinet members....come 2015 I would be more than happy to see you still in!!) -
Cannot Purchase Hot Food In Hereford City After 1.30am
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Funnily enough Jim, I asked the same question a few weeks ago, on the Old Market thread! There are several food places opening, and if the cinema intends to show late night screenings, folks will be expecting these establishments to be open! Its only around the corner from Commercial Road, but is it still classed as being in the "No Go" Zone????- 291 replies

I think this is a fantastic idea - something run by the people for the people! Absolutely brilliant. "They" won't like it though.....they will probably say they have enough procedures in place to listen to their tenants. Well, quite frankly, they obviously aren't working as well as they should from some of the cases you have outlined on here. An independent voice for the tenants seems the most logical step forward. I wish you all the luck in the world with this endeavour.

Perhaps this lot need a reminder that there are elections next year - if any of them have a hope in hell of getting back in, they need to start listening. Personally, I can't wait until May 2015, lets see the back of this bunch of self serving buffoons.( This cabinet has got to go!!) Maybe then, the most vulnerable in our society will finally have some say in events which affect them so very much. -
Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Well done Megilleland! I think you have summed up nicely the main points of the case we would like to put forward! There have been plenty of comments on this, lots of input from a variety of folk.....this idea seems to be the way forward. To me, it ticks all boxes. Its a realistic and feasible alternative to the plan which is currently on the table, and I truly feel it is worthy of serious discussion. -

Hells Bells! These clandestine meetings of Tappers Anonymous are going to end badly one of these days! Arrest, divorce or a trip down to A and E !!

Serious Armed Robbery Near Hereford Subway *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Police & Crime
And before someone says it....no, I didn't mean for one minute that the police shouldn't close it off, after an incident such as this - when I say its inconvenient, I mean when it floods! -
Serious Armed Robbery Near Hereford Subway *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Police & Crime
Evening Biomech! It wasn't closed for too long....it's shut for longer when it floods! You have to walk along Victoria Street towards St Nicholas church, and use that subway! The other option of using the subway by the cattle market has disappeared...along with the pavement to reach it! It is, actually, very inconvenient when you can't use this subway. I do see folks actually trying to cross, and climbing over the middle bit....have to say, I have never risked it !! -
Soooo.....I haven't been along here yet, is the black strip of tarmac to the right of the van a cycle path? I'll reserve judgement on how narrow this is until we've negotiated it in Morrison - our camper van!
-
Blimey! When did they do this? I knew something was being planned, it was announced after that bus accident...this actually looks MORE dangerous than before...particularly for pedestrians if vehicles are mounting the curb! Has any real thought gone into this...?? I think not!

Hey Colin! I just noticed that the "most online" number has changed to 160! Also, the most members online record in a day has gone up to 42! There certainly seems to be a flurry of folk signing up on here lately! What with HT using your photo's, and you scooping them again with the subway story, you're definitely giving Fffffiona a run for her money!! Its no wonder they have started copying some of the threads on here......noteworthy Herefordians...??

The warmest of congratulations to all those couples who married today, you have made history - this change has been a long time coming!! For my part, I have never married, I don't require a piece of paper telling me that I live with someone who I'm more than a little fond of, but it has always struck me as wrong that I could easily do this if I wished, yet same sex couples have not been afforded the same choice. I am delighted that they can now have the same options as everybody else.

Hear Hear! Mark, yours would be impossibly big shoes to fill! I truly hope that you will stand again, local politicians of your calibre and integrity are few and far between. Many folk have a lot of faith in you.....have a little faith in yourself that come 2015 , the political landscape inHereford will finally change. You, Liz, Jim, Chris and others have done much for this county....perhaps we should go on record and say how much it is appreciated!

Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*

Hi there Cambo, thanks for your post.....honestly, I was unaware that HCS HAD appealed the decision! Grid Knocker, were you aware of this...???? Oh Lordy....I have so much information on this, I am losing track! I am not complaining - over 4,500 views, and 280 plus comments is fabulous! -
Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
So! Do we have any "significant evidence relating to the special architectural or historic interest of the building which was not previously considered"???? For my part, I think they have absolutely made the wrong decision. According to Cambo's post, we need to bring something else to the party.....do we have anything concrete we can challenge them with?? Ubique, my friend, I will have that telephone number....I think its worth having a conversation about. -

Two Wheels, my quote thingy isn't working,(Well it probably is, but I can't get it to do what I want it to do!) but yes, absolutely agree with your post about the boys home, and what happened prior to it being transferred to the council. This appears to be a grey area. I honestly feel the devil could be in the detail with this one. Has anybody had any thoughts on challenging English Heritage's decision??? -
Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Yes, I would like to second that. Mark Hubbard is an outstanding individual, and councillor. Praise where praise is due. There are too few people who go all out, to try to achieve what is best for this city and the folks who live here....Mark Hubbard is head and shoulders above the majority. We absolutely need more folk like him. -

Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Evening Cambo, sorry I didn't get around to replying further last night, I am afraid tiredness got the better of me! I am slightly surprised that Malvern have managed, what we in Hereford obviously cannot. "Substantial redesign and development of existing site" I appreciate that they appear to have had another station to work from, they say themselves that this saved money as they didn't have to find temporary premises......but it can be done! This is what should be happening here. There is no reason, from what I have been told why the existing site should not be upgraded and improved. With regard to the Hereford Civic Society, they seem reluctant to appeal English Heritages decision, can we? As a group who feel so strongly about saving The Working Boys Home, are we able to challenge this? The longer this thread is up, the more alternative uses for this building are being suggested. And now we see what Worcester are planning to do........ I need more wine, and another smoke whilst I contemplate that! -
Hi Smartieno1, Going back to one of your earlier posts, the weekly spot check. Is this really necessary? The family I know of, had their weekly visit on a Thursday. They had asked if it could be an afternoon visit, as the one tenant worked 12 hour night shifts. A reasonable request you would think. But no. In this one bedroom property, an inspector would peer around the door, as the poor chap tried to get some sleep, before marking his piece of paper "satisfactory." I just found the whole situation unbelievably awful.

Old Market Hereford
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
I can think of a few heads to go on those pikes! Another great set of pics Megilleland. I can now see why thousands of folk will flock here. It's breathtaking! I feel such a fool now for ever having any reservations about this project. It truly is a sight to behold. Just a few finishing touches needed.....maybe a couple of hanging baskets to distract the eye from the salty walls, the roadworks, the on going construction, the dust, dirt and noise..... Hanging baskets are brilliant for that sort of thing.....honestly!! Yes, its all worked out wonderfully well......- 185 replies
