Cannot Purchase Hot Food In Hereford City After 1.30am
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
I don't know about you lot, but it's been so hot at 1.30a.m lately, that the only food I would want would be an icecream with a flake from Mr Whippy, in his van! Would he need a late night license I wonder.......he could make a killing!!- 291 replies

Thanks for the info, Stupid Frustration - it's good to have an idea of time scale! I was a tad concerned it had died a death, as nothing new had been reported!

Does anybody have an update on how the Business Improvement District is progressing? It's been a few months since we have heard anything, and with Aylestone Voices' concern about the Chadds building, and of course the burnt out River Island building still covered in scaffolding, both exactly as they were - it would be good to hear if this group was gathering pace and moving forward with their plans to improve High Town??

Perhaps it's a new method of filling in pot holes.....???

Thanks Bobby! Keep a tight hold of your conkers Bobby - we wouldn't want Patricia getting her hands on them, and selling them off to the highest bidder!! -
It has always been a really popular field for dog walkers, and for children to play......this year it has been quite deserted as the grass is just too long. Good to see you posting again Biomech - you've been fairly quiet of late! I was a tad concerned you had shut your fingers in the van door or some other accident that had damaged your digits, and rendered you unable to type!!

One day my friend, you'll hit the jackpot........... Ode To Bobbys' Conkers. King Bobby stood on Marcle Ridge, Detector in his hand, The random bleep Was frightening sheep, As he swept the grassy land. Across the field the farmer strode, His face showed great displeasure, "I'll be within the law, To use my 12 bore, Unless you stop this hunt for treasure!" Taking aim he fired a warning shot, Into an old Horse Chestnut tree, This may sound bonkers, But solid gold conkers, Ricocheted off Bobbys flask of tea! "Wealth beyond my wildest dreams!" Bobby shouted with delight, "I'll have riches untold, From these conkers of gold, Drinks on me in The Commercial tonight!" By D Hippy. -
This was yesterday evening - the old Whitecross School playing field! The smell was dreadful! The grass here, as far as I am aware has not been cut at all this year. The Whitecross nursery school borders this field, so I'm just glad it wasn't open when this happened, as the smoke was pretty bad even where I live!

Ethics and Standards Monitoring Officer, Bobby?? Good grief, this role is going to keep you very busy indeed - too busy for regular afternoons in The Commercial, or a spot of fishing on The Wye! Monitoring the ethics and standards of Harry and Trish alone, will keep you gainfully employed until at least Christmas! -
Spot on comment, Aylestone Voice! I think maybe a "Name and Shame" thread should be started, highlighting issues such as this. I also am amazed that there is no "minimum standard" for how shop fronts should look.....again, part of the old Chadds building being used looks more like a car boot than a High Street shop! It desperately needs a good tidy up! Rails of knitwear and high vis jackets on the pavement are not the best way to merchandise your goods! It should make no difference, whether it's a "big" name or a charity shop - Oxfam, in Eign Gate always have a lovely shop window - have a little pride!! Perhaps some sort of seasonal " Best Dressed Window" competition, would focus traders attention on this.....with a bit of free publicity, it could help to improve the situation??? Window displays and dressing should be a real eye catcher.....not an eye sore!

Hi Megilleland! That's kind of what I thought......extra management, extra meetings, and, if that wasn't enough......a new word! Teckal. That's a new one for me! I've never heard of it! I thought perhaps it might be some sort of blend of freckle and tickle........but sadly, no.

According to a Hereford Times report......Hoople, is to become two companies. Double the trouble, or the beginning of the end.....???

dippyhippy replied to Ubique's topic in Police & Crime
I do miss seeing the policeman outside Marks and Sparks........ That said, it's not just High Town where there isn't a visible presence......I can't remember the last time I saw a policeman or woman walking around Whitecross! Perhaps they aren't necessary? In which case, I say "Great!" That means I must live in a pretty safe place! Like Two Wheels though, I do miss the presence on the CSO's. They were a regular sight at one point, and definitely gave a visual reassurance to more elderly or vulnerable members of the local community, as well as cracking down on pavement cyclists! They had also built up good relationships with the local schools both primary and secondary, and after my initial reservations about their role, they did seem to make a positive difference! -

Is this really allowed?? So those that lend with a friendly smile, also take with strong arm tactics?? They don't put that on the TV adverts do they.......?? -
It's Been So Long Since Herefordshire Council Cut The Grass...
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
Oooh! I wonder what bit they disagreed with?? The fact that I quite liked it, or my astro turf suggestion?? Never mind.....I guess I shall never know.....!!! -
Snap Denise! I also scored 56%! And religion played a big part in my low score........I estimated 26% of folks would have ticked the Christianity box, and for my area it was a whopping 64% I was quite surprised!

I see that the turf was being rolled up and removed this afternoon........so that didn't last long! I did rather like it. Perhaps Astro turf might be an option?? -
When is a Director of Law not a Director of Law?

Hello there! Welcome to Hereford Voice! Judging from your blog,(which I did enjoy reading!) and Wirral Leaks, it sounds as if you have as many concerns about how your council is run, as we have about ours! -
King Bobby's on his way to becoming a legend!!!
dippyhippy replied to flamboyant's topic in Open Forum
Ah! The word will spread far and wide, that Our King Bobby is as mad as a fish! His daily show in Capuchin Yard will be reprised, and folks will gather from near and far to watch in awe! Tourism will be on the up, B and B's will be booked months in advance, and you won't be able to get a table in The Commercial for neither love nor money! Things are looking up people! -
Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
I suspect it will be August, when many folks are going, or are already, on their holidays. They did pretty much the same thing with the Lime Trees, Decisions were made at a meeting just before the Easter Weekend. Sneaky. -
Now come along, Bobby - Man Up!! If you have your heart set on throwing yourself out of a small aircraft and hurtling towards the earth, strapped to a wardrobe, then you should go for it! I'll sponsor you.....£5.00 and a bag of scratchings to eat in the ambulance, I mean on the way home! (Honestly, you'll be fine!)

I'm really pleased to hear that Charles' Bar will reopen, I used to love that place....especially when Jon the piano player was playing! A great atmosphere!
