Spate of Road Works in Hereford City at the moment.
dippyhippy replied to John Harrington's topic in Open Forum
I have no clue John! It was a large hoarding that had covered it, and there does appear to be a strip of colour missing from where one of the struts was fixed to the wall, which is why I had thought it was painted. I could pop in and ask Woody.....it's his building, so he may know! He could also put me out of my misery and tell me if it's going to remain on view!! Now.......back to the red wine, and toblerone! -

Hi Hillbilly!! Is that a technical term?? You'll need to explain that one to me I'm afraid! -

Completely off topic, and I do apologise, but in the picture showing the side view of Woody's Angling, the old advertising board has been taken down revealing a beautiful old painted sign for a butchers! It's really quite lovely! I hope it doesn't get covered up again. -

Oh those photos really do show these "roadworks" in all their glory! It is pathetic that something like this can cause gridlock. -
Police Seize Cigarettes From 'Kurdish Owned' European Shop
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Police & Crime
Hi George! I thought you were partial to the odd B and H??? Reading back through this thread, I see Marc Willemont has been thanked several times by different posters, no "pile on" here! In fact, I see very little evidence of the "pile on" factor you keep mentioning.........!!! Back to the thread.......... It's certainly heartening to see that Trading Standards are really trying to get to grips with this. After all their efforts and hard work, they must be as cheesed off as I am that the sentence seems so paltry. Just how many "chances" are these businesses given? They need to clean up their act, or face much harsher penalties. -
Make sure you keep us posted! We expect updates you know! Obviously if I was going, I wouldn't need to ask. But I bought the boots. So I'm stopping at home!!

We drove back from North Wales, and didn't encounter any problems at all.......until we got to Whitecross Road! Ridiculous situation to travel all that way, then when your house is in sight, you can't get to it! I couldn't believe how bad the traffic was earlier......it was queued up right down to Steels roundabout, and as John says, all that chaos for a couple of cones, and a patch of tarmac! There was less messing around when they resurfaced a large proportion of the road a couple of months ago!! So many drivers using the very narrow side streets, as a "short cut" to try to avoid sitting in it, and some of them driving at ridiculous speeds in a confined, residential area. You would think folk would know better. -
New Black Bins, Max 4 Bags a Fortnight - f*** Off

The Demise Of The Bin Bag. Fare thee well, black bin bag, You aren't needed anymore, You will not be filled with rubbish, And placed outside the door. Often you've been bulging, Full up with household waste, Sawdust from the hamsters cage, And meals the family would not taste. (.......I'm no cook!) But now your time is over, Some say this is a sin, We say,"Goodbye"to our trusty bags, And, "Hello" Wheelie Bin! By. D Hippy. -

Goodness me! Isn't Mr Johnson getting touchy lately?? Or should that be tetchy?? I've said before, I know nothing about football......but I am interested I knowing when local politicians seem to be telling some rather big fibs about what has been happening. And I am always interested to hear reports, when it emerges that Mr Bretherton has been stirring the pot.( Hereford Futures are still casting a shadow......) Mr Johnson still seems to be of the opinion, that nobody must question.......they know what is best for us. They don't. They never have. -

Oh Dear Lord!! I clamber down from the Welsh Mountains, to be greeted by this wonderful news.....Hallelujah!! It's been a long, hard slog....but we have done it!! I am so very proud of all my posting pals who have emailed, objected, leafleted, phoned, grumbled, complained and generally made a nuisance of ourselves! This is brilliant!! This just goes to show that we absolutely CAN make a positive difference when we all band together!! Well done everybody! Just for once, the score reads.... Harry Bramer......0 Mendacious Oddities......1 !!!! -
Very good Clarkester! That, or there would be a county wide ban on growing nettles, or owning a cannon!! My favourite "good idea" is to vote out the conservatives at the first opportunity! Seriously though, as another poster pointed out - I think it was George - quite a few of the issues raised on these pages are getting attention........for whatever reason!!! That can only be a good thing!

Thanks for that Ragwert. Getting the right folks in to run any pub is key. They can make or break it. I understand that The Cock Of Tupsley is a well run establishment, it certainly seems to do a roaring trade in food. If they think they can bring this pub back up to scratch using their know how, experience and business acumen, I say that is a conversation that's definitely worth having.

Good Lord. This seems to point in one direction only. This whole saga was a calculated and premeditated ploy. Pretty much what many suspected all along. -
That's great Jim! Thanks so much for letting us know!!

A quick look at St Pauls website, confirms there has been no mention of any news regarding The Whitehouse for quite some time. Indeed, all fundraising efforts now seem to be pointed firmly in the direction of raising £25,000.00 for a new heating system for the church. It would appear The Whitehouse project, seems to be off the radar and off the agenda. Just what you want to hear, if you have the daily reminder of looking at this site everyday. Never mind. I understand the view from the vicarage is quite pleasant, so that's alright then.

That's a real shame to hear that, Jim. Colin, those photos are stunning! You have the knack! Great to see this lovely building brightening up this end of town once more. I wish them every success!

If the Shire Hall renovations are complete, this must mean that there are more toilets for the public to use! I shall pop in this week at some point to check out the facilities! After all, we've paid for them! -

Good idea Jim. Folks....email your councillor and ask the question! Replies can be posted on this thread for all to see. -
Hi Jim, thanks for replying! I am sure from what you have said, that you can understand the residents' mounting frustration at both the lack of activity on site and lack of information! I am not surprised you've stayed away from it - unfortunately, when you look at it every time you open your curtains it's not quite so easy to forget about! Would a joint approach to St Paul's be a more united way forward?? I am not quite sure which of the Tupsley councillors ward covers Whittern Way.....is it Cath North? If so, I'll stop bothering you, and contact her!!! Many thanks again for your response, Warm regards.

Hi Ragwert, Can you recall when it was last a well used pub? I think a well run pub can offer a real focal point to a community. We have lost plenty of good, local pubs in recent times
-
Thanks for that info Two Wheels. Does this mean that it would have to go through the whole process again? I'm not being critical of the original grand plan.......I just think that perhaps this project was too ambitious and has now overwhelmed the groups who are supposed to be driving it forward. The trouble is, it's those who live nearest who are having to put up with years of uncertainty and a complete mess to look at. Why, if there is another offer on the table, which would breathe new life into this building, are the community not being consulted??

It would still be good to have him voice an opinion on it, and support his many constituents who DO care deeply about this!
