  1. Brilliant to welcome Amanda Martin to this discussion! Good luck for May 7th, Amanda!
  2. It's really encouraging news, Colin, that everyone you have spoken to so far can see the potential in this idea. This could literally and physically, "Bridge the Gap" in Hereford..... bring folks together. I have mentioned the possibility of sponsoring seats.....I honestly feel that if people "own" an idea, it becomes far more important to them, and helps to drive projects like this forward. Even competitions, run in the community and schools, can help youngsters feel like they have a part to play in its development. Maybe design passenger "Stop, Shop or Drop" signs??? Little things like this can really fire up people's imaginations.......... Let's make this dream a reality!
  3. If you do nothing else on May 7th.....get up, go out, and VOTE! (Preferably IOC!) It's time for a positive change in Hereford!

  4. Good Grief! There are 23 people viewing this page right now! Make that 24!
  5. Oh that's an easy one to answer GK....... they can't! There is no justification for this road, or this debt. You would get much more support for spending this sort of money, if it was on an Eastern crossing. They have spent the past four years not listening..... they aren't going to start now. Time to get rid.
  6. I do hope all is not lost for our whistleblower. He/she must know that taking on The Council and Unison is a gargantuan task. Nobody would put themselves through all of that stress and worry, unless they really felt there was no other course of action. Of course, the easy option would be to turn away....pretend you have seen nothing. Thank God there are still a few good souls left, who know what integrity means. That is small comfort though, if they have been trampled underfoot by those who seek to keep the truth hidden, in order to protect the guilty. Maybe they should sign up here?? Post a transcript of those tapes......????
  7. Just read that Bill Wiggins MP, has put his London home up for sale, with a guide price of £3 million quid. Perhaps he has an eye on a purchase in The Urban Village...... !
  8. Must be Pete! I'm not knocking it, but there is an election in a few weeks time..... quite possibly the most important thing to happen , it will certainly effect every single one of us. Yet front page news this week? A cat story.
  9. That's a good point, Jimbo. We all need to get behind the ideas that are best for Hereford as a whole. The best idea I have heard so far, is to vote out the Conservatives.........! Surely nobody can dispute that this is a brilliant suggestion???
  10. This must be heralding the imminent arrival of The Urban Village then. If this is still on the cards?? Complete with 62 bed care home. I'm not sure that if my children decided to put me in a care home I would want to have an urban village on one side and the OLM on the other...... If I recall, 800 homes were promised. With the loss of 620 parking spaces...... those folks who work in the city centre will end up paying a fortune for long stay parking.
  11. I had the same thought, Roger. I was a tad confused...... but it does relate to the same premises doesn't it??? I'm not sure why HT are so far behind on this one.......
  12. Does part of The Great Western Way fall in the Widemarsh Ward?? The Courtyard Theatre end?? If so, it would be Amanda Martin!
  13. I love the idea of a cable car, Cambo! Let's have one running from the top of Aylestone Hill all the way into town...... then jumps on a tram! Or vice versa depending on where you live! Trams, cable cars and cycle routes...... now that would be the future for me! Local businesses or schools could "sponsor" seats to help raise money to get this project up and running...??
  14. The advert is looking good, Colin! I'm glad you were able to negotiate the colour ad...... really makes a big difference!
  15. I would hope Hereford Civic Society respond pretty quickly, Colin...... maybe even sign up as members!
  16. I do seem to recall that when this plan was discussed many years ago, the emergency services said that should the river flood, they intended to use the GWW as an emergency route for getting across the city. Perhaps this was another reason why the idea did not progress?? However, it doesn't flood at the ASDA roundabout anymore does it? So it's highly unlikely that this objection would be used for a scheme such as this now. It will be interesting to see how many folks get on board - no pun intended - with this suggestion!
  17. It always amuses and amazes me in equal measure, that a guy with as much vision and passion for this city, as Albert Heinz...... could be ignored by those who thought they knew better! That man did a great deal for this city. Far more than Jarvis, Johnson, Bretherton or Bramer!
  18. Welcome Jimbo! Great to see you posting!
  19. That sounds brilliant! I've always found it quite busy during the day..... we take the dog down to the river that way, and there always seem to be plenty of folks about! I must say, I am more than happy to walk the dog by myself at night, and walk through town after dark. I have no worries. I DO think Hereford is a safe place to live....... but there is no way I would walk up the GWW by myself in the dark!
  20. I think the actual idea is great...... do you sense a "but"??? There would still need to be room for pedestrians and cyclists to use it! As a link across the city, for both folks getting to work/school, enjoying a river side stroll, or just getting out and about, The Great Western Way is brilliant as a route for getting away from exhaust fumes, and the dangers that a mix of Hereford roads, impatient drivers, and never ending queues seem to cause!
  21. Last week, I had reason to walk that way on three different afternoons. It was heaving!
  22. There has also been an issue along these same lines in Worcester. I was reading about it in the WEN. It would seem that through the Worcester BID team, they sometimes employ taxi Marshalls.....and when these guys are on duty, the problem disappears....! Just wondering if Hereford might go down this route on weekends?
  23. Listening.....really listening, is an art form. Never underestimate the power of hearing the words people say.

  24. Blimey. I was only away for a few days...... what have I missed????
