  1. Hi Denise..... now THAT is a very good question! I would have thought a building destined to become an International HQ, would have attracted a little more interest.....
  2. How very interesting Denise! Have you any more information on this? PM me of you don't want to post it on the thread!
  3. Well, Helen Coombes is certainly worth every penny of that large salary. She has been very busy lately sending out questionnaires to adults with learning disabilities. She would very much like to know how they rate their care. One parent, whose adult "child" still lives at home, wasn't sure if they were amused or annoyed at this. On the one hand, they are saving the council thousands upon thousands, by still struggling on and caring for this person -they have no choice really, as there is no real alternative - and yet the care they give as parents, is rated in the same way as a care home! Add in the fact that their offspring can neither read, write or understand the questionaire, it does make you wonder what exactly the point of this is. Could it possibly be just another pointless box ticking exercise? Thankfully, this parent was able to ask that very question. On the questionnaire was a helpful note which stated should anyone have any queries they could contact Helen on her direct number. The parent rang it. It was a recorded message which said "If you are in crisis telephone your social worker. If you do not have a social worker, ring the duty team." So very helpful.
  4. Hereford Heckler are now running this story. They also report that Freedom Church have bought the old Marian Fathers home on Holme Lacey Road. This is to be there new International Headquarters.
  5. A lengthy article, explaining the benefits of Taurus Healthcare, has appeared online at Hereford Times. Looks like Bobby was right about this campaign to let the great unwashed know they are there!
  6. Good grief Clarkester! Your ability to read my mind on this subject is quite uncanny!
  7. I see that Hereford businesses have voted yes, to the BID team! I think this is great news! I can't wait to see what plans they have for our wonderful High Town!
  8. Hi Ubique, it sounds as if your friend had a dreadful day. I had surgery a couple of years ago, and even though I was asked to arrive for 7.00am, for the morning list, there was a disclaimer in small print, to say I may be on the afternoon or even evening list, they also told me ring on the morning to ensure there was a bed! Plenty is brilliant about the NHS.....but plenty could be improved! Your friends situation, does raise other questions..... Mainly I guess, why patients from Wales are still routinely being referred to Hereford for a daycase procedure, and not a Welsh hospital? I really hope your friend is able to convalesce, and recover from this.
  9. I think that's an excellent suggestion, Green Knight. I will also message Colin this evening with a proposed contribution. Hopefully, between us, we could raise the amount quite quickly. I would also propose that should there be any excess funds, these should be donated to Colin towards the running and upkeep costs of this forum. Would others agree??
  10. IOC are blogging updates updates from this, on their Facebook page. My other half showed me, and it's well worth taking a look.If anybody could provide a link..... if this is possible to a Facebook page...... it makes for an interesting read. It is my understanding that should (fingers crossed) IOC take control in May, they will look again at also the budget, and the huge capitol spend projects, which would see us accruing even more debt. Very sensibly, in my humble opinion, they say there needs to be a halt to simply spending money - our money - which we just do not have. Roll on May.......!
  11. Well put, Clarkester.
  12. What a sorry state of affairs.... it's like politics by numbers. And they wonder why the general public have such high levels of cynicism, and voter apathy is such a problem. Such a great cause, overshadowed by politicians who don't appear to genuinely care about it. This mass "scripted" event, is quite frankly, disgusting.
  13. We can only hope that this legislation is pushed through as quickly as possible, and is extended to provide protection for all those courageous souls who have done the right thing. This really can't happen soon enough. So many have already paid far too heavy a price.
  14. Good Grief Green Knight! What are you suggesting!!!?????
  15. Ah Mole! My one success story from my last plea for new members! So good to read you again, and good to hear you are planning on posting once again...... you made some great contributions! I really look forward to your comments! Take care. Dippy.
  16. It's quite a big space. Double fronted, with the skittle alley as well. Whitecross pubs see to be disappearing fast. The Plough is also advertising for new folks to run it. Let's hope they get someone to take it on. With The Cott about to be turned into houses, The Buck now a Tesco Express, we only really have The Brit left. If The Plough were to go the same way, Whitecross would never be the same.
  17. Tee Hee! I may just do that Two Wheels!
  18. By the way, once you get a quote for the ad price, let us know. I am sure there are a fair few who will happily chip in to help, myself included! I see from the stats at the bottom of the front page, that Hereford Voice has just received it's 300,000's visitor! These pages ARE read by many.....we'd just like them to get themselves a little more involved!
  19. Let's go for it! Hereford Voice is fab.....and could be even better with an increase in active members! It's something I have been trying to encourage for a while! An advert in the local press could well tempt many more Herefordians to get tippy tapping, and hopefully, may also encourage a few more councillors to jump on board! Great suggestion Green Knight!
  20. You'll be delighted to know then Paul, that the information I recall reading came from your excellent blog! I was quite astonished to hear the twists and turns. Most illuminating.
  21. Thanks for that,Bobby! I am now reassured that my addled memory is currently functioning correctly!
  22. Hi Paul, isn't this the case that Frank Field MP got involved with?? Our own MP appears to be extraordinarily quiet on the recent goings on ......
  23. I have many fond memories of Janet going into battle for a member. She was without doubt, absolutely irreplaceable.
  24. It was a different story in Herefordshire, 15 or so years ago. A formidable duo of Janet Atkinson and Eddie Clarke were at the helm...if you had cut either of them in half, like a stick of seaside rock, they would have had "Union" written all the way through them! They were brilliant! How times change. And not for the better in many instances.
  25. Alas Green Knight, not all stories which appear in the printed edition make it on line, and vice versa. ....we can only speculate as to the reasons for this! This is a golden opportunity to make a hugely positive difference to High Town. I would hope that the BID team will be very vocal in encouraging the council to show some initiative and purchase this building. Let's actually see some action on this issue...it has gone on for far too long.
