  1. Whatever floats your boat...... .....or mows your lawn! It's always good to hear from new members!
  2. Blimey. This isn't a great ad for their customer service, is it??? Perhaps in the interim, you could borrow Roger's hedge trimmer, and he could borrow your mower?!!! At least then your gardens would still be tidy! Welcome to Hereford Voice!
  3. Evening AV. It was me, on the Freedom Church thread, lamenting the fact that my best blogging buddies are conspicuous by their absence . I really do miss them. They added an awful lot to Hereford Voice, and this forum is poorer for losing their regular contributions. Quite a few members, who were so quick to stick their two pence worth in over that particular episode, have barely posted a word since. We appear to have lost Bobby, Flam and Paul in one fell swoop.... and Ubique, GDJ and Biomech are missing in action. All posters who took the time to add their thoughts regularly, and helped to make this forum vibrant. A real shame, and a great loss.
  4. Well. I've visited this establishment over the weekend...... Fantastic! I shall be visiting again very soon! The veggie pizza was absolutely delicious, and the surroundings were wonderful. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and laid back. I really loved this place, and can't recommend it highly enough! Give it a try, you'll be glad you did!
  5. I've had to read this twice. Over FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS in tithes/donations, yet only FOUR of those millions spent on helping those that need it. The rest is ploughed back into the organisation. Someone's doing rather nicely out of all those 10%'s....
  6. I miss him on here. And Flam. And Paul. And Biomech. Where on earth has he disappeared to???? Even Ubique has been quiet of late. It's just not the same with half of the Mendacious Oddities going AWOL.
  7. Thanks for that, Megilleland. The Design and Access Statement makes for an interesting read.
  8. He'll never succumb, Denise! Never! Not Our Bobby!
  9. According to the link at the top of this thread, this family had had a discussion about de-registering their child, and were advised by the council not to do that. It would seem to me that they followed this advice, thinking it was the best option. Well done on finding the original story, Roger...... you're a much better cyber sleuth than me!
  10. I'm not sure if any precedent was set, but within the last year there was a couple who took their children on the trip of a lifetime all around South America, Chile, Bolivia etc. It was covered in The Hereford Times, and I remember commenting on the story, saying what an incredible thing to be able to experience as a family. The memories made on that trip will last a lifetime.
  11. What really concerns me is it's close proximity to The Commercial......! Look out Bobby, they may have their eye on our watering hole!
  12. Completely agree, Roger. You'll get no argument from me on that point!
  13. After reading this, I can only say that the council appear to be using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Their stance seems to be completely disproportionate. I'd say that the trip Hazel's parents took her on, sounds like an amazing educational experience. Why can't a little common sense be applied in situations such as this? To my mind, a three week excursion like this should be no reason to be penalised, if the nine year old child otherwise regularly attends school. Much more of an issue, is regular absenteeism, and parents not being punctual in getting their child to school. This can often cause a lot more disruption to a students education, than a one off block.
  14. Many thanks for posting, Glenda. So basically, the decisions made prior to the election with regard to seeing the back of the cabinet system have now been vetoed?? No longer on the agenda?? That sounds about right. As long as this cabinet system continues, we will continue to have the same issues we have had before.....a handful of folks calling the shots. It's not what I would call a democracy, and yes, we only have conservative voters to blame, they obviously want another four years of the same.
  15. It's a very slick organisation, I'll give them that. They'll be offering work experience placements next.......
  16. What a miserable, rainy day....come back sunshine!!

  17. Good Grief, Denise! We're now in June.....and you still haven't noticed!!

  18. Glad we're not the only ones who see this as an issue! Let's hope their request is successful.
  19. Astro turf???? Me and AV are full of good ideas today, Roger!
  20. I recall asking a similar question quite some time ago. Another poster, I think it was Aylestone Voice (and apologies if it wasn't) replied that if a councillor has any particular knowledge or business interest, they are immediately steered away from that area, because of potential conflict of interest. All well and good, but we end up with councillors sitting on committees and voting on issues that they just do not have a sound understanding of. Surely if councillors were up front, honest and had integrity, we should be able to benefit from any expertise that they may have?? With regard to getting onto a committee.... folks are nominated, then there is a vote. With the Cons and Independents snuggling up to each other again, there's not much hope of IOC getting anything with teeth.( Liz Harvey and Alan Seldon were quite a formidable duo on the scrutiny committee....... so that pairing has gone!)Although I do believe the numbers on committees have to be proportional to each parties number of councillors. I'm sure others can explain it better!
  21. Blimey! That does seem a bit pricey...... and the customer service sounds like it leaves an awful lot to be desired....! Have you thought about investing in a goat??? They do a brilliant job of keeping your lawn down, and are good company too!
  22. Brilliant, GK! Good work there!
  23. "Our new Hereford location"????? Good grief! It sounds as though they are pretty confident that this is a done deal.......
