  1. I don't know about you, Amanda, but I find it incredibly reassuring that someone as knowledgeable as Cllr. Sinclair-Knipe, can just brush aside all of my worries and concerns about this, with a few well chosen phrases. Those very phrases which illustrate to me perfectly that he has a sound understanding of this issue, and is most definitely best placed to have the right solution. What a fool I am. Of course he knows best. And I don't feel in the slightest bit patronised by his predictable response..... not one bit. The pictures are brilliant by the way, it's what we should be aspiring to achieve here. (P.S. I did speak to a few folks from Widemarsh Ward earlier...... you definitely have their vote!)
  2. An interesting post, Chris. What is also lacking, is an availability of inpatient beds, particularly CAMHS. The closest is Birmingham, I have known children being sent to Kent. This is appalling, both for the child and their family. We had a concerted campaign to "cut the cancer misery miles", with a collective view taken from Worcester, Gloucester and Hereford. We perhaps need to think along these lines with an aim to improving mental health provision/resources locally.
  3. We are a very engaged bunch on here, David...... well worth interacting with!
  4. Many thanks for the speedy response!
  5. Welcome David, thanks for your contribution. So is it only on Polling Day that the 200 yard ban applies?? I understand that you are also the Lib Dem prospective city and county councillor for the Central Ward??
  6. Morning Colin! Joking aside about the position of this sign, it could well have been placed there by an enthusiastic supporter. That said, if it has Phil Edwards name on it, I guess he has to take the ultimate responsibility for where it is placed. Ditto Lucy Hurds. After all, surely all councillors/prospective councillors should be aware of the rule surrounding this?? If they can't get to grips with this sort of thing pre-election, it doesn't instil much confidence that they will be able to get to grips with the issues they'll be facing post election.
  7. I don't think you need to worry about upsetting folks, Denise.... that's the great thing about this forum, it's a great place to exchange ideas, opinions and information. Personally, I can't see this happening. Should there be a need for any sort of alliance, there are some very good Independent councillors. This is the only sort of alliance I can see......IOC and Independents. But that's just my opinion!!
  8. I'm still none the wiser as to why the roof of TKMaxx is covered in a white tarpaulin! This is highly visible, has been there for weeks, yet nothing seems to be happening! If they've sprung a leak, it must be a large one!
  9. Morning Paul! Was it T.J. Crumps Oakwrights??? It is beautiful building.
  10. Blimey. Not much chance of missing that on your way to the ballot box is there??? I'm sure another poster has queried the placement of signs..... (perhaps relating to Phil Edwards??) .... on another thread. So, yes Colin, this perhaps does need clarifying.
  11. Hi Roger! I think many are waking up to the potential of Hereford Voice. To those who have signed up, but are yet to post, I say.... C'mon! Jump In! We may bark, but we don't bite..... well, not often!
  12. Hereford Voice is a brilliant forum, and it's going from strength to strength. A few Councillors cottoned on very quickly to the power of communicating with folks this way. We don't always agree, but we certainly feel that we know these councillors, they are highly visible and easily accessible. I would hope that those of you who have recently signed up, will continue to engage this way, when you are elected. It's a very good "finger on the pulse" of Hereford.
  13. Yes Flam, that should be an election promise made by all prospective candidates. Never, never take what's said at face value. Always, always question.
  14. Ooh! I love a bit of irony! I have been to Waitrose. Once. I bought a rice and walnut salad. I also had to 'fess up to Bobby......!! Following that.....I haven't been since....!
  15. Dazza, you're a straight talking guy. I like that. You also make a lot of sense, and have a clear grasp of what is happening, and crucially, what is needed. I truly hope you are successful. We need folk like you!
  16. Hi Adrian, I absolutely understand you disillusionment with the main political parties. Please, think carefully about the issues that are important to you. Please consider the changes that you would like to see made. At the end of the day, where you place your cross, will be between you and the ballot box. But please, please, please use your vote. It really is more important now than ever.
  17. I like what you did there, Amanda!
  18. Yes Roger. The 2gether Foundation Trust provide CAHMS support, and cover The Stonebow Unit, community mental health, as well as other things. They are based in Gloucester.
  19. It sounds to me that you two could work well together. I wish you both the very best. Chris, you are an amazing ward councillor. I hope your constituents realise what a good one they have in you.
  20. That de - icing solution.......I want it! Whoever has the ear of the Greyfriars/Whitecross candidates, tell them to get a wriggle on and get some of that stuff pronto! That'll guarantee them a good few votes! The pavements around Whitecross are bloody lethal in the winter.
  21. I have absolutely no issue with anything you have said, Chris. In fact I think what you have posted is wonderful. As I said and explained in my earlier post on this thread (36), I only have an issue with Freedom Church. This is nothing to do with religion..... in so many ways!
  22. There have been some really incisive posts on this thread. Great contributions from both Dazza and Chris. Dazza, I would agree retention of staff, and the over reliance on agency staff is a major factor. This group of folk, whether CAMHS or adult services, benefit greatly from continuity of care. Building relationships and trust. Time and again, I hear that they never see the same person twice, that's if they can even see anybody at all. I hear that The Crisis Team won't go out and talk to folks who have rung 999. An ambulance is sent. The Crisis Team are called again. Apparently; they will only consider it a crisis once the person in distress is admitted to A and E. Where is the care???? The compassion??? The wanting to help?? There is time only for writing prescriptions, and not providing the therapeutic care which could make such a huge difference to a persons life. And then we come to those organisations which seem to suck the lifeblood of funding from the NHS. Taurus, Primecare et al. Please take the time to find and read the "Taurus Healthcare" thread. Just pop that thread name in the search box. As I said, we take what is happening to our NHS seriously on Hereford Voice.
  23. Welcome to you, Dazza! In answer to your question....We have. There are many threads in various forums about the NHS. Those of us who post regularly, often post about the state locally and nationally of our NHS. Please take some time to search through, I can promise you there's a lot there! For me personally, I would like to know candidates views on the crippling under funding of mental health services, and particularly CAMHS. I've posted before, that this area is hidden yet growing problem. It's really at crisis point in this county. As you say..... discuss!
  24. A fine return volley there,Jimbo! New balls please!
  25. Hi Adrian, and welcome to Hereford Voice. It's great to have you here. I think this is something many of us are struggling with. Locally, I know exactly which box I shall put a cross in...... as you say, nationally it's a different story.
