  1. Chortle chortle!! If I only had the technical ability!! I will have to rely on another, more computer literate poster, to do this deed!!
  2. Crikey! Over 1,000 page views, in just 4 days!! You folks are amazing! Thanks for all the support!
  3. Absolutely Aylestone Voice! My main concern is that there are still far too many people who are completely unaware of the planned fate of this building....when I mention this to folks, they are totally surprised. We need to really raise awareness as much as we possibly can.
  4. So - this is the 3/4 week pushback that Mark Hubbard spoke of in his post a few days ago. I am pleased that momentum seems to be gathering in the battle to keep this building.....just need to keep it up now! (Aylestone Voice, I initially thought you'd linked to Johns post....so thanks for providing this HT update on The Boys Home!)
  5. Aylestone Voice - Thanks so much! Very kind of you! Always makes life easier when there's a link you can visit directly!
  6. Don't you worry about going off on a tangent, John! I do it all the time....my mind wanders this way and that , I don't give it a second thought anymore!! I'll have a read through when I visit HT later on!
  7. Afternoon John! Really chuffed that you have joined this discussion! Thoughts, please on current events! ( Don't stress - I can't post links either!!)
  8. Wow! Over 700 page views! This subject is certainly creating a lot of interest! Please, if you can, spread the word about the proposed fate of this building. Time is not on our side, and we need as many folk as possible on board!
  9. Phew! That sounds a more practical and realistic figure Ragwert! Thanks for posting that info!
  10. Quite right too, Biomech! The bin is the best place for them! Of course, having thought about things, the other parking alternative is Rock field.....also known as the 6 million pound carpark!!
  11. Well, John Jarvis is one. We had a lengthy discussion a while back over at HT, over his wearing of two hats! He didn't seem to think there was a problem at all....many of us thought differently.
  12. Morning GDJ! If my memory serves me correctly, which it may or may not!!, I thought the plan to leave Blackfriars was initially BECAUSE of the new development, but that was a long time ago now, and many things have changed since then. Though at what point Blackfriars became a "redundant" building, I am not sure.
  13. I really wish that traffic warden worked in Hereford - using common sense AND initiative.....two very rare commodities these days!!
  14. I suppose one of the biggest issues Morrisons has, is folk parking here to avoid the extortionate parking fees at the hospital. Certainly this would explain there somewhat over zealous approach to car parking rules! The downside being that they are alienating their own customers. Most supermarkets have a two hour "rule", but as far as I am aware, Morrisons seem to be the heaviest handed when it comes to enforcing this.
  15. A stunning conversion, thanks for posting the link GK! Strange isn't it? Oxford take an old prison, and turn it into a beautiful hotel. Hereford builds a new prison, and attempts to make it into a shopping centre!
  16. Good ol' Liz! She really says it how it is! I have a lot of time for her - I wish she would sign up on here! She has also written another letter, which I have left a comment on, this week. If anybody has the inclination to cut and stick that one, its also worth reading.
  17. Hi Chris, thanks for posting. I think the point that perplexes both GDJ and myself, is knowing this building - which is a central and valuable resource - could be commandeered and occupied rent free, WHY the council allowed this to happen?? Surely it was worth hanging on to. From what I hear, Nelson House is having money spent on it, Plough Lane is STILL having money spent on it, and the staff who have moved into the media centre in Bath Street, are almost sitting on top of each other!! It just doesn't seem like joined up thinking!
  18. A brilliant letter from John Faulkener, I hope it has the desired effect and brings this matter to the attention of as many folk as possible. Thanks for posting it here Megilleland. In no other city, would a building such as this be quietly disposed of and demolished...it would,t happen in York, or Oxford....blimey,it doesn't even happen in Hay on Wye - where the Cheese Market is set to reopen soon, after a much needed facelift. I was up last weekend, and its looking stunning. There has not been a single comment on here that doesn't agree this building should be saved.....quite an achievement for us lot to agree about anything!!
  19. Once again Megilleland, you have come up trumps! There would appear to be no limit to the amount of hats Geoff Hughes wears - both officially and unofficially. We could start a thread just about which of his fingers are in what pies.....it would be a not inconsiderable list!
  20. Incidentally, what you are prepared to accept, and what you find difficult to understand.......could not agree more! Particularly when you say that 3 non residents of Hereford should have the final say on this matter! I am sure that other posters will have plenty to say!
  21. Absolutely Mark! And thanks for the prompt reply!
  22. Hi Mark, a huge thankyou for responding. It sounds to me as if you have been kept in the dark along with the rest of us, which is what I understood had happened. What time frame are they working to, do you know? The lack of any sort of consultation, as you have quite rightly pointed out, is nothing short of a disgrace. Again, I do appreciate you taking the time to comment on here! My warmest regards. Most excellent email, by the way...thanks for sharing with us!
  23. Afternoon Aylestone Voice! Oh absolutely - I am not trying to ambush him into responding, I am genuinely interested to hear his view as ward councillor. I usually find the comments he posts to be full and frank replies, so I am hoping he will comment on this thread. I would just like to hear his take on the situation that we seem to find ourselves in.
  24. Well....progress! I see Mark has read this thread! Thankyou for taking the time, I realise you are a very busy person. Hopefully now that you have caught up on this discussion, you will maybe contribute your thoughts...??? I would really appreciate it, many thanks in anticipation of a response...!!
  25. Polite message sent!! Once again....we wait!!
