  1. Ah, Aylestone Voice! You are correct..... my feelings on the OLM are quite well known! Had I have been in town....and who knows, there is time yet.....I would have taken Green Knight up on his kind offer, of a High Town Latte.....! In a perfect world, I would always opt for Nutters courtyard for a quiet coffee, and a smoke...... however, local business versus chain is for another thread, and I would not be that churlish when Green Knight has made such a lovely gesture!
  2. It's ridiculous. Local radio have just said that it's awful right across the city, with queuing traffic on Roman Road, Whitecross Road, Belmont Road, Ross Road and Aylestone Hill. So basically if you're attempting to either get through, or get into town..... they'll be a significant delay. Thank goodness it's not May Fair week!
  3. Reports that traffic across Hereford is horrendous..... the lights are out of sync. Balfour Beatty are apparently on the case....They ask for our patience!
  4. Looks good! Lets hope the sun's out on Saturday!
  5. Oh Green Knight! What a lovely gesture! It's Sods Law that I'm not in town this week! But what a thoughtful thing to do!
  6. Evening Dazza. Blimey. If that's what he has been saying on the door steps, I'm not surprised you're cross! Glad to hear the situation is being dealt with. Keep your dignified silence, and your head held high! Not long to go......
  7. Hi Dazza, only just spotted your post - 152 -above. Can you share any of what has been said/implied?? Maybe the best way of dealing with it, is to challenge whatever it is he has said, and perhaps set the record straight with the facts?? That doesn't of course mean that all prospective constituents in Credenhill Ward will read HV, but Hereford's a small place..... people talk, and it might be a starting point. I dont know election rules inside out, but common decency tells me that one candidate should not be telling "outrageous lies" about another.
  8. Hi Ragwert! Have another read through of The Southern Link Road thread. Discussions have been had about this aspect of the route, and possible ways around it.... or over it, as the case may be! Complete with photos..... pages 3 and 4!
  9. Hi Green Knight. John Harrington has said that IOC will look at the Eastern Crossing. It's not off the agenda!
  10. Evening Jean! The full list of all candidates standing in all wards, is on post 27 page 1 of this thread. Have a quick read through, and this should bring you up to date!
  11. I've just read this story in full, over at HT. Unbelievably tragic, and so completely avoidable. What a waste of a life. I personally found the statement from Balfour Beatty's spokesperson particularly callous. They commented that they hadn't received a complaint about this verge. What???? Every verge, every field and every green space was horrendous last year, as well they knew. To try and step away from responsibility beggars belief. My heart goes out to Mrs Wilsons family and friends. (By the way Jim, us "City Dwellers" are well aware of the dangers.... we don't live in a protected bubble in Hereford, we do get out and about you know! Many of us have made specific complaints about issues which aren't 'our patch' but we can see there is a problem, and report it for other peoples benefit.)
  12. Tee Hee! Brilliant, Paul. I am well and truly reassured that all is now well on The Wirral. Move along folks. Nothing to see here......!
  13. Hello Roger! The warmest of welcomes to you! We have members who live in your ward, so you'll probably get asked a few questions! It's great to have you here, and I'm sure many of us will look forward to your contributions!
  14. Welcome to my world, Won't you come on in...... Good Grief! I've been taken over by the spirit of Jim Reeves! It is a strange little world Amanda...... but a pretty good one! You're very welcome here. Picking up on another point you made...... Hay Festival starts in a couple of weeks. From a few tents in the school playground, it has grown and grown. Now attracting visitors and speakers from around the world and boosting Hays economy. Thank the Lord some folks have vision!! I'll be there again....back in my camper van as usual..... and come rain or shine, I can't wait!
  15. Our Amanda has got plenty of fighting spirit, Green Knight...... she'll get there! You and I can spot a good 'un a mile off..... and Amanda is definitely that! Anyone who can wipe the floor with Pat Morgan is worth a vote for that alone! She's fearless.
  16. Well Jean, let's hope that Amanda is successful. The way to stop this road being built is to vote The Conservatives OUT, and IOC / Independents IN!
  17. Yet another reason to back Amanda! Excellent research there, Denise. I award you a gold star!
  18. Yes Jim, I was holding one of my poetry reading evenings. I had to hire Colin and his crew to hold the crowd back......... they were all demanding a refund on their tickets! Philistines!
  19. Chris, thanks for sharing this experience with us. I - like you - and I'm sure many more, get so frustrated by the system. I'm very pleased to hear that your punch in the face - although unwanted -proved to be the catalyst for this child to get moved to the loving and stable home she so desperately needed. (Lovely to read your last sentence though, that this child has grown up into such a lovely young woman.) From reading this, it would seem that this was quite some time ago. We all need to remember, that similar and worse, are sadly happening around us today.
  20. I do remember that, Dazza. All credit to you. If I was only in the process of beginning to hold you in quite high regard before, I certainly do now. Well done.
  21. Interesting, Two Wheels that you have also had that thought. I'm so glad that my mind works in a similar way to yours on occasion, on a personal level I find that quite reassuring. I often have to stop myself from blogging about every little thing that causes me alarm..... folks would think I'm as mad as a fish! But the jargon does make you wonder, doesn't it?? Phase 2 of the master plan for the next generation.
  22. I should have also added my thanks to you, Dazza, for saying that regardless of the election outcome, this is an area you will look at further. I do appreciate that statement.
  23. I've no idea Denise! As long as it's not outsourced to Freedom Church, for one of their "leadership" courses, I'm not going to worry too much!
  24. Chin up! I talk an awful lot.....even more than I blog....... and I am saying very positive things about you! Folks do listen, and they are interested. You'd be a real asset to this council. Keep telling yourself that. I certainly believe it.
  25. My primary concern is the lack of bed availability for CAMHS locally. The well being of the young person being foremost in my mind. However,If we look at the cost, it is astronomical, and don't forget Dazza, when looking at the money involved, that there are also the added costs of paying for these childrens education whilst they are out of county. The amounts involved are eye watering. I honestly feel that we should be able to have a more local provision. I feel the same way about children with disabilities who end up in residential placements at the other end of the country. Separating them from their families, fracturing relationships, costing up to a quarter of a million pounds per specialist place. We could do far more to keep these young people within county. It would be far better for them, would be far more economical..... and we have the expertise within this county to make it work. Assets surplus to requirements???? Hold a fire sale? give them away?... or......USE them for the benefit of some of this counties most vulnerable? I know what my answer would be, but it would take a great deal of joined up thinking and planning. Something which we have been sadly lacking in, here in Hereford. Hopefully, that will change......
