Tory party using council website for party political matter
dippyhippy replied to gdj's topic in Open Forum
Or maybe, Glenda, they perused the pages of Hereford Voice, read GDJ's informative post and realised the game was up! They actually couldn't get away with this one! (Reassuring to see that they still seek wish to recruit "passionate" people!) -
Afternoon Ubique! Your friends concise explanation of an extremely complex set of circumstances, is brilliant!

I am always shocked at the atrocities that man will inflict on his fellow man in the name of religion. Religion has an awful lot to answer for - and politics rarely has an answer.

It would be good to see a Police Officer in High Town during the day

I was horrified, and greatly saddened to read that an elderly lady died in hospital after being knocked over by a cyclist in the pedestrianised area of Hereford city centre. My sympathies go out to her family, and I would hope that there is enough CCTV to be able to prosecute the person responsible. Dangerous cyclists MUST be clamped down on.....no more warnings. A hefty on the spot fine. Frog march them to a cash point if necessary, or telephone their parents if they are young, but the message that his is unacceptable really needs to be hammered home. -
Yes, a good rant should always be viewed as a positive in life! I smoke roll ups, have done for years, and I've tried every method under the sun to give the damned things up. Patches, gum, tablets, sprays,hypnotherapy.....you name it, I've tried it. The latest thing is my electronic puffer.....it's pretty good as well, I've cut down by half! But even with that, I still feel guilty smoking......it's just not socially acceptable anymore. I spend two minutes rolling a smoke, and then ten minutes worrying someone's going to see me smoking it......it's beyond ridiculous, and yet I can't give up completely.......and to be honest, I'm fed up with folks making me feel rotten about it!! The ban on smoking in pubs, has effectively sounded the death knell, for many local establishments , and it's a real shame. There could have been ways around it.............it's a pity a few options weren't tried first.

Thanks for the link, Megilleland - I still couldn't find newsletters, or a link to sign up for one! I wouldn't want the Twitter or RSS updates, I don't do Twitter, and I don't know what an RSS feed is!! -
Belmont & Newton Farm SNT Newsletter August 2014
dippyhippy replied to megilleland's topic in Police & Crime
So...I wonder how often these newsletters come out?? Perhaps you have to sign up to receive them via email?? They do seem like a good way of keeping folk informed of what has been happening in their local area. -
This is it, there are always hidden problems, and therefore more costs. It doesn't matter if we're talking about the state of the roads, grass cutting or an enormous weed.....because the basic maintenance isn't there....smallish problems morph into much bigger ones, and the cost of sorting it out spirals. in reality, cutting corners like this, is never going to save money......just storing up more expense for a little further down the line.

Lovely....especially the little terrier!!

No mention here of the contact points at Asda or The Hereford Academy, which Chris Chappel mentioned on another thread?? Also, do other areas get these news letters?? And if so, are they due out at the same time?? -
Morning Slim! I have used my green press to neutralise your red! There is an entire thread devoted to the pros and cons of the red button - in Open Forum, "The voting up/down of comments" or something similar! I have before now, received a red press for posting the comment, "With respect, we aren't Bristol, or Birmingham or Worcester"!! Which is a fact, as opposed to my opinion!! I have no problem with folks disagreeing with me, that's what makes for great discussions - it's when they don't agree, but can't be bothered to comment explaining why!! The best thing to do is ignore it. For the record, I honestly believe if Ragwert disagreed with your post, he would have said so!

I will judge how successful this development is over the next few years! Barely three months is far too early to start hanging out the bunting. We are in the "honeymoon"period at the moment. When the subsidised/free rents have run out, the weather is miserable, and the "Oooh! A new shop!" Excitement has died down, if it's still doing well then, AND High Town is benefitting, as we have constantly been told it will, then I may concede defeat.......but not until then! So no, Tony, I do not find this "galling" in the slightest! And by the way, The Cassandra metaphor......you are using it in the wrong context! Cassandra was the one who could predict bad things happening, but nobody believed her! But her warnings were always true and valid! Take heed Tony! Here is a Cassandra prediction for you......this time next year, you will not be voted back in!

It would be good to see a Police Officer in High Town during the day
dippyhippy replied to Ubique's topic in Police & Crime
I had no idea that the police DID run a surgery at Asda! When I suggested that in my earlier post, I wondered if the idea would be ridiculed! I had no clue it was up and running! Is this a regular thing then? The police "cupboard" at the hospital, always appears to be locked! I think they get called down there quite regularly though. -
Wagamama - Now Open In Hereford
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
Did anybody else know that according to wiki.answers, the word Wagamama translates as "let me be selfish." Isn't that an interesting factoid!! So we are fortunate to have a whole Cabinet full of wagamamas here in Hereford! How blessed are we...??? -

"We are currently exploring opportunities to share resources, such as front counters with partners where possible." What about having a "front counter" at somewhere like Asda?? They are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and would make contacting the police on a "drop in" basis, very easy for many folks! They already have the dental access and medical walk in service based nearby....why not the police as well?? Utilising places such as pubs/ libraries/supermarkets, into more multi functional community areas could be great! PS - No apology needed Megilleland! -

West Midlands Ambulance Service fined £2.6m
dippyhippy replied to megilleland's topic in Open Forum
I have just read that Anthony Marsh, Chief Executive of West Midlands Ambulance Service, spends a whopping £400. per WEEK on taxi fares from his West Mids home to Cambridge. This is good value apparently. It allows him to answer emails. Reassuringly, his £232,000 salary is also good value, as he is busy "saving money."( Although he is paid significantly more than Simon Stevens, the man who has overall responsibility for the entire NHS, and earns £211,000.) And the £9,400 car allowance he also claims, is very necessary indeed. -

If I get sent one that I'm not expecting, I shall remove the lid, turn it upside down and spray paint it.....it will make a great dalek costume! Imagine it, come the revolution, an army of angry daleks marching on Plough Lane......at least we would get to stay anonymous! -
