  1. Can anybody tell me where we are up to, in this process of ridding ourselves of this horrendous cabinet system??? Now that the election has been and gone, we still have the same self serving buffoons in the cabinet, plus a few newbies thrown in for good measure...... Nothing has changed. I thought it was merely a matter of time before a new, fairer system was brought in...... and yet..... nothing is happening. Perhaps it's time to have another push on the petition...." No Confidence In Herefordshire Council Cabinet"? Surely we cannot continue to allow seven folks to make all the major decisions around here???
  2. Does anybody in the council cabinet actually realise that Herefordshire is a rural, farming community??? These farms are incredibly important and valuable assets. They are also pound signs in some folks eyes. Greedy, grasping and desperate for a quick fix and a fast buck. It will be nothing short of shameful, if these farms are sold off, and the tenant farmers booted out.
  3. Brilliant Slim! :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Those brass letters were never going to last long...... We have so many skilled crafts people and stone masons in this county, why couldn't we have had the stones engraved properly, like they have done with the edging kerb stones around The Cathedral? Aesthetically, it would look so much better...... and would also stand the test of time! High Town smells???? Church Street, as you go up, between High Town and The Grapes is just awful!
  4. Peter Robinson has been appointed to the Director of Resources post. Salary....£98,000.00. Following a very costly nationwide search, the council have given the job to someone who already works for them. He was, apparently, the "unanimous" choice. Shortlisting for the post was delegated to Geoff "the man of many hats" Hughes. The search has only cost tax payers £36,300.00. To find someone who was already an employee ....... This makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.
  5. Strangely enough, I heard a conversation today regarding this place. The folks discussing it said the food was fabulous, but the service appalling! Looks like they could do with some customer service training!
  6. Somebody has written a letter asking for a time extension, because of all the documents which need to be read. I'm in the same boat as Cloudberry, on this little notebook think, I don't think I would be able to open/download them all, without something crashing, and "a fatal error has occurred" appearing on my screen...... again! In response to your other comment, Green Knight, yes, I have lodged an on line objection. It's not showing yet. We had similar issues when we were getting objections in about The Working Boys Home...... they were running 2/3 weeks behind. (And Cloudberry, they saw fit to tarmac over The Rotherwas Ribbon, they really don't care much for heritage or history, it would appear......)
  7. Blimey! A bit like buses. You wait an age for one, then two arrive at the same time!
  8. Wow! Colin that is a breathtakingly beautiful image. We are all so very lucky to live in such an amazing corner of the world.
  9. Tommy, you're a gentleman! Many thanks for indulging my curiosity!
  10. Evening Tommy, many thanks for the response! Could I just ask a few more questions?? How long did you attend? Were you invited by anybody to attend?? And was there any "follow up" when you decided that it wasn't for you?? (I know, I know..... I'm a nosey so and so! Feel free not to answer any/all, I shan't mind!)
  11. You're so welcome, Twiglet! I hope to hear lots more from you!
  12. Six representations now showing. Including one from PROW - public rights of way. They have NO objection to this scheme, "Providing the necessary diversions are carried out, as stated in the Design and Access Statement."
  13. Sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine! What's not to like????

  14. I read that six staff have lost their jobs. Three have already found alternative employment, but three others haven't. I wish them well in their job seeking, and hope they find something soon. Being out of work is a huge worry.
  15. Hi Tommy, could I possibly pick your brain??? In an earlier post, you mentioned that you had attended Freedom Church a few times, could you tell me the reasons why you decided it wasn't for you? I completely understand if you want to tell me to mind my own business, but I am curious! Hope you don't mind me asking???
  16. Hi Paul, as you're coming into town, it's at the bottom of Aylestone Hill, on the left hand side..... the corner of Rockfield Road. There are railings on the perimeter leading up to the little railway bridge. Hope this helps you visualise where it is! I believe one of the companies who had a compulsory purchase order are being relocated here..... something to do with gardening machinery/mowers I think!
  17. I always think that the most interesting threads are the ones with lots of contributors..... makes for a more diverse and interesting read. I'm glad you've posted on here, Paul!
  18. Beautiful picture, Twiglet - thanks for posting that. And welcome to Hereford Voice!
  19. I know the older gentleman who used to sweep the streets has gone. The subway between Whitecross Road and Eign Gate, is absolutely disgusting most days.
  20. "Plant a new church". That's an interesting phrase to use. Very.... Freedom Churchesque, if you don't mind me saying so!
  21. Too right! I've posted previously about the importance of shop fronts/displays as well. The old Chadds building looks horrendous with stuff piled up on the pavement and racks of hi-viz jackets! A good clean and tidy, a washing of windows and a bit more care taken of window dressing , could all be done cheaply and easily, and would improve the "kerb appeal" of High Town no end. It would have a very positive impact on city dwellers and tourists alike, who visit Our City!
  22. I'll not disagree with you on your last point, Tommy! It's always good to hear the views of new members, I'm glad you're getting stick in to the debates!
  23. Five representations now showing, including one from Hereford City Council. A Wednesday is a much better evening to hold a meeting on, and a great, central location. I'm sure that this, along with a bit of publicity will generate much more interest.
  24. There are some fabulous photo's of High Town in the seventies on I think it's Old Hereford Pics, which my other half showed me the other week. It looks far better and cleaner then, than it does now! (Even with cars still driving past the Old House!) And yes, there were trees! A bit of urban greenery makes the world of difference. It softens the landscape no end, and provides shade, when we eventually get some decent weather! The seating also needs to be looked at. Those metal slatted benches in Eign Gate are the most uncomfortable I've ever sat on...... very unforgiving on the derriere! I don't dislike the Children's ride, to be honest, I hadn't noticed that it squeaks! But it perhaps would be better sighted slightly further away from the al fresco coffee carts!
  25. Hello again Tommy, A few of us who are looking into this, are looking at how New Springs Church in America are funded as they are contributing significant amounts of money to Freedom Church. We are very careful to only put on the thread information which is backed up by facts and figures! As and when we uncover more, we'll post it. It does seem to me a bit like a pyramid system, where those at the top of the pile are doing very nicely thankyou. I have no issue with the members lower down the food chain who obviously attend because they enjoy what's on offer. I do have issues with how these members are recruited though, and the positions held by some who appear to be doing the recruiting. I'm also concerned about the pre election leaflets which were distributed by Freedom Church. They appear to be trying to use their influence in ways I don't think a "church" should. Another reason why I perceive them to be more of a business, than anything else. (There is a link to this discussion on post number 136, page 5 of this thread..... well worth a read through!) Believe me, if it was just about religion, I would not have a problem!
