Would that be The Horse and Groom, Ubique? Sometimes referred to as "The Doom and Gloom"......can't think why......!!!

Hereford Futures - Council does not hold board papers

Meanwhile....back over at HT headquarters....I see Bobby has had a personal response from Pat Morgan on the fortnightly bin collection thread.....she is yet to reply to my concerns!! -
There are folk who log in, yet never leave a comment, on absolutely any subject, as far as I can see. Perhaps in order to wield the red button, you should actually be taking part in the discussion.....!!

Parking tickets! Grrrr!! I live in White cross, not a million miles from Plough Lane, our road is predominantly street parking. The earliest we have had a parking ticket is 7.05am. My other half works shifts, and regularly has to stay up after a night shift, until a parking space free from double yellows becomes available!! Not a happy bunny!

Hereford Futures - Council does not hold board papers
dippyhippy replied to twowheelsgood's topic in Open Forum
Two Wheels, the story has been reinstated on HT. Whatever the issue earlier, it appears to have been resolved, and comments are still enabled. I have no idea what happened this afternoon. There are three Hereford Futures stories up, I commented on two of them, then as you say, this one was pulled for a while. Somebody somewhere, trying to pull the plug.....?? -
Evening Roger! Yes, budgets are being slashed across the country - the point I was attempting to make - probably quite badly! - was that other authorities seem to spend money and have something worthwhile to show for it, and ours.....well, need I say more.....??

Old Market Hereford

Very interesting article Megilleland ,thanks for posting the link. Spot on Two Wheels, I bet those words most definitely didn't pass his lips! Hi Roger, yes I remember the "little" Tesco in town, it had an upstairs....and no lift as I recall!- 185 replies

Oh my. That Literary path looks absolutely amazing. Quite beautiful in fact. When was the last time any of us could say that about a new addition to Herefords city scape. Why can other cities get it so right - and we consistently get it so wrong?

Biomech, I shall use my button press to bring you back up! I shall also press up magic roundabout, because I think they were being ironic in their post!

Asset transfer and stripping for the public good?
dippyhippy replied to megilleland's topic in Open Forum
Good point Denise - it should be encouraged more. At one point, the council were actively tracking down owners or landlords of empty properties, and offering them a deal. The council made the house habitable, and the owner signed the building over on a long term lease. The council placed tenants in the property, and the landlord got a guaranteed rental income. Haven't heard of this scheme being implemented anywhere recently, so can only assume it's ended due probably to lack of funds. Anybody else heard of this or similar schemes? -
It's just plain ugly. Grid Knocker, I do believe there should be some sort of commemorative plaque, listing the names of the great and the good, who have foisted this brick faced monster upon us - so that we never, ever forget who is responsible, for what will surely go down in Hereford City's history, as one of the biggest mistakes ever made. We shall not forget them......!

Well spotted Roger! The camera never lies!

Heard a rumour that Hunkydory in Church Street is also to close. It's a shame. A lovely little place with very friendly and polite staff. The friend who mentioned this to me after visiting the shop last weekend, said the sales staff reported a pretty imminent closure.

Asset transfer and stripping for the public good?
dippyhippy replied to megilleland's topic in Open Forum
Probably Megilleland. They appear to have no interest in this building, other than making a quick buck. It's criminal. Affordable housing is needed within the city, that's a fact they cannot deny. The Shirehall, which is currently undergoing it's two million pround refurbishment, is to be their new home...so I am guessing Brockington will be one of the next to be sold...or transferred to become part of a University.....who knows, I am beginning to lose track of exactly what they want to do..... -
Asset transfer and stripping for the public good?

I just didn't get it, when I read this article. Do they visualise a University being set up on multiple sites?? I think a uni is a great idea...it would have been perfectly situated just about where Debenhams is!! -
Twelve times two is thirty eight, Nine take five is three. Now I can do council maths, I'm happy as can be! Blimey - it's such fun when you get going! In council maths there's no such thing as a wrong answer....as long as you've got the right explanation! Simple!

Why is it, that smaller places such as Led bury and Hay, look so very much cleaner? I can't see that they have significantly more funds - probably much less. Are they just more "houseproud" than us slovenly Herefordians, and take more pride in where they live? Which company are tasked with the job of keeping these towns so neat and tidy? Surely it can't be the same one?? Although I guess in the case of Led bury, it must be.

Yes, I completely agree. I was up there on the weekend and it's beyond dangerous. How cyclists and motorcyclists manage to navigate around our roads in general, is beyond me...I certainly wouldn't like to try. I used to cycle a lot, but have done this less and less over the past 5 years or so. Cycling around Hereford needs to be classified as an extreme sport!
-
Well, I'm very pleased to hear that! Your writing style is unique and completely inimitable - never change it!!
-
Bobby, I fear you are being a little hard on yourself! There was no mention of The Lugg, or even nettles in your response.....I actually thought you showed great restraint.....for you!!!
-
I've just remembered my other pet gripe....chewing gum! Or rather the discarding of chewed gum onto the floor - disgusting! This should be added to the list of things which should receive an on the spot fine of £10.00! Add this to littering, cycling on pavements and spitting in the street....they all drive me nuts!
-
Please Sir, please Mr. GDJ, Please pick me to answer the council maths question! I have studied very hard since my disappointing test results.....is the answer...b??? I think I may be finally getting the hang of it!

Asset transfer and stripping for the public good?

I see that Black friars is still on the list of council property. They have now vacated this and The Robert Owen School are moving in. Anybody know what financial arrangements have been made for this? -
It reminds me of that old story..... The Problem. Everybody knew there was a problem. Every body thought that Somebody would sort it out. Nobody wanted to take responsibility for it, but Everybody realised the problem wasn't going to be resolved unless Somebody took the lead. Anybody could have offered, but in the end Nobody did. The problem is still there, and Everybody is losing out!! Or something like that.....!!
