  1. I fear we may have to agree to disagree on this one! I honestly feel that both time and effort would be better spent on projects that ARE likely to happen. For many reasons, I don't think this one ever will!
  2. With respect, we aren't Bristol, or Cardiff! Where would you suggest this money is going to come from?
  3. A small victory then, eh Will....???!!!!!
  4. Yes Harry, it was Two Wheels post that I was thinking about when I stuck my two pence worth in! When you think that neither Maylords, nor indeed Tesco, are going to want a footbridge that will inevitably take shoppers AWAY from them....then that pretty much removes all options for "connecting". So that leaves.....well, a bridge!! Which just won't work! (Apologies to whomever gave me the red vote, no offence is ever meant in any of my posts, unless you happen to be called Patricia Morgan!)
  5. Well.....she hasn't yet,but on the plus side, young Ben Proctor popped onto the forum to ask if he could be of any assistance, then promptly disappeared again! Oh well...there's always tomorrow!!
  6. And hellooooo to you to Steve!! I take your point as I said, I do think some restrictions could be lifted to ensure these buildings can be a part of the 21st century...but going back to Biomechs point, which I was agreeing with, how come York, Stratford upon Avon and Oxford ,to name but a few, can protect, preserve and embrace these buildings, recognise them for what they are,yet here in Hereford we seem to be of the opinion that it's all too much trouble? If you want new, look no further than the OLM-bland,ugly and hardly a tourist attraction. The demise of High Town began long before the fire at River Island .It began with the idea that The Edgar Street Grid project was going to be the answer to all our prayers.
  7. But surely the "footbridge" would need to be a ramp, if its to be accessible to all?? Think about the gradient.....it would have to go on...and on...and on....!!!! Surely the shared space idea is more pedestrian friendly for the able and not so able bodied???
  8. Completely agree Biomech. What we have is heritage - we have a duty to protect it. Otherwise, you could say well what's the point of the up keep of the Cathedral?? Or the Black and White trail?? Or the Black and White House?? These beautiful buildings are one of the reason tourists come to Hereford. I do think it should be easier to make improvements to Listed Buildings, but they need to be saved/protected for future generations.
  9. Yes, K.Butt! I like it too - there are many features I really like about this site! Do not apologise for posting something "small, and possibly pointless" this description covers most of my input, and I don't let it stop me!!
  10. I've posted a few questions for Patricia - I shall give it a few hours to see if she responds....!! (Not holding my breath though!)
  11. I honestly can't see a footbridge being the answer. How is it going to serve the needs of the elderly, the disabled, or mums with buggies/prams?? I just don't think it ticks enough boxes, access wise! The subways weren't great - but at least everybody could use them!!
  12. Thanks for doing this Megilleland, much appreciated!
  13. Councillor Liz Harvey, has posted a really informative comment about this subject on the HT thread concerning this story. If someone with the technical know how could cut and stick it on here, it would be a good read for everybody interested!!
  14. Yes, I was a tad confused when I read this, as I thought this was already pretty high on the agenda!!
  15. Absolutely agree with Simon - this is madness pure and simple.
  16. I am not asking this to be awkward -I honestly would like to know. ( I walk/cycle just about everywhere locally, come wind ,rain, sleet or snow! and would welcome it being a lot safer!) The bypass issue, I don't pretend to understand all the figures relating to the movement of traffic, in coming, through, etc. but obviously folk with a much bigger brain than mine have determined this. I'm not arguing with the numbers - just the logic, as in how come Leominster has got one?? And Ledbury?? And Ross?? Surely they don't have as much traffic as Hereford??
  17. Bobby, I simply can't believe this is true - if you really don't want to be featured on Positive Hereford, you just had to say. I'm sure that nice Mr Nenadich would completely understand!
  18. I have no idea what he thinks I have secreted away beneath my poncho - a crusty baguette and an iceberg lettuce perhaps, I haven't a clue! But I can assure him now, no item has ever been hidden beneath my poncho and left the store without being paid for!!
  19. I think Jims intention is to set a date in the New Year!
  20. You are not alone in being on the receiving end of pitying glances whilst in the supermarket John, I endure this regularly whilst attempting to use the self service till. And should the security guard from Sainsbury's be reading this - I wear a poncho, a very nice one,(hand knitted and fairly traded) I am not a shoplifter and I do not appreciate being trailed up and down the aisles!!! This also attracts glances - but of the highly suspicious variety!!
  21. Thoughts??? I couldn't type my thoughts on this, Colin would ban me! This absolutely stinks to high heaven! Its precisely this sort of wheeler dealing, shady back room agreements, you scratch my back I'll scratch yours attitude, that has brought about the opinion that this council can't be trusted. Its also not a million miles away from the IT issues highlighted on the "You don't deserve Democracy" thread. Its plain wrong.
  22. Can't say fairer than that Glenda!!
  23. Unless I have misheard this, just now on the radio it said Worcester was definitely pushing forward with this, despite intense opposition. Does this mean we are now also committed to this project??
  24. If there is more funding available from central government, then surely it makes financial sense to have this information? Or am I being a bit simplistic.?? Do landlords not have a duty to know who is living in their properties? I have to say, cramming folk into houses like that is appalling - its no way to live. Certainly its not how people would choose to live ,I'm sure. Life is such a struggle for so many these days, and there really are no quick fixes.
  25. Errrr. I just tried, but distracted by an argument between Nick Tilsley and his mum Gail, on Corrie, something went horribly wrong! Will try again one day!
