  1. Oh. (Embarrassed face.) Neither do I. (Barefaced lie.) Its just what I heard..... (Exits stage left!)
  2. Wouldn't it be funny if he wrote them in Latin....???Grid Knocker is a bit good at that sort of thing!!
  3. Evening Biomech! Just wondering if you have seen the latest "Newmarket Street Update" over on HT? It says.....works will be finished in time for the Grand Opening of HMP Hereford! Well, at least that's what I think it says....its about as clear as mud! It also says Wide marsh Gate will be reduced to one lane whilst they FAFF about with that bit, and Newmarket Street will have 2 lanes Westbound and 1 lane Eastbound, whilst they FAFF about finishing the pavements for the hordes of pedestrians eager to spend their unauthorized overdrafts ! Though that's been the case for weeks now, surely?? Don't know why FAFF has gone all upper case on me, but I don't expect it will cause anyone undue concern, so I shan't even attempt to edit it!!
  4. Two Hundred Comments!! Absolutely Fabulous! My Posting Pals, you have done yourselves proud!
  5. Evening All! Cambo, I posted a few days ago, asking Mark if questions would be taken from the public, but I haven't had a response to that question yet. I am thinking we may have to send in written questions, but until we know for sure,I am as much in the dark as you as to what format this meeting will take. There could (hopefully!) be many others with questions they want answers to, so we need to be succinct and to the point, in raising the issues we are most concerned about. If they are to be written questions, I would suggest The Mighty Grid Knocker words them - the man is a genius!
  6. Oh, I KNOW Sun Valley smells bad! Some days I dare not open the windows.....it seems to be getting worse, have rung environmental health, but they say there is nothing to be done. As one of the areas biggest employers, I guess they don't want to upset them!
  7. I would hope that if this fortnightly arrangement is bought in, the powers that be will ensure the Christmas/New Year period is covered. Its one thing to miss a weekly collection.....but fortnightly could be, well, messy to say the least!
  8. Good Grief! They seem to be onto rather a good thing. I always thought teaching was more of a vocation, rather than a business opportunity......... I would imagine that with the rapid rise in number of Academies and Free schools, we are sadly going to see this sort of arrangement far more commonplace. Difficult to say the least, to keep track of. Have to say, this doesn't sit very comfortably with me.
  9. That's just lovely! I wouldn't mind living there! With regard to the public meeting, we need to be clear about which points we want answers to. 1. Is the fire station beyond repair? 2.Have developers been asked for their opinion on The Working Boys Home. 3. Would the bus station/cinema site not be a better option? etc. etc. etc. In other words, we need to get organised folks!
  10. I still can't get my head around why Hereford Futures have been in such "extensive discussions", considering that at this point in time, they were being wound up.
  11. I read it that the council have donated 12% of the £550,000 - and that £550,00 is the total cost so far.....doesn't mean I have read it right though Megilleland! My "council maths" skills, still need a lot of work!
  12. Interesting to note that Pat thinks bi-weekly refuse collection will have "financial and environmental benefits" yet fails to see that the use/cost of outdated incinerator facilities, ticks neither box!! We pay more, we get less, and we are supposed to just sit back and take it?? If there had been huge improvements in children's services.....I might be a tad more forgiving of an increase. But the OFSTED report came out in October 2012! I have heard nothing to suggest there have been any major improvements.
  13. Maybe not! One aspect of refuse collection, that absolutely infuriates me, is that they will only take garden waste if its in one of the extortionately priced green bags that you have to purchase from the council! We put household waste in black bags that we have purchased - as cheaply as possible - ourselves, why not the same for green bags?? I don't actually expect the council to provide black/green bags, but I don't think its fair to stipulate that the only green bags they will take are the ones that I have been forced to purchase from them!!
  14. Do you know, Megilleland, I'm not so sure..... To me, when they say "existing site" I take it to mean where they are now.....if that IS the case, then it would appear that a complete refurbishment and upgrade programme, IS considered a possibility. (Something they have remained rather quiet about!) This report is dated 9 months ago....plenty of time, you would think, to have consulted the people of Hereford!
  15. Good Morning Posters!! Day 10 ......and over 3000 page views!! Incredible stuff! Thanks to everyone who has taken the trouble to read this thread, and/or leave a comment....it's very much appreciated!
  16. Hopefully we will not have to wait too long until Cllr Hubbard announces the date of the public meeting, and who is going to be invited to speak. There is literally only a few weeks until the April 14th meeting, so really the sooner the better!
  17. Well done Chris - you are a top bloke! I hope all your efforts are rewarded, and Rose Tinted Rags can stay put until suitable alternative premises can be found. Thanks for your help.
  18. Afternoon! Yes, there are many strands to this, some intertwined, some not so much! I have asked if a refurbishment of the current fire station is completely out of the question, but have not had a response about that point. I would hope that discussions can take place about alternative sites, but time is really not on our side.....I would like to think that given the interest this thread has generated that the public meeting Mark Hubbard is arranging will be well attended, and people take this opportunity to make their views known. My first concern is that The Boys Home is saved!!
  19. Aylestone Voice - have you heard back from your local councillor about sharing the email you were sent?? It would be great to have as many opinions as possible!
  20. Ah! The old General Hospital! They did a great job on this! Even the old Victoria Eye Hospital has been spared - and still looks beautiful as you walk past..... And look at what has been achieved at All Saints Church?? The old and the new, hand in hand.
  21. Afternoon Biomech! Right at the beginning of this thread, I said that even if you don't give two hoots about the building, the way in which this "deal" is being done should ring alarm bells! Those bells are obviously ringing in your head! With regard to The Boys Home, it was still being used as a functioning building up until a matter of days ago.....as a building of great historical local interest, I do believe it should be spared the bulldozers! With regard to the fire station....I don't begrudge them a new one, not at all....just think that other options for where it should be sited need to be considered. As I have said previously, there doesn't appear to be any joined up thinking around this. Lets gather all the facts, then and only then, can we make an informed decision about the fate of both of these buildings. I am hoping Mark Hubbards public meeting will give us that opportunity, and the veil of secrecy surrounding this will be lifted! By the way, the photo you posted??? The old Bulmers Woodpecker Club? I wouldn't be jumping up and down about that....but I honestly feel The Working Boys Home deserves better!!!
  22. Some excellent "council maths" going on there Grid Knocker! I see you have been paying attention in class!!
  23. One other thing, Mark...who will be speaking at the meeting, and will there be the opportunity to ask questions??
  24. Evening Mark! Brilliant news about the public meeting - I fear this is the only way that local people will be consulted and informed about this issue. Hi Jim, thanks for joining this discussion. Funnily enough, when I was discussing this thread last weekend, I actually said I was surprised you hadn't commented, as a resident and business owner. There are many aspects to take into consideration......but with all due respect to you, I cannot understand why folk feel we need another car park....particularly when charges are ever on the increase.Perhaps if parking was made cheaper and easier.....?? But that's for another topic!!
  25. Anyways! The bottle of red is empty! Speak to you all tomorrow no doubt!
