What on earth is a "breakout space"?? And precisely what is its purpose? More pointedly, how much money has been spent on it, when many folk are living in sub standard property? As an organisation, do they not "get" why people are cheesed off with this sort of complete and utter nonsense. I am sure Herefordshire Housing residents could have come up with a variety of different uses for the money which has been spent on this refurbishment. And if Richard wants ideas that "challenge" him, I am sure posters on here could come up with quite a few!

Hi Mark! Sorry, should have made my comment clearer! I am not disappointed in your post, not at all-its item 14 being approved that disappoints me. As Cambo says, its not all over.....it just didn't go the way I had hoped. Never mind! We will battle on, and hope that all is not lost! -

I am so very disappointed. We all knew this was a long shot, but it's still the news we didn't want to hear. Grid Knocker is correct in saying that we still want answers to many questions surrounding this whole sorry affair. Thanks to everybody who has participated and contributed to this thread. I didn't for one minute think that this amount of interest would be generated, it just goes to show that there are many folk in Hereford who do care deeply about this city. -
Hi Smartieno1 I wanted to check my facts before I posted this. I know of a family who were in this situation, for 3 months. They required temporary housing as they were made homeless. The woman received maternity leave pay, whilst her partner worked full time, and was paid just over the minimum wage - their rent was at the rate you stated. I helped them complete housing benefit forms. They received £11.00 per week help. I was shocked. This is an absolute outrage. They literally had no money to live on after paying this. Thankfully, they were rehoused quickly, and now pay £87.00 per week rent. As working tenants, there was next to no help available to them. This is so wrong.

I must apologise to anyone who has spent today looking at the WEN site, for news of an update - as we all know, the meeting is tonight! I quite literally didn't know what day it was today....my thanks to Mark Hubbard for bringing back to planet earth!! I shall endeavour to be a tad more on the ball tomorrow! -
Managed to log in tonight....comment left! What a shame Dr Jazz spent his time posting a comment disparaging some of us, instead of leaving a supportive word or two for Rose Tinted Rags. I just do not understand some people.

Evening all! Aylestone Voice and John, no apology is necessary......I am often guilty of going off at a tangent! I do it all the time, as my mind wanders from one subject to another!! Cambo, I need to read and digest your post!! Let me roll a smoke, and I'll get back to you....it's been a busy day!! -
With very expensive parking perhaps.....????? Don't forget, the developers were given the most valuable asset - the land - for free!

Top of the Morning, to you Posting Posse!! Just to keep you up to date, I have popped over to the Worcester Evening News site, to see if they have an early report on yesterdays closed door meeting. Nothing yet - if any of you can check throughout the day, and post a link if there is an update, I would be extremely grateful!!! There's a Well Done sticker for the first poster to spot it!! -

Good Morning Denise! You have come up with some great alternative uses for these premises! Certainly, with the fate of Rose Tinted Rags hanging in the balance, I am sure there are quite a few community projects that would love a share of this space! There is a little shop within the bus station, The Merchants House, I think its called, and they sell all manner of things that are made by folks with a disability. Likewise the shop that was in Maylords by the bottom of the escalator, that sells things like garden benches and bird boxes. It would make a great craft centre and workshop. As Two Wheels pointed out on the RTR thread.....its vacant now! -

Well folks, this is now Day Twelve, of Operation - Save The Working Boys Home. Tomorrow evening we may have some news from "the closed door" meeting. Have a really good look at the wonderful photographs Megilleland has posted (thanks for those!) Isn't this building 100 times more lovely than the OLM? The clock is ticking.....please make sure those emails have been sent!! -
Yes Two Wheels! You do dare say it! And the Shirehall must surely be almost finished....then Brockington will be vacant! Bobby, just to let you know, I have just popped over to HT, and read your simply outstanding post on the RTR thread. Well done. You said it all. I'm not sure what/if I've done wrong....but I cannot log in to HT, I haven't had an email, so I don't think I'm joining the list of the banned, but I was unable to leave a comment tonight. I'll try again tomorrow......

Really disappointed that HC have decided to take this very high handed approach, and not give RTR more time. What assistance are the COUNCIL giving them to find alternative premises?? (I am not including Chris Chapel here, as I know he is already trying to help) Is there any available space at The St Owens Centre/The Barrs Court Hub ?? What about the possibility of using a community centre as a base? I thought I read somewhere that a Tupsley Action Group had taken over the White House, and intended to develop it for community use....could there be a partnership of sorts with a community focused group like this - even if it was a temporary measure??
-
Well done Glenda! These figures seem unrealistically high....hope you can uncover the reasons why.
-
Thanks Roger! Nit nurses provided an invaluable service! I'll sign that petition!

Cheers Bobby!

Hey Combo! I have been known to pen the odd protest poem! I wrote one once called "Fare Thee Well To Jarvis" when he resigned....and HT actually published it!! My old Mum was so proud! Feel free to use anything I have said on here! -

My sincere apologies Bobby, for my tardiness in contributing to this thread! The Clinic. The clinics really busy now, The staff are not surprised, A lack of education, Means STD's are on the rise. The staff have seen it all before, And they're always really nice, Whether Gonorrhea or Syphilus, Or a bout of pubic lice. They do their tests and checks and things, Then make their diagnosis, Prescribe some pills and topical cream, Advise on side effects and doses. But with a little thought and planning, You may never get infected. Always use a condom - And keep yourself protected! By D.Hippy.

Evening Mark, Thanks for posting this update. I really hope that the invited parties can see the value in this public meeting, and agree to attend. As you say, if they decline the invitation, there may be little point organising one. I look forward to hearing back from you, when hopefully we will have something more concrete to work with. Once again, I appreciate you taking the time to keep us in the loop. Posters! Now is the time to hit the email, and make your feelings known! Wednesdays meeting really is the next crucial step! There are three key figures I would like you to email, if you feel as strongly about this as I think you do! The first is Cllr Kit Taylor, who will chair this meeting -ktaylor3@Worcestershire.gov.UK The second is Cllr Prodger, one of the main players in this-dprodger@hwfire.org.UK And finally, IOC's very own Cllr Lloyd Hayes-mlloyd-hayes@Herefordshire.gov.UK Get busy folks!! -

Hi GridKnocker, just a thought.... My dear friend Pat Morgan gave a fairly detailed account of getting "best value" for surplus council buildings, in a letter she wrote to the Hereford Times. The letter is still up on the Your Say page.....along with 34 comments, and an extremely good poem, if I do say so myself! Have a look, and if you can post a link up to this, that would be great!! -
