Gosh... all these Conservative "Johnson" candidates...... James, Jon and Tony. Although Tony is confusingly referred to as Tony Jackson on the Hereford Conservatives web page.... perhaps they are struggling not to get muddled up as well!
-
An interesting clarification there from young James. Not quite as interesting though, as reading his thoughts on the Education Maintenance Allowance. How on earth do some people meet the criteria to stand.....???

Good Grief, Chris! You must be psychic! I was thinking pretty much the same thing myself! C'mon you, lot...... get posting and tell us your intentions please! -
Still only been there once.

Try Nutters, up Church Street, or Rocket a bit further up, towards The Cathedral. Both brilliant! -
Indeed! Welcome Ben, good to have you here! I recognise that name??? Andy Liquorice...... maybe from the Saturday music café sessions at The Courtyard???? Back to the fair...... Candy floss and carousel..... that's just perfect for me!

My goodness me. How the plot thickens. This simply has to be more than coincidence, doesn't it???

Hi Ubique, I think a lot of the flooding issues stem from the brook, I mentioned in my earlier post. Some alleviation work has taken place..... but it still gets pretty soggy around there! Whitecross is a bit of an oddity now. When it was built, there was much talk of the building being as much used by the community as by the students. I seem to recall reading quite recently, that various uses of the school in the evening, were to be curtailed to reduce overheads.

Any word from the other parties?? -
Definitely West, Denise.... this is just up the road from me. Isn't this the plan to build on the Huntingdon Lane fields??? The proposal would see a sort of infill of housing between Three Elms, Kings Acre and the new cattle market? And aren't they also saying there will be some sort of Park and Ride..... but without a park and ride lane???? The Yazor brook runs through these fields, before going under Three Elms Road and carrying on down the Ash Path, all the way down to the back of Bulmers, and then towards the city.

Hi Adrian.... I'm afraid you have missed it for this year. It was held on Saturday May 2nd, which was the day before yesterday.

I'm very interested to hear any response to this! Will it be down to the individual whether they accept, or will it be a party decision? However it's decided..... will we know who has chosen to accept or decline? -
An admin error has shown that Councillors in Hereford have missed out on two pay increases over the last four years. They will be reimbursed. Public sector workers have had a pay freeze for years, with a paltry 1% agreed for last year. Many have struggled to make ends meet, with an increase in unofficial working hours....(unpaid overtime) and the worry of losing their jobs altogether, as one restructuring follows another. (Just to make clear, I'm referring to front line workers here, not the highly paid, who left with thousands, and sometimes walked straight back into another highly paid role.) Will Councillors accept this "back pay"???

Perspectives are deeply personal, I feel Alex. Our perspective, on something, can be as unique as each individual. I can't agree that the tree demonstrations were OTT.....I actually found the wrapping of these trees in hand knitted scarves quite beautiful, poignant even. I'm not one for prayers and candles, but if folk chose that way to express the sadness and futility they felt, then I would absolutely defend their right to do that. One thing we are definitely in agreement on though, we most certainly do not live in an ideal world! Let's take a chance, when one is offered, to try and make it a little better, for everybody. I hope you have a lovely bank holiday tomorrow.... and let's hope that the sun shines brightly on us all! Take care. -

Thanks for responding Alex. The symbolic expressions which you so eloquently described, were just that..... expressions. They didn't hurt anybody, they didn't cause distress, and they didn't cost the taxpayer any money. I'm all for progress, but surely as we only have one planet, we should at the very least try to look after it?? If it takes a little more time, a little more effort, or costs, in the short term, a little more money, don't we have a duty to try these options first? Long term, not only will we benefit, but our children and grandchildren. -

Evening Alex! I realise not everybody will feel as strongly about The Edgar Street Trees as I, and many others did. I am pleased that some were saved, in my opinion, with a little more planning over how far across the OLM would be built, there would have been no reason to have lost any of them. That aside, and without wanting to go over old ground, it was the way that this was done, which really sticks in my throat. Underhanded and deceitful, are two words that spring to mind! There may only be a few survivors, but if these were ever under threat again, I would happily get knitting to adorn them with scarves once again! I absolutely believe that amongst the myriad of benefits trees bring, they positively improve the aesthetics of any stretch of grey road, making for a much more pleasant environment for all. Each to their own! -

Two weeks ago, I was in the middle of The Newmarket Street crossing. A visually impaired lady with a white stick was standing opposite, also waiting to cross. The traffic was nose to tail, the lights changed, with the crossing space completely blocked. The lady stepped out, swishing her stick from side to side. Her stick hit a car..... and he tooted his horn. Beyond belief. I gave him such a filthy look, and mouthed the words.." Bloody idiot." at him..... he looked away. What on earth he was thinking, I simply do not know. -

I hold my hands up, Two Wheels.....I know nothing about traffic data reports and Highway Agencies recommendations......I don't understand it!! All I know is, it's got to be better to try the simple remedies first, before moving onto the more complicated and costly ones. Perhaps I'm over simplifying things.... but I've always been the first to say, I'm a simple soul! -
Steady Bobby! Surely we need to convene an extraordinary meeting of The Mendacious Oddities at The Commercial, before we approve your bid to infiltrate Snowzells inner sanctum??? A risk assessment at the very least??? I wouldn't like to think of you infiltrating, without taking the necessary precautions first!
-
Possibly! I'd love to be a fly on the wall if it did!
-
Not quite as easy as people may think, Bobby.....Invitation only! Or pre book, for a meet and greet...... they are none too keen on folks just turning up!

Hi Two Wheels. This is kind of where I am with it. I posted - number 55 - that to trial some of the smaller, cost effective options first, would surely be a sensible step to take. There really isn't much to lose by doing this. Traffic, and the do we need a bypass/don't we need a bypass discussion has gone on for many, many years. Would one more year make a difference? And that could be the banner under which these small but significant changes are rolled out....." One Year To Make A Difference!" If after a trial, folks hadn't seen positive changes, then look again. My concern is once the road is built - it's built. No going back. Let's try the less "invasive" options first, and move forward from there??? Maybe thinking about a road solution, ahead of trialling a combination of these other options, would really be a case of putting the cart before the horse?? I would most definitely be prepared to do this in the first instance, rather than plump straight for an option which once done, could never be undone. (And I just love fluffy kittens!) -
You're cooking on gas tonight, Bobby! Hilarious!

Evening Roger! If this was your ward, your prospective councillor and your vote, I think you'd perhaps see it as an issue. People need to know what's going on here.
