  1. Well. That will be interesting.
  2. Hi Paul, it is only a rumour - I have to say, I would not usually repeat rumours, I either voice my own opinion on matters, or like to find out the facts! However, this is potentially, an extremely worrying turn of events. If the victims involved in this case are targeted, then to me that proves that the councils confidential reporting code is not worth the paper it's printed on.
  3. I believe it's called self preservation Denise. I don't believe any of the conservative councillors will voice an opinion against this, even if their constituents feel strongly about this issue. I honestly think that in their minds, it is better to offer no opinion, than risk rocking the boat. We do not need councillors like this. We need ones who can think for themselves, speak their minds and stand up for what is right.
  4. I quite agree, Megilleland. On a different, but still money related note, I have concerns about some of the "chuggers" who operate in High Town. Basically, charities employ people to stop folks in the street, and try to convince them to sign up to supporting their cause. Although it can be a tad irritating sometimes to be stopped half a dozen times between Laura Ashley and Boots, I never really thought much about it. I have long supported three charities that are close to my heart - and finances dictate that I can support no more on such a regular basis. This afternoon, however, I was marching across town during my lunch break, and witnessed an elderly lady being accosted by one of these people. She looked quite confused, and a little perturbed. I hung back, and observed for a few moments.....I was relieved when another lady emerged from Marks and Sparks, (possibly her daughter?) and steered her away. My concern is that some people will hand over their bank details to anybody with a laminated photo and a clipboard. Should elderly, or any potentially vulnerable group be targeted like this? Do these folks have to follow any sort of code of conduct?
  5. I don't know if anyone else can shed some light on this, and I wasn't sure where else to post it, but there are rumblings - rumours I suppose - that more staff could be made redundant. I heard that the Customer Services department could be affected........isn't that the department where all of this stemmed from?? Anybody else heard whispers?
  6. Yes, I would love a few more youngsters to get involved on here. It would be great to hear things from their perspective. That said, there are plenty of folks I know who are my age - 40's -and they don't vote. Apathy is the enemy of change. If folks of any age decide to sit on their backsides, and NOT vote, we may be stuck with this lot quite a while longer. Both the local and national elections are going to be hard fought.
  7. Nice to see the Common Purpose Connection still in full swing. Not.
  8. To have not sorted this within ten weeks, is pretty appalling . Let us know what response - if any - you get from Our Leader.
  9. Hi Tristan! Welcome to Hereford Voice! I drove past the cottage this morning - McCartneys "Property for Auction" board was still outside, I actually wondered if it was still for sale. Nothing appears to have changed from the outside. As you say, I also thought the property details from the estate agents showed that a lot of the inside had been cleared already. Have you spoken to the agents? If they arranged for the property to be cleared, they should know what has happened to the contents.
  10. Hi Colin, thanks for putting that email up! Afternoon Bobby......the madness continues. There is no let up, and no sign of things improving any time soon. Why do we bother??? Sometimes, I really wonder. It's bloody exhausting, completely thankless and endlessly repetitive. I need wine......and I need it now!
  11. A very encouraging response there, from Phil Edwards - if a few more think like him, this could be a very positive development! It's great that Megilleland email is getting councillors involved!
  12. A Big Gold Star for you Megilleland! Go straight to the top of the class for that piece of work! That is an absolutely brilliant email! Adrian Bridges response is interesting. I hope other councillors take the opportunity to voice their opinions.
  13. Just to add, there is a £3.00 charge payable on the door! There are some great questions on the other thread which Flam started.....but there must be more!! Colin! would you be able to submit one or two on behalf of Hereford Voice members???? Also, would it would make sense to merge this thread and the Questions for Cllr Johnson thread, so that all the information is together???
  14. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to have an on call doctor from your own surgery? If you were ill, out of GP surgery opening hours, or on the weekend, you could ring and get a familiar face who was perhaps familiar with your own medical history, to either visit or conduct a telephone consultation. This would cut out the need for Crime Care ,sorry- my mistake-Prime Care, walk in medical centres, the 111 service, and help reduce the ever increasing abuse of our 999, and A and E department. It really isn't that long ago that this was normal practise. Giving GP's the choice of opting out of providing this service, was a huge mistake in my humble opinion.
  15. I think it may be worth sending an email to Prince Charles. I would absolutely love it if he signed up to Hereford Voice to put his two pence worth in - unlikely, I know....but worth a shot!!
  16. Thanks for the information and update, Mark - it's much appreciated!!
  17. Hi Paul, Whichever way this goes, you have certainly highlighted some extremely distasteful and murky goings on. For that, you have my thanks. People need to know that this is happening, and it's being allowed to happen. We need more folks like you, who have the tenacity to try to get to the truth.
  18. Hi Denise, no, there are apparently no bats......although this whole thing is making me feel decidedly batty, but I don't think that counts!
  19. Hi Cambo, there is some interesting information regarding this on the swift conservation website.
  20. OK folks! We need to start thinking about solid reasons for objections for this. I'm plumping for the reason that the design does not enhance or improve the conservation area. I am also of the view that the materials they are planning to use, are going to make this carbuncle look like an industrial unit which would look more at home on The Rotherwas industrial estate. I have concerns about the size of the training tower, the effect on neighbouring properties ie. noise, being overlooked. Also access - straight out onto Bath Street. There are also other environmental aspects to consider. Trees will be felled......again. There is an awful lot of information contained within this thread......I've just spent over an hour re reading it! The clock is now ticking, so let's throw some ideas around, make sure this topic is back on the radar.....and get those objections in!
  21. There's a flaw in your plan, Biomech - they may decide to let it grow even longer to cover it up!
  22. Agreed, this is not the most appropriate place to pull up. If they are in need of a temporary base, might I suggest the large plot of council owned land at the top of Plough Lane? A location like this would surely be better? Would it not make sense to have an area set aside for travellers to pitch up on a temporary basis? This is always going to be a hugely emotive issue, especially given recent events, so if we are to have a discussion, can I make a plea to keep it calm and rational??
  23. A really great post, Megilleland!
  24. I hope the investigation is extremely thorough, and the victims can see that justice is being done. Let no stone remain unturned.
  25. We had a power cut in Whitecross on Tuesday.....about 6'ish in the evening......that one obviously wasn't newsworthy!!
