  1. Tut tut, Roger! Oh ye of little faith! Those two new energy efficient -sorry, HIGHLY efficient - condensing heating systems will save a penny or two! It's all been money well spent on this most deserving of groups, I'm sure............!! Meanwhile, back in the real world........
  2. If you weren't worried before, you should be now after reading this.
  3. Here's hoping, AV - I have everything crossed for a landslide victory!
  4. Am I looking forward to voting in the May 2015 elections? Damn right I am! With barely six months until the day arrives, when precisely are we going to be told who is/isn't going to be standing? I have asked this question previously on another thread, but could not get an answer. Isn't it about time all parties started treating the forthcoming election as an imminent event, and letting us know who we can potentially vote for?
  5. This had to be done. I wonder how long it will be before the folks who live in Moreland Avenue/Penn Grove Road area notice an increase in vehicle parking in these streets? I was amused to read in The Hereford Times, that the council are advising that whilst car parking charges would stay the same, and remain in force during the Wednesday late night shopping evenings in the six week run up to Christmas, they very kindly inform us that we may use the council car parks up Plough Lane free of charge, after 4.00pm. I guess the staff must have an early finish on a Wednesday then..........
  6. Agreed Two Wheels. If they could sell the Black and White House and The Cathedral, they would try!
  7. I feel this is the right decision, Colin.
  8. Ah. That would explain it!
  9. Welcome Vicar! Good to see you posting! I believe the numbers last year were around the mid 20's. I haven't heard any updates about the school, GDJ, but if I do I will post and let you know. By the way, have you heard that staff are paid via Worcestershire rather than Herefordshire?? I'm not sure of the ins and outs, but wondered if any other poster could shed some light. . Would this be because The Robert Owen Group are a Worcester set up? Sooooo.........a Worcester based group decide that Herefordshire would benefit from a Free School, then Herefordshire hand over a valuable building, it's attended by Herefordshire pupils, which takes money from Herefordshire schools.......yet staff are paid via Worcester.............what am I missing here, or have I got this completely wrong?? As I say, I am not sure how this works, so please feel free anybody to chip in!
  10. Thanks for that, Glenda. I shall click over and have a look!
  11. Ooops! I see what you mean Megilleland!
  12. Because then it wouldn't be alternate weekly collections, and save us all this money!! (Comment above made with tongue firmly in cheek!!)
  13. Not quite sure why H- M- O has fallen foul, in both my post and Ubiques..........it stands for homes with multiple occupancy, and is definitely not a rude word that requires editing! If there already "hotspots" appearing, then this really is something that needs getting to grips with. At the end of the day, we all need to try to generate less waste, and recycle/ compost all that we can. Unfortunately, there will always be those who can't/won't make that effort, and are not particularly bothered by any consequences. This will lead to our streets, our city, our county looking increasingly uncared for. Once that happens, it's a domino effect. Folks start to think, well if everybody else isn't bothered by it, then why should I? And before you know it, an entire area can become an eye sore.
  14. I'd like to know the answer to that as well Two Wheels, as there are a few ***'s by me. Common sense would say that each bed sit, should be entitled to a wheelie bin, but there is nowhere really to store eight wheelie bins!
  15. Just what I was going to say, Flam! Another issue which does need to be addressed though, is wheelie bins left out on very narrow pavements. This is causing real problems in some of the Whitecross side streets, although I appreciate that last week was not the best of starts, with conflicting information given on leaflets and the council website. Having to repeatedly step out into the road to navigate the wheelie bin obstacle course, is tricky enough with a dog in the dark. For those folks with buggies to push, or in wheel chairs, its a nightmare. Potentially quite dangerous too.
  16. Isn't this eastern route the one that was backed by Jesse Norman? And weren't the costinngs for this considerably less, with considerably more benefits, given the proposed plan to put a railway stop at Rotherwas, this to me, would seem to be the most joined up plan.
  17. Hi Aylestone Voice, We have one black bag and one recycling bag per week as a rule, so with the alternate collection, it's a max of two bags. We don't have a wheelie bin, as there is no rear access, and I didn't want one anyway! We keep the bag of household refuse in our traditional old bin in the garden, whilst the one in use stays housed in the back porch. The recycilg bag, once full, lives in the shed until the collection is due. Personally, I didn't anticipate any problems with alternate weekly collections, as we just don't generate that much household waste. Having now seen the size of the wheelie bins at neighbouring properties, I can appreciate that for larger families it could well prove problematic. Having encouraged us all to recycle as much as possible, it seems a tad foolish of the council to then make it more difficult by insisting that the bin lid must shut, or not collecting anything recyclable left next to the bin. They should embrace our recycling efforts, and take whatever is there! Not penalise us with warning stickers! Household waste is a different matter though.
  18. Welcome back, Glenda! I'm pleased to hear that all is well with you!
  19. Well, slowly but surely we seem to be tempting a few out again recently, which can only be a good thing! But I have to say, I am becoming increasingly concerned about Our Glenda. Not a murmur for quite some time. Does anybody know if she is OK? This is highly unusual, and not like her at all to be so quiet. Glenda, if you read this, I hope all is well with you.
  20. That's quite an achievement for me, as I struggle with remaining focussed for any length of time......so many random thoughts, so little time to process them...!!!
  21. My Japanese is a little rusty, Ubique.....but at least I kept on topic with that reply!
  22. Dono yo no shitsurei, Ubique!! Watashi no yoi namae o chusho o chuzo!!!
  23. Good Grief! In this one thread alone, me, Biomech, TWG, Megilleland and Ragwert have all been told off!! That must be a new Voice record! I apologise in advance, Colin for this random comment!!
  24. If they had bagged up all the deposits from the salt covered walls of the OLM, there would have been enough to keep them going 'til Spring!
  25. Now here's a man whose reputation goes before him! Welcome Andy! Sign up on here, and post your views, I'm sure you could give us a few pointers for when being rolled in nettles isn't quite enough!!
