I'm glad you stuck to your guns, Colin! Landscape suits the spacing of this ad much better than portrait! And that second ad that HT came up with....... what were they thinking????? Far too busy! Your advert looks great..... let's hope it has a positive effect on active members!

Efflorescence On the Walls.

Ok. So not salt appearing this time..... but am I the only one to notice that the top of TKMaxx is now covered in some sort of enormous white tarpaulin? Sat in the traffic this afternoon, I glanced across, and couldn't miss it! When did this appear.....and what's it for?? -
For me..... definitely without! I think it just adds clutter, to an otherwise snappy advert! (But that's just my opinion, other folk may disagree!) Err....... Colin......I hate to be a nuisance, but the place I really, really wanted a full stop, was right at the end..... after the word "involved". I know, I know, you don't need to tell me.....I am a right royal pain in the backside!

I completed one of those on line policy things..... where various policy statements are there for you to read, you then order them , all without knowing which party they originate from. It takes half an hour or so to go through all of the groupings.... health, education, environment etc. When you have finished, it shows as a percentage, which parties policies you were found to be most in favour of, and gives an overall result. For me, it was Labour 35%. Conservative 30% Green 20% and UKIP 15%. A really interesting exercise. There's obviously not a great deal to choose between Labour and Conservative policy. Therein lies the problem......

Nutters is still better by miles!

No way..... not another coffee shop! I made a plea for folks to support Nutters recently..... they make a great coffee in there! Let's support the Independent coffee shops! We have some great ones.

It is a ridiculous situation, Two Wheels. I can feel the frustration in your post. Would this not be a situation where the Locality Steward would be the best placed person to ask? Dropped kerbs seem to be on their weekly "jobs to do" list. I'm sure in one of the threads, it states they meet directly with members of the public. Perhaps worth a try??

Gold stars all round I think! (I was going to award you a Well Done sticker Colin, but I sent you one the other week!)

I shall take a look, Magic. Nice to hear from you again!

Ragwert posted about this last week, on the empty shops in Hereford thread. It's a real shame because they also incorporate The Early Learning Centre, so we are in fact, losing two High Street names.
-
Good Grief! I'd never spotted that one there!

That has got to be in breach of one regulation or another. Ironically, a flammable product almost blocking the fire door...... Not good.

Definitely not a fool, Green Knight. I posted much the same comment on the IOC Manifesto thread last night /early hours of this morning. I would be prepared to pay a little more into a ring fenced pot, specifically for the most vulnerable members of our community. I may not be rich, but I know I have more than some. I honestly believe that as a society, how we treat the vulnerable within that society reflects on us all. I can say hand on heart, that if I knew without a shadow of a doubt that this money was protected, and that those in charge were honest, and would ensure this money was spent in the best way....I would pay.
-
I have said previously that if an increase in council tax was ring fenced to pay for services such as these, I would pay it. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to, and I'd have to tighten my belt another notch.... but I would pay, if it benefitted the most vulnerable members of our community. Difficult choices are ahead.

Some years ago, Green Knight, this was indeed the case.... and we do still have very good schools. But with respite provision cut, and as Gdj mentioned, a complete decimation of the early years service, things have changed drastically. When these youngsters grow up, the provision is atrocious. Parents who have opted to keep their off spring at home, now have very little in the way of support. Funding reduced, day centres closed.... the onward march to make folks use personal budgets.... the list goes on. For those parents who are still caring for a child in their thirties or forties, and who themselves are on their sixties or seventies.... life is bleak. They have no choice but to continue. Early intervention for young people with mental health issues also needs flagging up as a priority. This is one area which desperately needs to be looked at. In Hereford, it really is a hidden - but growing - crisis. It seriously needs to be addressed.

I have finally lost the plot! You've already posted this letter! Apologies, Megilleland.....! You're too quick for me!
-
I'm sure there is also a letter on there specifically mentioning the stretch of road just past The Starting Gate Roundabout, heading towards Leominster, which I mentioned on the first page of this thread???? People are finally getting vocal about this issue!

Bravo, GDJ. Excellent comment.

Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Oh you've been missed alright Cambo! It's not the same without you! Make sure you keep on posting...... or I'll be putting up "Missing" posters! I do still think their reasons for rejecting the Country Bus Station are a bit suspect. It will be available in October 2016.....less than 18 months away. The fire service have said they are prepared to wait. What's 18 months in the big scheme of things? It's nothing really. -

We absolutely did Cambo! It does make you wonder doesn't it????? Great to hear from you again, my friend! I've missed your posts! -
Nor should it be, John. This was absolutely disgraceful, I would hope serious questions are being asked, from all parties. Green Knight also mentioned IOC and members of parliament......I did once suggest that Mark should consider standing as MP.....do you envisage that IOC may go this way, at some point in the future???

Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*

Tee Hee! The Cargill site is an interesting option. Apparently, with regard to the undisclosed location, they are looking at travel time for retained crews, and response times to get to the city centre..... the mediaeval core, which is high risk. We have looked at response times from the Cargill site......!
