Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
There is a "one in a hundred years" risk of flooding, they have always cited that as a concern. We have discussed a shared site on here... pages 24/25. It's interesting..... -
Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Hmmm. Update. Apparently, the police and fire are now looking at shared premises. They have ruled out the County Bus Station, and land off the new link road. They are looking at an as yet, undisclosed location. I wonder if this is the land which was owned by Cargill???? By Widemarsh Common?? I'm glad I didn't name the councillor who provided the last update. He seems to have got it wrong! At least the Boys Home would now appear to be out of the frame. It would be too small for a joint station. -
Decision notice. The Bullying of Disabled Council Staff
dippyhippy replied to WirralPC's topic in Open Forum
This is an absolutely appalling state of affairs. Thank God, this person had the foresight to record the conversation. The length of time this has gone on for is interminable. Whoever this person is, they must be living on their nerves. Convinced that all are now against them. To think that when you put your faith in a union, and they throw you to the wolves like this is beyond. I think we may be getting near to the end of this now. If those tapes do prove inadmissible..... I'd go public. I'd be playing those recordings through a loudhailer on an open top bus all around Herefordshire, for everyone to hear. -

I think it looks great! I love the size/ font style. Very clear and easy to read. The colours really make it "pop" off the page. (Good negotiating skills there, Colin!) Let's keep everything crossed that it helps to tempt a few more to board the good ship Hereford Voice! (But..... where's my dash line and full stop??????)

Fantastic news about Amanda Martin! I am delighted that she is standing! If anybody in this ward is reading this...... it's a no - brainer! Amanda would beat any other candidate hands down! Grrrr. Can't believe Morgan and Bramer are standing again. Haven't we suffered enough??? I was pretty sure that Cllr Price had said he wouldn't stand again, so that's a disappointment. Never mind. Onwards and upwards comrades! -
It will come as no surprise to many, that I am IOC all the way! To my mind the only party cohesive enough to lead our county forwards. Thanks for posting the manifesto on here, John. I read it the other week, and feel very positive about what your aims for Herefordshire are. There's not long to go now..... let's hope that come May, the changes we are all so desperate to see will happen. We can wave goodbye to all the deceit, lies, closed door meetings and complete lack of accountability, and welcome in honesty, transparency and integrity. It will be a much needed breath of fresh air!

Very interesting letter sent into The Hereford Times, from the chairman of Herefordshire's Taxi Association, Mr John Jones. He clearly states that the issue of refusing short distance fares is a clear breach of the law, and urges anyone who has had a fare turned down to report the driver to the licensing department. Mr Jones also says that this problem has been "brought to his attention...." Hmmm. I wonder if somebody pointed him in the direction of this Hereford Voice thread????

Thanks Megilleland......you are a star!

Good points, Flam.... Hereford Voice does have an awful lot to offer! I guess with advertising, it has to be fairly short and sharp.... so that folks read it, and hopefully remember it! Too many words, and folks lose interest and don't read it in its entirety. I would think a few carefully chosen words would have more impact visually, than a long spiel, which may not catch peoples attention. If we can get folk on board, entice them to come and have a look, maybe we can attract more members. That said, attracting folks to sign up is the easy bit..... it's getting them to contribute that's the real issue! At the end of the day....you can drag that horse to water, but you haven't got a hope in hell of getting it to drink if it doesn't want to!

Operation Castlemain draws to a close. Meanwhile patrols are stepped up in The Churchill Gardens to combat drugs offences. Full reports on both points are online at HT..... apologies for not being able to provide a handy link!

Great to see you posting again, Pauline! It will be interesting to know who IOC have in mind to stand in Marks central ward. I was hoping the brilliant Amanda Martin might be considering it?? I can't think of anybody better to step into Marks shoes! -
Organised community litter picks can be a great idea! It would be wonderful if even just once a year, children of all ages were encouraged either by parents or schools, to go and pick up litter. Getting into good habits at an early age, pays dividends later on. If young people can see that littering is not socially acceptable, then perhaps the next generation will live in a more pleasant environment!

Hereford Locality Weekly Briefing W/E 20 March 2015
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
Yes, the purchasing of grass cutting equipment update is confusing me! Balfour Beatty state that they have now purchased mowers. Apparently last year, they were hired? Why would a company tender for a contract, and promise to deliver certain works, if they do not even have the equipment to do the job in the first place? Surely knowing you would have to hire equipment is not really a cost efficient way of getting the job done? On a different note, well done Colin for keeping an eye on the brook. Those photos put a slightly different perspective on the optimistic "fly tips removed." report! -
Tee Hee! I absolutely am, Colin! I'm a nightmare to live with!

Please could we add a little dash line ( - ) between Hereford Voice Having YOUR say. So that it reads Hereford Voice - Having YOUR say. And also a full stop after the last line.... and get involved. Apart from those two tiny things, I think it looks great. But then I would say that....I wrote it!

Dog attack on young girl in Leominister.

Just the four warnings then....... It must have been obvious there was a problem, and a dangerous one at that. -

There is much that needs looking at with regard to responsible dog ownership. From puppy farms, to certain breeds being seen as status symbols. Attitudes, more than anything else, are what needs to be changed the most. -

I see on the local news, that those responsible for the dog which attacked that poor woman, have been banned from keeping dogs for life. I only caught a bit of the report, but it sounded as if the family(mother and two brothers?) who were charged, got conditional discharges? Meanwhile, one of the victims has been scarred for life. -
Hi Ragwert, do you know if Mothercare are closing to relocate, or closing all together? I ask because they also incorporate Early Learning Centre, since their High Town store closed a few years back. So in essence, we could be losing two high street names.

Councillor Mark Hubbard Resigns Planning Committee
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
Whilst many of us are genuinely sad that Mark isn't standing again, there are plenty of councillors who I would cheerily wave goodbye to. Can anybody actually clarify if Pat Morgan, Harry Bramer and the rest of the goonies are planning on standing again? -
Bumping this back to the front page because many members seem unaware of Marks decision to not stand for council again. We had this discussion almost a year ago, and as you can see, Mark himself has contributed to the thread to explain his reasons. Always best to hear things straight from the horses mouth, so to speak!

Councillor Mark Hubbard Resigns Planning Committee
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
It may be a decision that is just about legal..... but it's also highly questionable, and most definitely morally wrong. It sticks two fingers up at the rest of us. I'm not surprised Mark has resigned over this. He is a man of principle, he must have found the goings on in this council very hard to stomach at times. I wish him all the best, post May... when he is a "free" man once more. Mark has done more than most for this city, and I for one would like to thank him very much for his efforts. -
Great to read the report over at HT, about the Trinity School children helping to clear the Yazor Brook, as part of an eco project! This is in partnership with Cargill. This is just the sort of initiative that needs to be encouraged. A big WELL DONE, to all involved!
