Hello there, Tommy! Welcome to Hereford Voice. Thanks for commenting on this thread. What I would say is that this thread, and indeed Colin's which is linked to this, do contain facts. An awful lot of facts..... which is why it is so alarming. If the content of this thread was merely gossip and title tattle, I'm sure not many would be concerned. But having read the facts... and believe me, there is much more..... folks are really starting to have their eyes opened. It's not a church, in my opinion. It's a business. And a profitable one at that.

Strangely, I've just put down a few ideas on the "Here's how our urban streets should look" thread! Improved cycle routes, safe routes to school, walking bus, and what about an edge of city car park for students at the college, with a regular bus running between it and the colleges? This could be partly funded by the colleges themselves and perhaps a permit system, for the students to use this facility?? The Tram Plan.... move it forward with a feasibility study. These are all relatively small, cost effective things which have the potential to make a huge difference. Let's give folk choices... at the moment, they don't really have alternatives. If half the folks who drive, left the car behind for half of their journeys across the city, this would have a very positive impact!

I think many of the answers lie within this very thread, Cambo. Implement the small, relatively cheap changes first. Improving cycle routes, bringing in safe routes to school and walking buses, etc. Also an initiative like edge of the East of the city parking, for college students with a regular bus, perhaps partly funded by the colleges themselves and also student permits to use this park/ride facility??? Look seriously at The Tram Plan, with a feasibility study. Once folks can see there are options, they may well prefer to leave the car at home, for at least some of their journeys. Add in the possibility of a second, Eastern river crossing, and you start to have the potential to really make a mark on the congested roads across our city. -
I'm very surprised that the spokesperson for the new university hasn't issued some sort of statement about these premises. So many folks have been under the impression that this site had been earmarked for their use. I'm hoping that this isn't because they are hand in glove with Freedom Church..... Perhaps an email seeking clarification as to whether they have ever been offered these premises might be an idea??

Oh thanks, Megilleland! I was beginning to think I'd dreamt it! You know me, the line between dream and reality has always been a bit of a blur at the best of times! -
I don't think we can count on it either, Pete. Knowing how extensive and well placed their membership seems to be, my concerns are growing by the day.

Interesting Two Wheels! I checked her Linked In profile after reading your link. It states that from May 2012 until present, she is director at Sharon Menghini - Education And Children's Services Consultancy..... Worcester. (A little too close for my liking.....) It also states that from December 2012 until present, she is Chief Executive at Talking Trust..... Bexhill on Sea, which fits nicely with your link! What a very busy person.... -

Cambo's suggestion of a congestion charge on this thread, seems to have caught on. BBC Hereford and Worcester, have apparently made mention of this.... although I can't find it! Anybody else heard this??? -
Herefordshire Council has created a new £90,000 a year role

Correct Jim. She left Hereford for Stoke. Previously she'd been at Shropshire, Dudley and Newport. She then took her pay out, and set up her own little consultancy business ....... Nice work if you can get it. -
The HT are reporting that there will be a re run of two parish elections, Saxon gate and Newton near Leominster, because of voting irregularities. But were these the only ones?? We already have folks saying they were given incorrect information at Widemarsh and Redhill. Have these been looked into?? What about the Freedom Church leaflet promoting a candidate? Has this been investigated?? If folks are to have any faith, all of these issues need to be seen to be being examined very carefully.

Indeed, Jim. Anybody else remember Sharon Menghini, and the infamous schools closure programme??? Not a pleasant episode in Hereford's educational history..... -
Hi Cloudberry, I do that loop walk on quite a regular basis! Leaving from Whitecross, down to the river walk, follow it along to Breinton, up onto Kings Acre Road, then back down to Whitecross! It's beautiful! I'm amazed more folks don't seem to use it. Whenever I bump into people walking, they are usually visitors to Our County! Perhaps many don't appreciate what's right on their doorsteps?? Still only three representations showing today..... but I was able to open all three! Let's hope plenty more objections are submitted.

Well said, Adrian! Let's keep Balfour Beatty well away..... there will be carnage! Given the choice between a noisy, dirty, polluted road.... and a vista of beautiful old trees, I certainly know which option I'd prefer! As another poster has already pointed out, they should get the sun around the back in their gardens for quite a lot of the day. I live in a Victorian terraced street, where the roads are narrow and many houses three storey. Our living rooms are dark during the day! The houses may not be of the highest architectural standard.... but they ARE an improvement on what was there before! I'm sure the residents are pleased with their new homes, and hopefully will appreciate the beauty of these magnificent trees every time they open their curtains! I know I would!

Quite unbelievable isn't it, Pete? HCC.... 'We have a vacancy.....errr, what do we do??' Option A. Advertise it. Option B. Pay out thousands of pounds for a recruitment agency who suggest..... Advertising it. Beyond ridiculous. Nice to see that the ever present Geoff Hughes was delegated the task of shortlisting. That part of the job obviously wasn't included in the £60,000 that recruitment experts WME seem to have charged for their "services"......... -
It would indeed Jimbo. I honestly feel we can do better apart. We can negotiate our own trade agreements with Europe. Norway has access to the EU market, yet isn't bound by their rules and regulations. It's worked well for them, why not us??

Afternoon Dan! I'm pretty sure that Colin appealed his ticket to POPLA, was successful, and that was the end of the matter! I have to say, I'd be nervous if letters like that arrived addressed to me!
-
Blimey! Two wonderful, helpful people! Thanks Cambo! It makes sense to have all information on one thread!
-
Denise, thanks! You're an absolute star!
-
Hi Ragwert, that second quote is from Perry Noble..... the guy who heads up New Springs Church, and who has donated an awful lot of money to Freedom Church. I used that very same quote on page one, of this thread... post number 22! He doesn't come across as being - how shall I put this - very..... progressive? Does he?? He has a lot of influence on Freedom Church. I believe they often stream his sermons...... Nice.
-
Cheers Dan! You're a star! Survey completed..... that didn't take long!
-
Hi Denise! You're handy with links....any chance you could do the honours??? This thread seems to be attracting lots of views tonight.... it would be great if all the interested folks could access both of the threads covering this subject!
-
Well, I missed that completely! They should contact Colin.... Hereford Voice would do a much better job of advertising it!
-
Is it possible for someone to add a link to the "Freedom Church.... Hereford Candidate" thread, that Colin started??? So that all the information is easily available in one place???? Thank you!!
-
This site is literally a stones throw from their current Conningsby Street premises. There is very little parking there. No doubt they will park wherever they usually do, then nip across the graveyard, and under John Venn's Arch.
-
Ah! Thanks for that, Denise! I thought I recalled a link between the two. Gosh. Isn't this all getting complicated?? All of these companies, all of these folks, all of these " coincidences"....... Good job I'm not suspicious by nature.......
