  1. They would love to incarcerate him on the top floor of Plough Lane.....surrounded by Hoople logos and management speak!!
  2. What.....do you mean INSTEAD of knocking it down and replacing it with a new fire station???? You must tell us more!!!
  3. Afternoon Ubique! I have read and re-read, and honestly think that Our Bobby is reflecting on his general writing style.....I know that I have previously chided him for being a tad over the top, but I wouldn't change him, and I know you wouldn't either! Writing styles often really "identify" a poster...I would know Bobby's anywhere! If I could make a comparison - writing styles and well know puppet characters.....I am more like Fozzie Bear from the Muppets.....Biomech is Animal, Two Wheels and Megilleland are Bert and Ernie , you are probably Kermit!! etc etc. Bobby....well, he's more Spitting Image isn't he???? It's good that we can disagree, and even pull each other up now and again, without there being any hard feelings.
  4. Hi Pete, A chap called John was the landlord for many years.(He would always put out the beautiful hanging baskets that used to adorn the pub.) Sadly he passed away a couple of years ago. The pub had quite a bit of money spent on it, and reopened doing food regularly....but it just wasn't enough. Many of us have done "The Sunday Circuit" around Whitecross.....and folks would always call in at The Buck for a drink...but usually ended up in either The Brit or The Plough. The Cotterall always had a lot of pub teams to support it, darts, pool, skittles etc. and I think The Buck used to do this as well. But after John passed away, I don't think they kept up with this aspect. I have no idea if they tried to sell it as a going concern - I don't recall ever seeing any of those "Could you run this pub" banners outside, which often seems to accompany unopened pubs. With The Cott closed as well....The Sunday Circuit will never be the same again!
  5. Good Lord Bobby, have you been on the gin??? This isn't like you - there is no way you could ever be described as a bully, not ever. There is a huge difference between political satire, and the type of abuse which is sadly all over the internet. You lampoon, you mock, you take the mick....but it is all larger than life! If folks can't see your ramblings for what they are, then I think they are somewhat lacking in the sense of humour department. Yes, we laugh at "them".....but considering what "they" do to us and our county, I think that's a pretty fair exchange! You have much empathy for the "little guy" the man in the street, and very often you say what many others would probably like to - and you do it in your own inimitable fashion. You're also a great friend, who gives good advice and that itself is worth its weight in gold. Don't give up the tapping....your rants help keep me sane!!
  6. Hi Glenda, thank you for your last post - I really think we should have this information. Your efforts are much appreciated. Hi Chris, you say there IS a named vote?? I am a tad confused now!! Anyway, I really hope that this gets through, and all the opposition Councillors can take this opportunity to work together. As you say Chris, where there's a will, there's a way!
  7. What a brilliant précis of your meeting, Ubique.....thanks so much. It sounds to me that Our Inspector Semper has his head screwed on, and talks a lot of sense! Well done for keeping us informed, and thanks to both you and the Inspector for taking the time to discuss these issues on behalf of Hereford Voice members. A big gold star to you both!
  8. Mmm. Lovely. It would seem the old saying..."If it looks too good to be true, it probably is" is correct. I bet if they put that info on the packaging labels, folks wouldn't be so quick to buy 'em!
  9. Would the land be more valuable than the pub then???
  10. Nooooo!! What on earth are they planning on doing there then?? Is that just during the overnight works? That would make sense I guess, although...no, it wouldn't because you would still have access up as far as Plough Lane, so what's that all about then??
  11. That's great, Glenda - I hope your request is successful. I think we the public have the right to know which way our ward councillors vote in a matter as important as this.
  12. Yes! I spotted this whilst out and about - common sense strikes again!
  13. Hi Glenda, Will we be allowed to know who voted in favour, or is it a secret ballot?? I'm sure you will get voted back in next May - your constituents must realise they have a good one in you!
  14. And on the ITV early evening news, I was informed that hair driers are amongst a raft of other goods which are in danger of falling foul of the same legislation! Eeeek! Bad hair days will be on the rise!
  15. I have to say, I have an awful lot of sympathy for Mr Davies - the new owner. He has paid out a large sum of money, presumably will have to spend / is spending a lot more money on renovations, and is getting all of this aggro. I wonder if he had any inkling, of what he was letting himself in for?
  16. We shall carry on meddling mendaciously then, Flam!
  17. I'm really pleased to hear that Glenda! In your opinion, do you think all of the opposition can actually come together and get this passed? Should the worst happen, would opposition consider putting forward a motion of no confidence in the cabinet? This is something that many of us who signed the petition 12 months ago calling for this, wanted very much to happen.
  18. Blimey! This idea has been around for quite a while. I remember when we were discussing Jesse Normans preferred east route road, and many of us thought that the two ideas combined would /could be a very sensible - and cost effective way forward. Thanks for the info Glenda!
  19. The headline screams....."Hereford Fire Site Faces Enforcement Action." Reading through the article, the last sentence reads, "Councillors heard that the option for enforcement was open should the relevant talks not prove fruitful." Hmmmm......so, are they....or aren't they? I see from the comments underneath that Megilleland also picked up on this. Are they finally going to get to grips with this, or is it all just more bluff and bluster??
  20. It's on now....and strangely enough, Jeremy is interviewing a lady called Sian Williams from Hereford, who runs a cleaning company and is none too pleased about this! Another guest has assured listeners that the "Hoover Police" will not be knocking on doors!!
  21. Hi Chris, I don't know - but maybe they will not be allowed to manufacture and sell these powerful hoovers?? If they don't make them - we as consumers, can't buy them! I think Jeremy Vine is doing a feature on this very subject on his Radio 2 show today....12-2pm. Quite a coincidence that his brother, Tim, won a comedy award recently for his one-liner......"I'm selling my hoover.....it's just collecting dust!"
  22. This topic has just made it onto the pages of HT. Some interesting comments regarding who owned it, and speculating as to why it has closed......
  23. Unfortunately, I shall be at work, otherwise I would have gone to see for myself! I am intrigued though, can you drop a hint Glenda?? I am more than a little surprised that this story has not provoked more interest, either here or on Hereford Times.
  24. Yes, still open and trading......no ciggie machine outside though!
  25. I think we may have cleaned up on the hoovering puns! Swept the board, as it were!
