  1. Good grief Chris! In your post above, we have...... 1.HALC. 2.PC. 3.Clerk to the Parish Council. 4.The chairman of the Parish Council. 5.The Lengthsman. 6.The Locality Steward. 7.Balfour Beatty. 8.RCO......whoever/whatever that is! 9.Ward Councillor. Phew! That's quite a list. It's little wonder there is confusion, and the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing! All this....... and the place is still a mess.
  2. Some really interesting information coming to light via this thread. I do recall reading that Ledbury had signed up for, and were very happy with, the lengthsman scheme. It was reported on a couple of times over at HT. As Flam says, there surely must be an up to date list....... although with the lack of joined up thinking and planning countywide, it would come as no surprise if no such list existed. As Megilleland has asked.....I can see no real reason why this scheme could not be tweaked to meet the needs of the city.
  3. I live in Whitecross, and locally I do believe that IOC are the way forward, however my own local IOC councillor is really not up to the job. I received a newsletter from the St Nicholas Community Association last week, which was basically just a vehicle for trumpeting the "achievements " of Sharon Michaels. Top of the list, was the litter pick and painting of the subway. Only this wasn't organised by her. It was organised and run by Time For Change, who posted on this very forum about it. I really do not like this jumping on the band wagon , of good deeds. Gaining glory of the back of someone else hard work. From reading the rest of the newsletter, it would seem that over the past four years, she has undertaken a ward walk, and spoken to some residents about parking related issues. Oh, and just before the elections, admits that the Saturday Surgeries may not have been held in the best location...... just the four years to realise that then? My advice to Ms Michaels would be, get yourself OUT into the local community, make your presence felt! The newsletter seems to imply that she will be standing again as ward councillor.......I will have to think very carefully whether this anonymous figure would get my vote again.
  4. Picking up on a point that Two Wheels made earlier.... Driving across to Leominster last week, the verges along practically the whole route were a disgrace. Particularly bad were a stretch just beyond The Starting Gate roundabout, and the Leominster bypass. I can't recall ever seeing it as bad as it is now.
  5. Hello atm63! So many welcomes to you! I'm afraid I don't remember this, but I'm sure there will be other members who perhaps do! It's always lovely to hear from a new member. Two Wheels..... great to hear the day was a success....... despite the weather! Roll on March 21st!
  6. Now that is a very interesting take on things, Pete. Blimey. Perhaps the reputation of HCC's leading lights, has spread far and wide. And nobody wants to touch them with a bargepole.
  7. Yes. I spotted those. Three positions in finance alone. Beggars belief.
  8. The spider mind map diagram, on your link to the CP forum, makes for a very interesting read Megilleland. Orwellian double speak. Sounds all too familiar.....
  9. And guess what Bobby? Even in these cash strapped times, a quick look at the councils jobs vacancy page will show you that there are still plenty of management opportunities. So bloody depressing.
  10. Yes, Flam! A plan with more cunning than a fox! Mind you, I think it may take more than a cunning plan to galvanise some members. I've just been looking at the members list. 16 people have signed up since the start of the year. Between those sixteen, just five posts have been made. Five. This is incredibly frustrating. Just looking at the members names at the bottom of this page tells me who has viewed this topic. The same names are often there, but they offer up not a single word! Nothing! To those folks I would say, either start to chip in with the odd remark, or be prepared for the content not to change very often! This forum needs YOU!
  11. I also think that parents need to start hammering home the importance of not littering to their children, at a very young age. I knew at a very young age, that rubbish went in a bin. If a bin wasn't to be found, then it was taken home, not just discarded. We seem to have a generation now of folks who just don't see dropping rubbish, spitting out gum etc. as an issue. It is NOT acceptable. There is a cost associated for clearing up this mess, which we all as tax payers, are footing the bill for. Great to see that Dave Throup himself has now signed up as a Hereford Voice member. His news reports whenever there are floods, have made him a bit of a legend! Welcome, Dave! I look forward to your contributions
  12. Just caught this on Midlands Today...... Increase in emergency admittance up 20% last week. I guess this could possibly explain the delays experienced by Ubiques friend. The whole hospital is now closed to visitors as Norovirus is on the rampage.
  13. The litter shown in Colins pictures, is purely down to very lazy, and selfish people. It is a complete lack of disregard for the environment in which we live. Sadly, this seems to be thought of as acceptable by a growing number of folks.
  14. Yazoo! Can't believe I didn't spot that error! A couple of years ago, much of the lower part of this was dredged and cleared.... making a huge improvement. Then came the storms during the early part of 2014, and many trees were blown over. These took an absolute age to clear. The branches blocking the stream up once again. I have just walked the dog up there, and have to say, it does look better. Some work has obviously taken place again, the water is just about flowing.
  15. Yes, Colin. I would agree with that!
  16. Dreadful. The brook which runs from Yazoo Road, down the Ash Path to Bulmers, is also regularly in such a state, that water cannot flow. It is completely stagnant.
  17. Bumping this because of question on another thread regarding ownership of Chadds building. Post number 64 Grid Knocker!
  18. Morning Grid Knocker! Great to see you posting again! We had a discussion about this a while ago, on another thread.....I am sure Aylestone Voice made some enquiries and confirmed that they do still own the building. If I can find the thread, I'll point you in the direction of it!
  19. Sorry! Could you clarify...... what's the plan????? Next Sunday, the 22nd, or the end of the month, which would give us an extra week!
  20. Brilliant! Well done, Ubique! Hopefully, if a few more supporters of Hereford Voice feel as strongly as we do about increasing both the numbers and diversity of the membership, we should soon raise enough! Lets spread the Hereford Voice word to the masses!
  21. Church leadership....... spreading the word, recruitment techniques, that kind of thing. Empire building, as Bobby would say.
  22. Hi Chris, many thanks for that! I understand that Freedom Church are already running some "leadership" courses...... at £1200.00 per place! A great way to make money!
  23. Tee Hee, Green Knight! If you are on your very best behaviour..... you may, just may get an invite!
  24. Taking the fact that Waitrose is situated on The Old Market site, out of the equation, do they charge for parking at their other stores? I don't believe any other supermarket charges for parking in Hereford, which to me puts Waitrose at a distinct disadvantage already. They need to be doing more to help their customers. A minimum spend of £20.00, is not going to do that. If folks just want to pick up a sandwich and half an ounce of tobacco, they are not going to call in at Waitrose in the car..... they will drive to another supermarket where they can park for free! The weekly food shop can be expensive enough, without having to pay for the privilege of filling up your trolley! I'm lucky, I live close enough to walk into town. About once every three weeks or so, we go and do a big shop.... sometimes Sainsbury, sometimes the Co-op.....but we have never paid to do our grocery shop!
  25. Great news, Colin! Hopefully we should be able to raise enough for a half page advert, pretty quickly at this rate!
